Trlance
Star Wars the Old Republic is like -> Why can't heroes swim in games? - YouTube Question .. why? Why there is no swim in this game? Guild Wars 2 you can swim all time, even under water .. here nothing. Zero logic. ~ Tsukito, Alliance Commander
TonyTricicolo
I love swimming in GW2 especially when the lovable Quaggans start cooing. I just want to hug them. As an homage, here is the Quaggans song: https://youtu.be/WmNECgBmI88 Edited April 11, 2023 by TonyTricicolo
Guyverarmor
If I am correct, the main reason (along with many) is due to the game engine. Just doesn't handle it properly if I am correct. Use a beta version of a game engine then customize it to living hell to the point you really can't do much!
Shayddow
They make all of the potential places to swim exhaustion zones. When I first started the game I went to swim in Tython's lagoon. Oops!

Of course you can just take the taxi but originally you had to unlock it first, but you get there just by walking through the ocean. Seems like they wrote that dialogue and designed the location before realizing that it made no sense for the engine limitations.

Actually, the taxi is on the beach on the mainland side of the water, so you can walk on land to the taxi and then swim wade through knee-deep water to get to Mannett Point. And probably you're right about the dialogue versus the engine limitations.
xordevoreaux
Swimming is just an animation like any other. If toons can somersault, leap, cheer, and do all those other emotes, animations can be designed for swimming.
