  1. Is it just me or are a very very large amount of servers light/medium during peak times lately? My server is pretty slow(was high/que first week of game) but its not dormy(yet) Did they just up the caps by a bunch or did that many people quit/roll on the few higher pop servers?
  2. just about every major big named MMO reviews well and wins awards. That does not mean they will not fail or are anything special. Imo MMO's are the hardest game to really get a review since like the reviewers are not really putting in the time and commitment to the game. Its not like its a single player game where you play for a couple hours or w/e and know if the game sucks or not.
  3. best analysis of MMO PVP i have read in awhile.
  4. Eh expertise makes the gear gap that much worse though. Who wants gear parity? I think the issue is TOR has a gear gap that usually takes a game a year + to get to in the first month of release. Mainly due to the double dipping of expertise in relation to under geared players then canceling itself out basically at the gear cap. Never in my mmoing have i noticed that around ~month into a game a new person at level cap being out geared this much. If the special stat was on pve then basically pve'ers would be the ones who fall behind faster but at least it wouldn't go both ways the way expertise currently does. I prefer gear to be gear and not special for one form of play. I know in todays day and age of "you can't force me to play the entire game" we will never just have gear that can be gotten and used in the entire game. Since the popular model is always make a PVE game with some badly designed PVP give pvpers pvp only gear and then go back to focusing on pve content.
  5. i woudn't quote this and the OP should take it down If this is true. It is bannable to post or tell how to do an exploit. And im sure once this gets modded you will get edited and possibly action
  6. I know it sounds bad when i type it but for me a lot of the fun in PVP isn't having a fair "duel" In past games almost nothing was more fun than going out and pvping once you got a new weapon that no one had yet and blow people up. Or finish your set up high end gear that few people had and head out into some pvp. I enjoy a fair fight but i dont pvp specifically to have a fair fight. I want my character to be powerful i want to be able to take on 2on1 with gear and skill. MMOs to me have always been about progression. I enjoy putting my character that i built and geared against other characters that other people built. I never viewed MMOs as everyone has 100 health and all the same stuff and we fight. Part of the appeal to me is you have control over how "good" your character is. I do think however that the SWTOR gear grind and implementation is awful and is not in the spirit of normal mmo gear progression. Most of my comments are based from past games before the current trend where you basically just grinding out a set of pvp gear that is required to pvp. There is just too much of a gear gap already and ruins the entire experience. I guess my random point that no one will read is i do not think making pvp just deathmatch premade character is anything more than a knee jerk reaction to a problem Bioware made with their awful pvp system.
  7. The people who say the above comments are people who are average at arenas at best but seem to think they are better than they are and come to a new game talking like they get a permanent glad title in wow ever season. There are many people who dont want arena in a new game who dominated in their day. And either quit because they got sick of it or just want something new. I have played way too many arena games and seen way to many awful pvpers get carried, ride a fotm or get insanely lucky in their queue timing rating farming to think arena is any type of end all, must have, gold standard of skill activity. The main thing that makes it so everyone calls for arena in every game is for the most part if you are good at the game you will rank high in arenas. The big problem for me at least is bad players will also sometimes rank high in arenas and thus makes the entire exercise not very credible. If there is arena heck yeah i will play but do i want arena? not really as i said in other arena threads it would be cool to get something different than a super scripted 3on3 team duel. Plus my personal opinion is once you have arena all other pvp is on the backburner since we pvp for ego and fun and arena always trumps all other pvp in every game it has been in and i think tor would be a better game is we dont go right into that off the bat.
  8. im surprised a hardcore player would actually have the faith in bw's ability to implement any type of arena system after what they have shown us so far to actually want arena here. I want some type of public leaderboard in something. I have done arena basically for its entire wow existence so im sick of it and would like something new but wz and ilum are def not getting it done.
  9. so since OP is on the zerg camping faction he now wants easier dailies too? The dailies are fine its the player base has made it so they take took long to do. Not sure how hard that is to accept. BW messed up by making it too easy to have a 5:1 faction ratio but it still takes the community to roll there and zerg there. I am not sure how making the dailies basically even more free gear for the zerg side fixes anything. Sounds like OP just wants stuff handed to him. Ilum is just bad design though. The idea had promise too.
  10. lol at people thinking BW can actually handle doing arena and the balance required. Sadly they are already over their heads. And even more sadly these classes were not designed for competitive 3v3 esp on the resource side. Plus wow was much more polished and fluid than TOR is. Tor pvp is very clunky and awkward. Also TOR is far too new to implement something that is game changing. Wow did it in their first expansion when everyone was level cap and the population settled. That said personally after years of hardcore arena im over it and want something else/new to call pvp.
  11. This game is by far the worst imbalance towards one faction across the board. Normally the overall population is close to 50/50 across the game just the servers are all wacky so free server transfers fixes it. But in TOR for w/e reasons game or not game related a very very large majority of the players play on one faction so even if TOR was just 1 server the game would still be 3:1. Their best bet is to offer a handicap for being outnumbers and break with their "story" and merge servers then allow factions to xfer to the lower pop side.
