  1. Yeah I agree. I understand it if it's needed in a Flashpoint, but on a heroic 2+ like Makeb's False History it was seriously annoying. I was soloing it just fine, then I died at the gas room, and when I entered the phase again everything had respawned. I just abandoned the quest in frustration and picked up another [1-man] daily instead.
  2. Have to agree, honestly. It's awesome and well worth the most boring parts. I had never had so much fun in this game as I did yesterday with an awesome PUG (yes, it happens sometimes) doing the Shroud's last stand and the heroic before it. And that's even with my game constantly crashing to desktop And the ending is just magnificient. Same with the Seeker Droid storyline, imo. It's slightly inferior, the boring parts are more boring than the microbinoculars' boring parts, and it's less filled with puzzles. But the Arcanum part was a lot of fun and Alchemy of Evil was pretty good. Not as good as Shroud though. I love this kind of quests. If this were my game I would fill the game with chains like this, instead of HM FPs and raids. Sadly, it isn't. But at least I have these two to enjoy (and the HK-51 chain, but that one's boring parts are pretty... dissuasive). Thank you for these two quest chains, devs.
  3. Didn't know this. I doubt it's intended to be that way. I mean, it's "CHAPTER 4". Even if it's not a class-specific story anymore people shouldn't be able to start it before finishing Chapter 3.
  4. I remember actually reading shortly before launch an interview with a writer (I think it was good ol' Daniel Erickson) saying the Sith Inquisitor and its story were made with Raistlin Majere as an inspiration. Not only Raistlin, of course: Darth Sidious was a strong source of inspiration as well. There were other names mentioned, but I can't remember them. As for Tom Bombadil, I don't think any class resembles him. Hell, even in LOTRO there isn't a "Tom Bombadil class", just a few spells here and there on classes like the Lore-Master or the Minstrel that are nowhere near the power of Tom. No class in either of those games has such a deep connection with nature and with the world itself. No class is as "godly". Although if I had to choose one I would go with the Inquisitor-Sorcerer.
  5. Indeed. I've just logged in and then suddenly the red message pops up. W.t.f.
  6. Zabrak male Powertech Kill: none, really. Replace: Skadge. He hasn't done anything bad to me so far, but he just doesn't respect me enough and I frankly don't need him at all (I'm better than him in everything I can think of, and I don't need a tank since I'm one myself). Want: Another chick, maybe an alien one. One that fits my character's personality better than Mako does (too bad I'm already engaged, lol). Someone like Hylo Visz, for example (and maybe steal her away from Gault, lol). Zabrak male Juggernaut (deleted a year ago) Kill: Quinn. Because he's a piece of **** and not being able to kill him destroyed my enjoyment of my character so much I ended up deleting him. (well, half the blame goes to BioWare for making me change his name after the server merge). Replace: Broonmark. Uninteresting. Want: Another healer to replace Quinn. I'm not asking for much. It could be a droid for all I care (ship droid sucks).
  7. Yeah, dailies are the fastest way. There's not a >"magic recipe" on legacy leveling though, it will take time. I only leveled until legacy 5 aprox. when I leveled my BH to 50 (it took me about a month, maybe a bit less). In roughly the same amount of time, doing mostly dailies and warzones, I'm already 17 and halfway towards 18. So imo it's almost 3 times faster, or at least more than twice as fast. (mere speculation so don't quote me on this ). And that's without mentioning that you earn money infinitely faster at 50, money you can spend on legacy-wide perks -and character perks if you desire so- that will make the leveling of your next alt(s) a bit less painful.
  8. "There are corpses all over the floor! This is what you call an incident?" always makes me chuckle. And pretty much every Baras or Kilran's line.
  9. I'm a bit annoyed. Back when I used to play a marauder it was kind of a waste of space, but on my main, my Shieldtech PT, the Shoulder Slam ability is one of my hardest hitting abilities on single targets and very useful to speed up the killing of trash when leveling up or doing dailies. Let's hope the shoulder missile ability or whatever its name makes up for it.
  10. I'm guessing it'll be limited to the event (maybe the vendors will stay, but hard to earn rep without event dailies - unless you have lots of reputation trophies collected), but this event isn't a one time thing: it's a recurring event.
  11. It's all good to me (even if the lack of communication is glaring) as long as we don't get another one later. If I see myself being basically unable to play during the whole Saturday I won't be that happy.
  12. Yes, it seems so, at least on my server (The Red Eclipse).
  13. You hit the nail on the head. I've been thinking this for months. At the beginning (mainly before launch) everything was very story-driven. After the loss of subs and the resulting reduction of both budget and staff everything became much more group-oriented, with replayable content (Warzones, Operations and, to a lesser degree, Flashpoints). And obviously the game became much more focused on fluff/customization with the Cartel Market implementation. Now they have this PvP event that seems to annoy lots of PvE players. Oh well, I'll be around as long as I have class stories to play. Even if I couldn't care less about raids, get sometimes kicked to desktop while playing warzones (I like pvp though, even if I play it casually) and can't afford to buy fluff on the Cartel Market other than what I can manage to buy with the coins I get for being a subscriber
  14. Pretty sure my Sith Warrior said "I am most thankful" several times. To Vette on the tomb at the end of Korriban, for example (iirc). They should make him say that instead.
  15. I got it on my character 2 days ago (yes, the one on the lake) and I had no problem whatsoever.
  16. How can I do that? I'm not very well versed in computers and I've got the same problem (like 2-3 crashes per day) .
  17. I've been leveling a Powertech Shieldtech (tank tree) and it's been a cakewalk, really, and I don't consider myself a great/terribly experienced player at all (hell, this will be my first level capped char ever, I'm level 46 now). With Mako as a healer and with good use of commendations to keep you decently geared you are basically unstoppable during your leveling. Very fun though. Resource (Heat) management can be a bit annoying when the Vent Heat ability is on cooldown, especially at the beginning, but it gets better eventually thanks to the Shield Vents talent and the ability at the top of the tank tree, Heat Blast. Just remember to use your basic ability (rapid shots) regularly so that your heat bar stays at low levels. As for mobility, most of your abilities can be used while running (you only have like 3 casted abilities, common to both PT and mercs) and you will get the awesome Jet Charge -gap closer- around level 30 (shieldtech only ability). You also have another gap closer, Grapple, although it's not really you who moves when using it. Hope I could help.
  18. /signed, as long as those of us who decided not to become a Mandalorian get a different title as a replacement (like "Freelance Bounty Hunter" or something of the sort).
  19. I like it when this happens, actually. It makes for a slightly less linear experience. Hell, I would love if they ever implement a Coruscant or a Korriban's bonus series for high level chars.
  20. Legacy was never intended to allow families, etc. to play together at the same time, but to enhance this game's replayability, rolling alts, etc. About the companion thing, I don't recall any devs saying anything about adding companions to Legacy's family trees. It's a pretty requested "feature", something many fans -including me- want, but AFAIK devs have never said anything, whether positive or negative, about it. And sadly I doubt that will ever change.
  21. Nice to read this thread, thank you OP. 5 stars. I'm doing Flashpoints for the first time as I level up with my character (a Powertech Tank, just got to lvl40 - "The Red Eclipse" server) via Group Finder and I admit I felt quite bad when at Cademimu's last boss I got nervous and I didn't do a good job evading the fire coming out of the ground and I died and some guy of the group told me "Are you retarded or what?"... But you know what? I just said "GL finding a tank"and I left the group even when we were at the last boss (I feel bad for the other 2 who didn't say anything, but I just didn't want to bear being insulted). Instead of completely giving up, I just got into the queue again and I found another group in less than a minute - the best thing of being a tank -. We started again, everything went smoothly, I was feeling more relaxed and we finished the flashpoint without a single death of any member. And after that, I've been leveling up and I've done both Boarding Party and -a few hours ago- The Foundry. Everything has gone great (we wiped once at BP but it was mostly due to a lack of communication of the whole group; we just talked things through the 2nd time and the boss went down easily; nobody died during The Foundry run) and people have been really really nice: the veterans have explained things, nobody has said SPACEBAR SPACEBAR SPACEBAR so I've been able to enjoy the story, we've done every bonus... These last two groups have really restored my faith on this game's community, although I'm aware of the fact that the next PUG might happen to include another jerk. All in all, what I want to say is: newbies, don't give up. Keep trying, listen to the veterans and/or read some guides before doing things (especially if you're tank or healer), don't tolerate disrespectful ******es, make some effort to be decently geared (although I can only speak about leveling gear for now), practice a lot and eventually you will learn to tackle every boss you encounter.
  22. It's a Star Wars-based MMORPG with the emphasis on story and moral choices I grew to love in KOTOR 1&2, DAO and Mass Effect 1&2 (even if none of your decisions here are as meaninful as I would have liked). Simple as that.
  23. I think working hard on class balance is a bit of a waste of time now, since level cap is going to be increased soon™ (Rise of the Hutt Cartel), and skill trees will be updated along with it. They should focus on making classes balanced at level 55; anything they do with level 50 characters will be basically invalid in 2-3 months.
