  1. lol despite all my disappointment, sadness, and anger towards bioware today... This video... literally...made my day.. hahahah I actually laughed out loud pretty hard...man...this almost makes me want to resub...!... LOL naaw... But thanks OP!
  2. Nope, some of us are brand customers to the MMORPG market. I don't care what you experienced at the WoW launch. That is the same argument as my dad saying "Hell, my first car didn't have seatbelts - why are you complaining that your car's ABS failed?" Seriously, STOP WITH THE "WoW was pretty bad too" argument, its horribly invalid and mute.
  3. This is an insult to the intelligence of players and paying customers. Piss off Bioware.
  4. Where is this advertised? Where is this stated? Is there some definitive industry standard for this? No. While I realize this is the case, likewise buying a Next Generation console on Day 1 (Expect trampling, line ups, riots, theft) but this is never ADVERTISED nor should it ever be EXPECTED or become the NORM... Sorry, but some of us are not complacent consumers. I want this game to succeed, I'm a star wars fanboy at heart..and I love bioware games....but like what Padme would say... "Bioware...you're breaking my heart.."
  5. Agreed. I've made several arguments that many of the "WoW was crap at launch, this is a mmo!" are simply invalid. No, no, NO. This is 2012, some of us are rational consumers, we will not put up with this crap. I'd rather donate the $14.99 to United way than to give it to a crook like James Ohlen.
  6. I totally agree, James Ohlen needs to stop with this PR and have "Real talk" with the community.
  7. Incredibly horrible argument. AA, when utilized properly, should not strain the machine that horrible. There is something called LOD and levels of Anistrophic filtering...properly utilized AA should only effect your immediate character and a few feet around you. Don't call people dense when you make baseless claims and defend Bioware blindly. The real reason why it was not implemented, and should still not be, is because it is simply not ready. But they want to save face and undue stress on their consumers, so they never put it in. It's as simple as that.
  8. I just read Ohlen's interview, http://www.computerandvideogames.com/332295/star-wars-old-republic-update-2-will-be-much-bigger/ Really, Patch 2 will be "much bigger", and there is not a single word on the community concerns or the high resolution textures? And this is march? They are clearly not listening to us.
  9. Agreed. This game at end game - which is arguably 50% of any MMORPG or more - is severely lacking any differentiating aspects when you compare it to other MMORPGs. The whole "Yeah this game is innovative!" thing is true to an extent, when you're leveling. Other than that, it has nothing "innovative" about it. You want some innovation? Ask Bioware to actually take a risk, like making combat different and not having the end raids turn out to 16 man op groups DPS/Tank/Healing stuff. I realize it's too late for that, since the game is built on the "Trinity MMORPG model" of DPS/Tank/Healer. Sure you added dialog options in the Flash points, but the game is still completely linear. You guys could've done something about that linearity huh? It's what you guys are FAMOUS for....jeez. Oh and for the general combat and world PVP, umm how about you take a risk and put a city or region that is RAIDABLE by the other opposing faction. It's really hard for me as an Imperial player to take PVP seriously when I cannot see where these Republic players live, it's a MMORPG after all. There is so much potential, but all gone for the sake of "taking it the safe path". Coming from a company like Bioware, I'm a bit disappointed, you guys have always taken risks.
  10. I am not paying $14.99 to keep the lights on at their moderator office.
  11. Yes, I realize there is virtually no MMORPG that has the monthly subscription model with a price lower than $14.99. However those that do, have substantially more content. Those with less content or problems, are Free to play. Everquest 2 offers F2P for a partial experience of the game World of WarCraft offers much more content with a lower initial box price Guild Wars 2 won't even have a subscription rate. Due to Final Fantasy's poor launch, it was setup as free to play initially But again, you missed my point - SWTOR is charging the SAME price (subscription) - for LESS content. But whatever, this is a typical pricing strategy...it's just price skimming...they'll squeeze all of us until they can, then they will drop the price or switch to F2P.
  12. No they're not "standard", many MMORPGs that are lacking content and what not are Free 2 play to a certain level or etc.
  13. Let's get one thing straight, as rational consumers we will simply compare products and choose what is better. We will not care if SWTOR is new or if a competitor has years of operating activity. We will simply spend our dollars where we see the most value. Sure, SWTOR differentiates itself by using the Star Wars IP...which definitely made me choose it over others. But that's as far as it will get me, if you want me to subscribe, you guys need to prove your worth. As a new MMORPG player, I do not see the value in subscribing to SWTOR. Why? There are other MMORPGs that offer much more content for the SAME PRICE OR LOWER. Now, if SWTOR simply offered an additional free month or a lowered subscription rate, then I would continue to subscribe. Unfortunately, it doesn't, it actually offers a very subpar experience when compared to other products on the market when you compare the price points. There are multiple competitors that offer their initial client for free or at a much lower price, but you guys are demanding that we subscribe at the market premium of $14.99. Then I think it is fair, that we demand the same premium that goes along with a $14.99 subscription. For example, would it be fair for me to start up a restaurant with a brand new tech-college grad as the head chef, AND COMPLAIN that it isn't fair you're comparing my restaurant with much more established restaurants when we both offer the same steak dinner for the exact same price? No, that is why many new places have introductory offers. But SWTOR and James Ohlen have their ego's way up there, you guys need to remember you are the new kids on the block. Now you want me to "Discuss SWTOR" in a general discussion manner to meet your guidelines? Sure. How about this -Open World PVP is a joke, it's just peaceful trading so players can accomplish their dailies -The voice acting is rehashed after 30, but you guys used this as a selling point - I feel mislead - James Ohlen and others have been quoted on record, that SWTOR would be an innovative game. It isn't, look at this quote and photo http://i.imgur.com/UmcMV.jpg -The game is lacking many MMORPG standards; such as Dungeon LFG, /rolldice, Cross realm PVP, and much more - Where are the high resolution textures? The graphics on this look worse than many other MMORPGs which are much older -The core of the MMO is non existent, with the sharding of worlds and what not - my experience leveling from 1 to 50 has been a rather lonely one. -Lack of UI customization -Enhanced Guild options (Come, at least a GUILD BANK?) It doesn't take much to see that the developers are hiding stuff from us, it only took +200 pages and a thread re-spawn for the texture resolution to be simply ACKNOWLEDGED A company that closes threads like this and ignores the player base concerns until the thread reaches capacity, you have seriously broken up any good will you have built up over the years for me at least. Dragon Age 2 was strike 1, SWTOR is strike 2, what will be strike 3? Mass effect 3? I'll knock on wood just in case. P.S. I will pay $14.99 to whomever offers the best value, it's as simple as that.
  14. I know patience is a hard to get thing on these forums, so I will be as concise and brief as I can. Sorry, but as a rational consumer we want to have our products meet market standards if we are to pay the same price. We do not care if your game is new, or if the competitor has been around for years.WoW has definitely set the standard, and as a new player to MMORPG's, why take anything less? I'm sorry if WoW has 7 years of built up content and expansions, but that's reality. Likewise, would it be fair for me to start up a restaurant with a brand new tech-college grad as the head chef, AND COMPLAIN that it isn't far you're comparing my restaurant with much more established restaurants when we both offer the same steak dinner for the exact same price? No, that is why many new places have introductory offers. But SWTOR and James Ohlen have their ego's way up there, you guys need to remember you are the new kids on the block. If you want people to stay subscribing or not quit, you better start offering a free month or reduced subscription prices. I am not going to pay $14.99 to "idle" my account so you can play catch up. James Ohlen and crew, you want me to subscribe? Then prove it, it's as simple as that. I am no fanboy, I do not care what your situation is, my dollars will go towards what yields the best value in entertainment for me. If that means comparing WoW and SWTOR, then I'll pick WoW. /ConsumerRant
  15. Unsubbing. 1) Patch delayed Sorry but this just shows me the game was indeed rushed, same with the patch 2) There is nothing new, the game director can say the game is innovative and all - but it feels like WoW Classic but even more user friendly. I'm not interested in doing dailies so I can get some gear 3) open world PVP on Ilum is a joke 4) voice acting is rehashed/recycled post 30 5) the instancing/sharding of worlds and etc truly has made the entire game an un-social experience. It always felt so alone while I leveled up And this sums it up. http://i.imgur.com/UmcMV.jpg
  16. Go roll someone to 50 and then come back here. There is no end game. Within 5 days I'm already decked out in mostly columi (tier 1.5) gear. Daily PVP? Lol wut is PVP? PVP in SWTOR is going to Illum and sitting there, and then "Trading" objectives with the opposing faction to get your Daily done. There is no PVP.
  17. No he's right. I don't think I'm gonna put my subscription on auto anymore. I will unsub, and wait and see. I know I will only save a few "days", but it's more symbolic than anything.
  18. Don't be dumb, the dev team said they're adding needed capacity as it goes to reduce que times.
  19. My entire guild bought the game on Origin, which is well over 40 people. Do we represent the sales for all of bioware sales and provide a statistically significant indicator of where/how the game is purchased? No. Neither does Massively, especially in a niche market like the UK. You cannot make stupid correlations like "SWTOR is dying, it's not selling well in a 3rd market"
  20. It's called real life. Work and college has started again, and yes people will leave/get sick of it within the first month as well.
