Will Anthem be the death of swtor?

Yeah Inquisition was so hated, it totally didn't won GOTY, or made a ton of money, at all. Go play the SWG emulators then if you hate SWTOR so much.

I don't remember it winning anything besides Reddit's r/games saying it was one of the worst games of the year. And we're past the time of SWG emulators it's time for Disney to bring it back from the dead as it's what gamers are demanding.

So this was just another SWG whine disguised as an Anthem post?

Probably, I wonder why he keeps bothering with this when there are SWG emulators out there.

Well Kodrac already gave you the links so I won't bother bursting your bubble a second time. Gamers are demanding more SW games in general. But can you point me so some specific example, other than yourself, of someone or a group of people asking to bring back SWG?

Anyone who's played or is interested in Anthem wants to gauge the competition it will face. The Division 2 entered open beta between March 1st and March 4th. This post was time limited and I had to edit it multiple times to reflect the status of the beta. It's over now. Game comes out on March 15th.

Welcome to The Division 2 Open Beta! If you did not get the chance to participate in our Private Beta phase, now is your chance! Available from March 1 – 4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, we want to welcome you as you take your first steps into Washington, D.C. The beta introduces you to some of the unique features The Division 2 has to offer—main missions, side missions, open world activities, and one of the three Dark Zones—to name a few.

You can then tell us what the Division is doing better than Anthem or vice versa without having to commit a purchase or preorder.

The real tragic thing for Anthem is that humorously enough EA/BW failed to learn the lesson of TOR despite having the same people work on that game...

If you get off to a shaky start the narrative substantively determines the trajectory the game will take for the foreseeable future. Doesn't matter how much polish you do post fact if the initial impression was poor, you won't get the success you would have it you started off with a polished product. That's why smart companies like CPR and Blizzard take their sweet time with their titles. And EA has notoriously little patience to do serious post launch rehabilitation of titles so it's not exactly a safe bet Anthem will get the level of attention it needs going forward.

TOR despite having the same people work on that game...

I don't think the people who did the grunt work on TOR are still around. There may be a name here or there in a higher promotion now, but the bulk of devs or temps who made up the rank and file are long gone. Edited by Falensawino

To be taken with a truckload of salt but here:

http://mmogfails.blogspot.com/2019/05/bioware-leadership-is-out-of-touch-with.html?m=1

I had a chance to catch up with someone from BioWare. This is the same person that told me about Anthem finally looking promising after years of being stuck in indecision limbo.

This is more venting than anything else, but it does not paint a good picture of the still out of touch leadership. I will just list some bullet point takeaways without my usual commentary.

- SWTOR and Anthem are now handled by virtually one team and there is competition for resources.

- The SWTOR expansion is not in good shape at this time and management's expectations are too high.

- While Onslaught is a large expansion, it is still not (and will not be) on the same level as Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

- Onslaught and Anthem are both in the crunch phase as leadership wants to recapture the old BioWare Magic.

- SWTOR has a lot more active players than Anthem. The numbers are not even remotely comparable.

- BioWare leadership wants to rekindle interest in SWTOR.

- Anthem player base is at an all time low even though this month saw an influx of new players.

- Anthem has issues with player retention. This is something they are very interested and motivated in improving.

- BioWare leadership is unhappy with the Onion articles. They feel the game is being mocked unjustly.

- BioWare leadership thinks not talking about Anthem is working wonders, as negative comments about the game have decreased across all forms of social media.

- Leadership also thinks that everything the Kotaku article exposed can be fixed with team building excersises and events.

- The live team is very unhappy and disappointed about missing deadlines and breaking promises to their fans. They are also unhappy with how leadership is choosing to deal with it.

- A patch with QoL improvements and fixes is ready but is being held back by leadership because they want at least some content in it. New content will most likely be dropping with said patch, as well as in the next few weeks.

- Expect nothing on Anthem's May road map to be completed this month.

Bolded the SWTOR relevant parts.

Could be fantasy, the alleged source supposedly said jan 2018 SWTOR is to be shut down in any scenario, Anthem being a hit or flop. (link in blog)

Or it could be that we actually dodged a serious bullet. Either way seems like the sooner Anthem fully kicks the can the better, as terrible as it to say that for people that bought it.
