  1. Yeah, it was real easy to find someone to help me. All I did was I asked someone for a buff because I was going to go try to do a class quest that was bugged and I would need all the help I could get. He asked me if I wanted him to come along and in a few more minutes I was moving on to the next part of the story.
  2. The reason no one takes that chance and makes something new is because of investors, if you want folks to back you with their money you have to show them a proven way to make their investment pay off, as in the WoW clone. The only way you will ever get a top developer like Bioware to develop an MMO with inovation is if they go back to before they were owned by EA, then they might have had the intestinal fortitude to advance the MMO and make the gameplay a lot more inovative then what we see now. Bioware did add story to the MMO and that is an advancement, beyond that I don't see this game getting very inovative.
  3. Seriously find someone who is level 50 and bring them with you the story is so amazing after this that you do not want to be stuck there...
  4. The thing is that some drops also require Darkside or Lightside levels to use them so it effects more then just what you can buy at the vendors....
  5. Yikes, I can't believe how good the story has been getting since I finished Defender of the Empire. I am the exact opposite of you I guess, as soon as I realized they had "programed" me I was glued to the screen and I can't wait to start playing again today! Remember a true Sith is ONLY there for themselves and would never even give it a passing thought as to if they should kill someone, anyone they deal with should die so there is no one to talk about it and most importantly this includes anyone who thinks they are your boss.
  6. Finally got it done today after I got a friend to help out. It really is a shame this is still bugged because the storyline after this is so amazing and I suspect a lot of players are stuck there. Not only that but Bioware in their wisdom saw fit to fiddle with the same quest for the Republic Smuggler questline called The Lightspring. Patch 1.1.2 The Lightspring: The toughness of Vaverone Zare and Nariel Pridence has been decreased. This mission can no longer be failed. So they see fit to give The Lightspring the "easy button" so I guess we can hope for a similar poor solution for Defender of the Empire when they get around to "fixing" it... Oh and just so you know, there was nothing at all wrong with The Lightspring, in fact I thought that quest was brilliant and one of the highlights of the entire Smuggler class questline...
  7. If you stick with the game, or even just play a while till you have a few 50's and then come back for expansions I am willing to be that you get new companion(s) so maybe the "alien" is in those cards.... In my oppinion the IA has really great companions, the only one I don't really like is the bug man, can't even remember his name. Kaliyo is probably has the best dialogue of any of the companions I have seen in the game so far and I have also found a lot of others saying that same thing. Kaliyo is simply awesome. I just got the Dr. and getting him was a real highlight of the storyline, really amazing.. The only one I really hate is the stupid protocol droid however it is obvious they wrote their dialogue like that on purpose so that after a while it grates on your nerves and you have visions of spacing the droid dancing in your head...
  8. I totally realize that and I loved The Lightspring as it was, because it really taught you how to use your character to control a fight. You learned how to draw a boss away from the main fight. When to use your interupts to prevent him from healing. I thought The Lightspring was absolutely brilliant and it was one of the highlights of the entire Smuggler questline and it needed absolutely nothing done to it at all. So it totally baffles me why they even considered fiddling with it and also shows me that Bioware really has no idea at all what they are doing to their own game, its sad when I see things like this because Bioware thinks they have "fixed" something...
  9. Not sure what level you are but seriously if you are stuck there and can't move I am not really sure what you can do except hope like hell that someone at Bioware reads your ticket when you submit it. Sorry I just don't know what else to say...
  10. I finally found a player who was really nice and helped me tackle this quest, and I have to say the story gets so freakin' amazing after this quest that it really is a shame that apparently a lot of players are getting stuck here in their class quest line. I have pretty much finished all of the sides on Taris and could still not take DJ down, anyway then I started chatting with a level 50 Sorcerer on the Fleet and he offered to come help me with Jadus. Thanks again for the help, Arok
  11. To get someone to help you on a class quest you need to group with them and meet them at the airlock to your ship, so it is best to form your group at the Fleet. Then they can board your ship and go with you to the encounter.
  12. All I can say is the Sorcerer's first companion, Khem Val is without a doubt in my mind the best companion a Sith girl could ever want...
  13. I have to say after playing the Scoundrel and the Operative extensively as far back as beta, and then only recently a few days ago I started a Sorcerer and I can already tell at level 17 that the Sorcerer will be and is already a better healer then they were at the same level. I can heal through any boss in my class quests and if I only heal there is no question of if I will win the fight it is a garantee. Energy management is so much more difficult with the Scoundrel and the Operative then Force management is with the Sorcerer it is laughable, because with the Sorcerer I can just sit back and toss heals, and if I do that there is pretty much no way for me to loose in any fight I need to win solo. I imagine as I level I will only get better and better at healing so I really do think something needs to be done to help the Scoundrel and the the Operative at least be as good in healing as other healing classes. As it stands it is not even close.
  14. This is one of the reasons I think the Market is not all that busy, personally I wish they would open up the market cross server so that even on test server where there are only a handful of players we can still use the Galactic Market.. on test server the market is completely and utterly useless.
  15. I think the OP has basically a decent post, however some of the things he is saying about WoW were not there at launch. Like for instance the ARENA. I am not saying I liked the arena but it was something like 4 or 6 years after launch before we saw it in WoW. Also the first year I am not to sure there were a lot of Holliday perks either...and some of the other points. As for Rift, I never played it and can't really comment there.
  16. The main reason for all of your complaints is the way that Bioware so heavily instanced the entire game. When you go to a planet and your friend then logs on and goes to the same planet you might not even see each other because you might both be in different instances of that planet. This is because the Hero game engine that Bioware used to develop SWTOR is very limitted, it seems, in how many players can be in any given area at the same time. To keep player populations in check the entire game is instanced so that the number of players in one area never goes above a certain number. So unless Bioware has a team working on either developing the Hero engine further so it can fully support DirectX 11, 64 bit OS, or developing an entirely new game engine that can import everything they already have... I can't see them being able to put the MMO back into this RPG...I think that is the sad truth.
  17. It is not really that the story was a bad idea, but I have to agree that the story caused a lot of the problems we see in the game now. Far to much development time went into the story aspects and way too much of the gameplay aspect was compromised because of it. I have been a fan of Bioware games since Baldur's Gate was new, and never have I seen a game from them that is so lacking in invovation in gameplay like I see in SWTOR. I hope they add to the gameplay aspects, but I really do worry about the way SWTOR is so instanced because it makes the game seem small to me because there is no place in this game where I can go and see 100 other players. Heck even back in the days I played Ultima Online you could find places a lot more crowded then anywhere in SWTOR. The planets in SWTOR seem dead and almost devoid of any sort of life and that is because usually when I am on a planet there is about 10 to 20 other players there with me and that is a crowded planet...
  18. I kind of have to agree with this because if you look at a lot of the bugs, like can't target properly on slopes or if target is on a higher or lower level makes targeting difficult, that all has to do with the engine. Bioware always made its own engines in the past and this was definetly the biggest mistake they made with SWTOR using a third party game engine...I hope they have a team working on making the engine better, making it work with directX 11, etc but I don't have much faith in all that either...
  19. This is the one thing that has me really wondering about the team that created SWTOR. I have been with Bioware for pretty much every game they have developed since Baldur's Gate, and never have I seen them not take part in their own forum community. This must come from the boss, James Ohlen, and the reason I say that is because over the years I have come to "know" Ray Muzyka and I have never known him to tell his employees to not take part in the forum community. The old Bioware forum community, before they created the Bioware Social forums, boasted over 6 million users just before they moved everything to the new Bioware Social forums. This is why Bioware is where they are today, because their Dev's were always posting in the forums and they were a real part of the forum community, and that fact and the fact they always created excellent games got them a following, before twitter, of over 6 million. Do you still know what got you to where you are today Bioware? Your forum particpation and unless you change your policy of zero Developer participation in the forums, this game will fail. I hate to say that because Bioware is without a doubt in my mind my favorite game developer but not participating in the forums is a very big mistake.
  20. Check out this video I found of a player who made a new hybrid Operative. In the video he also talks about the skills you would take if you were playing Scoundrel. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=246242
  21. Actually I just watched a video made by a player who plays our Empire counterpart, the operative and the way he explains this new build in the video he madem he also talks about the scoundrel as well. With this build you use the Leathality tree, a fair bit of the concealment tree, and I think it was three points into the medicine tree. The way he made this build everytime your poison crits you gain 2 energy so it is almost impossible to run out of energy. What you do is hang back and act like a sniper until someone notices you then when they come over to take out a "sniper" you show them your concealment/scrapper abilities and maybe even surprise them but at the very least you get away to continue your sniping... A very clerver hybrid build Anyway here is a link to the video and it really is worth the watch... http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=246242
  22. Realizing they would have the same last names I made a Scoundrel on republic side called El'amber and her twin Operative on the empire side is El'ember.
  23. I think for the female voice the same voice actress that does the female smuggler does the voice when the IA sounds more north american then british, and really she does some of the best PC voice acting in the game. Female smuggler voice is very good!
  24. The thing is though they tweaked the same quest in the Scoundrel class questline THE LIGHTSPRING, which is basically the same quest that teaches the player to use their interupts. They tweaked it in the last patch... The Lightspring: The toughness of Vavarone Zare and Nariel Pridence has been decreased. This mission can no longer be failed. Also if you notice they really did not try to make some elegant solution to the problem, instead they just made it so that there is no way to fail the mission, and if that is all they plan to do when things need fixing why isn't Defender of the Empire fixed like that as well?
  25. The thing is though on test server, the server they are testing the newest patches on, we do not have enough players. So when you get to the Fleet at level 10 you have no choice but to skip the FP and take the fast shuttle to your next destination. If you waited around until you could form a group you would be there for god knows how long. I have never seen another player on the Fleet on test, ever.... So yeah, we really DO need a cross server LFG tool.
