  1. Granted, you are right that there are bonus series, but all they are is camouflaged kill quests, your objective it to retrieve 10 sticky slimes from slime dudes, odds are, your bonus quest will be kill, destroy, kill boss, I don't see that as progression in the genre, it's just a kill quest that is labelled as bonus, but in reality it's essentially mandatory, as you must do them to keep on the leveling curve. Go ahead, skip every bonus quest, you'll see how far you get behind as you keep skipping them. As far as instant gratification, how can you even say that. Do you think I'm entitled for wanting a game released in 2011 to have the game play, features and quality of a game released in 2011, not 2004? I don't understand that, it's like I go out car shopping, am I entitledif I go to test drive a Chevrolet Volt and decide unless they add in X, Y and Z features I'll just buy a Honda Accord because it already has those features. Are you, as the salesmen going to say "Well, when the Accord was released in the 70s, it too had a lot of problems, it's really not fair to compare the Accord of Today to the Chevrolet Volt, because it just released, you have to give them time!". No, it's perfectly acceptable, and realistic to compare 2 products, and insinuating that comparing them both as they stand currently makes me feel entitled to "instant gratification" is just wrong and shows the level of your thought process. I'll reiterate, it's perfectly fine and acceptable to compare WoW to TOR, they are both MMOs, that *** for tat are identical, with TOR being of lesser quality, regardless of the reasons. I don't care if you say WoW had issues at launch, it had 7 years to get this far, WoW never came up with any unique ideas, etc, etc. I really don't care, those are just excuses, and very poor reasons to defend TORs horrible quality. As a MMO launched to compete with World of Warcraft especially, you'd think that it would be of the same quality, if not greater quality as they had years of watching WoW implement ideas, and cultivate feedback based on those ideas. Yes, the game has only been out a month and it has a content patch already, congrats, but it was just content that was cut from release because they wanted to push it out the door and make money, go read the interviews if you don't believe me and read between the lines, same with the Legacy system. It's all a game to make money, and unfortunately, TOR isn't winning the game, and the server populations make that very, very clear. At launch, a weekend meant half the servers were listed as full, with very few below heavy, and hundreds of people in the lower level zones. Now, very few even hit Very Heavy, and only 2 hit Full on a regular basis. And I can predict what you'll say, the Holidays are over, people went back to their normal schedules, etc, etc. Fact is, 7-8pm on a Friday and Saturday night, a server should be loaded with people, not barely break 100 on the Imperial fleet on a server with a 3:1 Empire to Republic ratio.
  2. I'm glad you think that, you're more then welcome to your opinion, but I don't get how you can say it's the best crafted MMO when it does everything worse then existing MMOs, aside from Cut Scenes, which aren't even a big deal, and annoy a large percentage of the player base at 50 when half the time you run a hardmode it's listening to some guy go on and on about stuff you don't care about. The quests... are standard, nothing special to see, kill, gather, rinse and repeat, with voice, so many options, and they take none of them. And as far as give it time, no thank you. If the product isn't ready when it's released, I'm not going to pay $15 a month for 3-12 months to wait for it to be ready, I'll just quit and move on like a very large chunk of the community already has and is planning on doing.
  3. Someone.... who doesn't blame SOE for following orders? I think I man-love you. Your my new best e-friend. This man here knows the truth. When Publishers and Developers alike learn that WoW was a fluke in terms of it's success originally that was then capitalized by Blizzard and stop trying to outdo WoW with WoW, we'll get a good MMO. There are so many things Bioware could have done with TOR, but silly old Lucas Arts undoubtedly got in the way telling them they had to outdo WoW with worse then WoW quality game play.
  4. There is, he is just not in-game yet. Files for him are there, he just isn't in the game, it's probably Legacy.
  5. How, exactly is that 15% of the population? Those planets are where a good chunk are, and if you go planet by planet, add them all up, that's 85% of your population, as you have a few warzones going and people in ships. The servers are dying out slowly, just look at the list, and don't give me the non sense of holiday is over, they raised the caps, blah blah blah, it's 8pm EST on a Saturday and the fleet has just over 100 people empire side. I can go onto my WoW server right now and I'd probably have a hell of a lot of people clogging up the screen, and probably couldn't find a mailbox if I tried.
  6. #3, that's all it is. TOR has shown people that it's just another MMO, nothing special, extremely linear, and the only potentially redeeming quality is voice overs, but they as well become aggravating the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc time you hear them in a instance as nothing changes and there is no way to just bypass them. Most of my friends who quit said they'd still play if they could turn the cutscenes off for instances, and I agree whole heartedly, it's annoying that you spend half the time in there talking, even mashing the space bar. That, and ability delay turned a lot of people off, and it's too late now, even if they fix it, the damage is done. OP, it's just typical. When a new MMO comes out and isn't up to snuff, people leave, and odds are, they won't come back, I know I won't unless there is a complete over haul.
  7. Getting made worthless? Nope, they're being brought back down to reality.
  8. Holy hell, can you be any more of a fanboy? Space COmbat? Are you serious? Starfox from over a decade ago is better done then this games stinking pile of crap space combat. Holocrons, you are surely kidding, you really think they affect your character in a meaningful way? Go add up every single bonus then come back and say that with a straight face, the difference is so miniscule. And in TOR, once you clear the place, there is no incentive to go back either, except to hear different words and still get to the same conclusion. This dude dies, that dude doesn't die, doesn't make a difference, you'll never see him again. Fact is, WoW is far better because yes, it has had 7 more years then TOR, but when you got out and want to buy a car, do you say "Oh, well the Honda Accord has been out since the 70s, so it's not fair to compare a 2011 Accord to a Chevy Volt because the just came out, of course they are going to have problems!". No, you look at them both, as they stand, and in this case, WoW is far superior, whether they stole ideas or not, Blizzards game is far superior, and TOR has no hope because Bioware is to arrogant to admit that linear gameplay is really unappealing and players want choice, and choices that make a difference, not some live or die scenario that either way doesn't affect you aside from +100 or -100 to your chosen alignment.
  9. Yep, lots o' cash went to VO's and making the planets looking, pretty, add in salary for everyone and there is 99% of your budget, the other 20 dollars was spent on combat and everything else. So you got a game that looks amazing in cut scenes, but plays worse then Super Mario N64. Clunky, slow, and boring to play, pretty nice if it was just a interactive movie with no game play.
  10. If you think 1.5 million people resubbed... wow... go take a look at the server status page and refresh it periodically throughout the night as we enter US prime time. Then go and compared that to 2 weeks ago and tell me 1.5million people re-subbed.
  11. How can you even believe they sold 200 Million copies of the game. If that was true it'd be so far plastered everywhere you couldn't walk 2 feet without hearing about a game selling 200 Million Copies.
  12. No, they're both horrendous, and it was proven with Federal Government taking down MegaUpload. To take down that site, they had to go and get warrants, indictments, etc, you know, due course legal stuff, SOPA and PIPA bypass all that and they can just shut it down, no questions asked at the mere hint of copyright theft. MegaUpload being taken down is going to bolster the anti-SOPA and PIPA movement as it proves that the current laws and regulations are effective and can take down sites that need to be taken down... and we don't need more loss of rights.
  13. 2 Minute Cool Down..... it's so totally usable every time. And P.S stop playing in the scrubby 10-49 bracket, go play in the 50 bracket with the full battlemaster geared Operatives, you'll be here calling for nerfs in a few hours when you get hit with the 7k crit on the opener.
  14. Ouch, they swindled you for 78$. Everything they talked about in that video is being over hyped. UI customization... oh awesome you can resize it.... whoop de friggin doo. Too bad the games already on the decline. They had so much potential and blew it by being arrogant and thinking they knew everything, which clearly they didn't.
  15. Like half my server is.... they're not hard to get.
  16. Which is the problem, I think the person you were quoting was being sarcastic.
  17. Sorry they are adding in a race with established lore in the Warcraft world and not Yellow and Red Orcs. Enjoy your Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, White, Black and Rainbow colored Humans. OP I'm with ya, going to give her a whirl again.
  18. Feel bad for you, you just got hosed for 78 dollars. I'd call and try to get a refund ASAP.
  19. I can't wait for the multiple charges bug. That was some good reading about people getting billed 2 or 3 times, until I saw the picture on guy posted about how he got charged so many times he lost 4k in charges and it was like 3 pages on his statement. If that happens here, the internet will be full of lulz.
  20. It goes with the saying "Give a man a fish, he lives a day, teach a man to fish, he lives a lifetime.". I don't give out simple answers, I tell them, codex, google, torhead, etc so they aren't reliant on everyone for stupid questions that take 20 seconds to get the answer too. Now, if you ask for a breakdown on how exactly power works and the ratios, I'd give the answer as that is a real question and not a "wutz bettr x or y?".
  21. No, it doesn't. The only people who get extra time are those who used the grace period. If your code was entered prior to the 20th your game time is now expired. The grace period only applied for those who had no code attached to their account, otherwise game time began ticking down on the 20th, and ended at mightnight last night.
  22. That's why on my server, Empire side, there were more 50s on Ilum then any level range on any other planet? We had over 100 50s running on Ilum, and the next closest planet population wise was Belsavis sitting at 70ish. Excluding the fleet, Ilum was the most populated planet Empire side.
  23. Go to some of the higher pop servers. We had 3 raid groups going after the patch yesterday and all the Republic could bring was 15 people, which then couldn't leave the planet. While it was funny as hell.... at the same time it was sad, as they had to abuse a exploit in order to actually leave the planet, and today's fix will probably break something even further.
  24. No company ever have, nor will they ever admit to their mistakes, they are too arrogant. SOE never admitted to be woefully wrong in going along with Lucas Arts' plan, the NGE. They only admitted to being wrong with the whole Trial of Obi-Wan expansion fiasco, not that the NGE was the biggest flop in any MMO, even to this day.... but at this rate Bioware is going to give the NGE a run for it's money. Maybe one day a developer will listen to it's Beta Testers and Players, and not investors on how to design a game and add in some new and exciting stuff.....
  25. A cool reward, years from now? TOR is going to be lucky to make it a year. Their first patch and they already screwed up majorly. Nothing they could have screwed up listening to the players, and somehow they managed to screw up. Your precious TOR won't make it 2 years.
