pluzoid
ingame: Turn off shadows, not low, turn them off! big performance hitter. Turn off V-sync, also can aid with fps, but needs to be reinforced on graphic driver settings. Graphics driver settings. Using 1 screen? set performance to single monitor.Use application for AA.Visual quality - set to performance or high performance.Vynsc, force off, or if ur using it because of visual tearing in game, make sure you turn Tripple buffering On - (only if vynsc is ON).allow minus Lod. any options for performance at minor quality loss like trilinear optimisation can also be turned on. and also upgrade your graphics drivers! from nvidia or Ati dot com, depending on what your card is.Dont use windows update graphic drivers, there bad! KrustyDog
Besides reducing graphics quality, try reducing your resolution as well, see if that helps. This worked for me.

Nylyan
Everything stopped lagging for me when I went from Low on everything, including shadows, to high for everything, but turned off shadows. Ginnza
I'm only seeing issues with stuttering or frame rate drops inside buildings (Sith Academy, etc). Runs smooth as silk in the outside areas. Same problem here. I've the drivers updated, the settings all in low and shadows, vsync disabled. My computer has the minimum (and more) requirements, I've run lots of mmo in this computer with higher specifications and never encounter such a problem. When entering a building my fps drops to 7-10 or even to 2 if there's a lot of people. I just can't move or even use the general chat. I feel so disappointed cause I just can't play u.u In outside areas no problem, but in buildings it's horrible, and since I've got a sith and a lot of quests are in the academy... -.-

Peacenote
I have been experiencing this as well. I have two computers, one gaming desktop and one general purpose notebook. Now it's a high end notebook - 17" MacBook Pro with Boot Camp - and prior to my desktop purchase it was my only gaming machine. It played Aion, DCUO, StarCraft II, and Rift with no issues. While of course on my brand new gaming desktop SWTOR plays fine, it's awful on my notebook. Yes, I use my gaming desktop whenever I can, but I want to be able to use my notebook when I travel (such as, for example, going home for Christmas next week!). And my budget does not allow a new notebook just for gaming since I did just purchase a desktop! I will definitely try some of the mentioned suggestions in this thread but I am wondering: are the requirements for SWTOR *that* much higher than Aion, Rift, etc.? Has anyone else experiencing performance issues had the same experience (other MMOs play without issue)? Even if it is just anecdotal, I am interested in what others have experienced. peterpangelo
Been reading through some of this thread but dont have much time for the whole thing... So maybe this has already been addressed by the Mods... Anyone find it odd, that although we are tweaking our systems like no tomorrow and blaming ourselves that it was fine in BETA (my machine included). Look, I get that some people didnt have a single issue meaning you would rather tell the rest of us that it must be our PC. I didnt have to mess with any of the graphics settings, had it on high settings and high resolution with barely any issues at all. Only place I saw a problem was the opening building in Koribban, lagging me out, then I dropped to mid settings and was fine. Now with the game preorder release... I have to tweak everything to get my game working again? Does this seem right? Either the game has gone south between BETA and Launch OR in BETA, they intentionally did not include certain graphic featutres to ensure that they were really just testing if their servers could handle the bandwidth and snicker at us when they kept spamming us with the surverys asking if our game crashed and we kept saying "no", is the game laggy, we kept saying "no".... WELL ITS LAGGY NOW! Funny you say that, I'm *sort of* having the opposite effect... During the beta fps was terrible, and the dev's suggested a temporary workaround, using ATI's CCC (in my case). Well, launch came and I'm still having the same problem with mega low fps (we're talking 10 if I'm lucky) but the workaround isn't working! I made some other tweaks and got myself into the teens, but there's a huge problem here. I sure wish they'd sticky a dev post regarding the problem. PortoSalvo
I have the same problem some of you have been referring, I start the game with 30 fps average but after a few minutes it jumps to 5/10 fps in the same zone for no reason. PvP zones are forbidden, can't see anything from the sluggishness. I've tried everything, every graphics setting in the game and in my graphics card. Even formatted my hard drive and installed everything fresh and nothing works. I'll keep trying until the subscription ends but if this continues I'm out, spending more time fiddling with settings than actually playing isn't worth it. havokspartan
Ditto, same issues, I have 2 accounts with early access my 1st pc has windows 7 64-bit a radeon 6770 hd 2.4duo cpu 4gb ram and runs perfectly. 2nd pc has windows 7 64-bit a 9500GT nvidia 4gb ram and a 2.8duo ran perfectly 2 days ago, now every 3 or 4 minutes or when i kill a mob it drops from 50fps to 1-5 making it entirely unplayable even with lowering all the graphics to low and turning bloom off. Aswell as using the guides with the nvidia panel. Edited December 19, 2011 by havokspartan
The_Dovahkiin
Hello All, When i boot up the game my first i would say 15 minutes or so are great. I'm averaging around 70 to 40 FPS. Then after the time frame i mentioned above my FPS drops to under 5 for about 20 minutes. Sometimes even longer then it goes back to normal as if nothing ever happens. WolfPK
Having FPS issues, especially while PVPing. I get a steady fps of 20. In pvp i have around 10-15 which makes it very difficult to perform well. All the graphic settings are of course at the minimum or off. Resolution is at 1024 x 768 which is already extremely low, and i refuse to play at 800x600. I run with verticle sync off, and in fullscreen mode. Earlier today while i was playing, i got a message from norton that i had never got before, it said one of my CPU's was maxxed out. I pressed control alt delete and went into task manager, looked at the processor tab and i had two instances of SWTOR.exe running, one was taking like 48% of the cpu and the other was taking about 46% of the cpu. The first image name of SWTOR.exe had about 1,250,000K of memory usage and the other SWTOR.exe image name had about 68,000K of memory usage. I watched both of the CPU percentages for awhile and they changed a little bit, but the memory usage stayed the EXACT same. I would just really like to increase my in game frames per second, and wondered if someone could assist me. I ran a dxdiag, which i will post below. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.111025-1629) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 3070MB RAM Page File: 930MB used, 9979MB available Windows Dir: C:\windows DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce GT 440 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DE0&SUBSYS_082810DE&REV_A1 Display Memory: 1024.0 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200 Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0012.6633 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 12/19/2010 16:21:00, 6397696 bytes WHQL Logo'd: n/a WHQL Date Stamp: n/a VDD: n/a Mini VDD: nv4_mini.sys Mini VDD Date: 12/19/2010 16:21:00, 9887072 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71E3E-4EA0-11CF-876A-242800C2CB35} Vendor ID: 0x10DE Device ID: 0x0DE0 SubSys ID: 0x082810DE Revision ID: 0x00A1 Revision ID: 0x00A1 Video Accel: ModeMPEG2_C ModeMPEG2_D
Incursuss
Someone please give me some advice. I have all the same problems as everyone else and here is my current system specs. Can someone please tell me if its my system and/or whats the bottleneck or problem CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 2.8 (3 CPUs) GFX: 9800GTX (1gig) RAM: 2044mb (unknown exact speeds and pin count) Windows Vista If its not my system please tell me so I can move on to other trouble shooting. I beleive some of the problem may be the RAM. even on low settings at 1024x768 i get 20 FPS steadly but I can play Mass Effect 2 on full settings. makes no sense and my connection is always below 70-80 latency
Kheldarr
Stats: Dell Inspiron N7010 Laptop Processor: Intel® i3 CPU M370 @ 2.4 Ghz Ram: 4.00 gb (3.86 usable), 64-bit operating system Videocard not listed under computer properties. About 14 months old. I can log into the game, and select my characters, but as soon as it finishes loading I'm unable to move, and barely able to click "ok" on the guild message of the day. Once, briefly i was able to move forward a step. I've gone so far as to use system restore to change it to factory specs incase there were any viruses or malware but to no effect. The sound is great and when the graphics load properly, (once, all other times the characters are invisible and I cannot see the action buttons) I have no issues with it, but I am literally unable to move. Any suggestions? I'm just aboput at my wits end. Please feel free to message me By the way, I have played the late november beta test with no issues. Currently I am in the Taris spaceport. NaturaldisasterP
on my laptop (4gb ram win7 64bit core2duo 240m) i used to play beta just fine at low settings, around 30fps, and now i can't get more than 15, for no reason.
DEuZZ
Same here, and it's not my computer that does it. Since yesterday my server Bloodworthy crashed, as in went offline. Then when they got it back up and i went playing it was ZERO lagg! after awhile as server went back to be full, the crazy lagg startered again. Also note i don't have a slow computer, or net speed, i have 25000/5000 vdsl internet. It's not wireless internet.. Also i have 2 big ssd disc's that are in raid for even faster speed. Kunitsukami
You should say whether or not you are playing through a wired or wireless internet connection, say what your connection upload and download speeds are (tonnes of speediest websites will do this for you), how much of your hard drive space you have full along with what kind of HD you have. SO many things affect the read speed of game data now, if you're playing on an SSD 6GB/s with 240GB of space on it along with a top end card and a lot of free RAM then you should be getting good speeds as long as your net connection is good.
