Is There Really a Light Side or a Dark Side?

Hello.

They are actually two entities.

These entities were a sister and a brother, the younger sister and her older brother worked on becoming the first force users from a Force tree. The sister ended up learning, but was killed by her brother in anger, jealousy, and other emotions.

Thus, the balance of the force was disrupted, and the two entities are reborned after each death with no memory of their past lives.

So far, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Sidious were the first two that were canon.

Now it is Rey Palpatine and Ben Solo(Luke's real son, but Kylo Ren was told Han Solo was his father to avoid Kylo Ren from leaving the light side completely, which is why he felt weak after killing Han Solo. It was not his father. Luke named Kylo after Old Ben Kenobi.)

Entities in this life clearly learned the reversal of their original life, but as long as the sister does not die by the hands of her brother, and can avoid her brother from being consumed to the darkside, then the force will finally be in balance.

Thus, the sister entity is the chosen one.

Basically the stage is set for the Sister(Kylo) to end up saving her brother(Rey). I know this is strange, but Luke is aware of this, which is why they did not tell Kylo Ren who his real father was.

No. That's it. The force simply is, and light and dark are more like "methods" of using the force. The force itself does not have sides, it does not take sides, it simply is, and it has a will. The force is a cosmic entity that is responsible for binding the galaxy (I supposed we could add universe since this is Star Wars) together, it doesn't have the moral compass of a 5 year old. Light side and Dark side could best be described as methods of using the force, using it for selfless purposes, or selfish purposes. The force really doesn't really care how mortals use the force (unless they do something that goes directly against the force's "laws" like plagueis and sidious did) but it's always pushing for there to be a balance in good and bad in the galaxy, an equaling between life and death, etc.

No. There is the Force, and there is the Dark Side of the Force.

The Dark Side of the Force is when a force-user perverts the Force to their ends instead of letting it flow freely. Force Lightning, the various Sith rituals and techniques that shape, alter, and twist life, all of that is the Dark Side. It's unnatural.

There is no "Light Side" of the Force. There never has been. The 'dark vs. light' is in the game as a way of distinguishing political sides.

For a long time I would agree with this view. However it doesn't hold up anymore either in the EU/Legends or Canon anymore. It doesn't take into account the shifting and changing nature of canon in SW.

This view hasn't reflected the EU/Legends take for some time now. The novel Darth Plaguies addresses the issues pretty soundly. There is Ashla and Bogun, the light and dark side of the force. There tons of other places that bring up the Light Side of the Force including SWTOR.

As to Canon, while Lucas was still at the helm TCW's episode with the Ones really show were the view of the Force was going. There was the dark side embodied in the Son, the light in the Daughter, and the overarching will of the Force in the Father. You could also argue the Father was the Force in balance. The ideas have kept going in some of the stuff in Rebels with the Bendu. The Bendu specifically mentions the Ashla and the Bogun, the light and the dark and the middle way.

This also made it's way into Episode 7 with Snoke mentioning the dark and the light.

Regardless no matter which canon you prefer the Light Side of the Force is a thing now.

If I had to guess they watched the Mortis arc while totally drunk after reading about Hinduism

Though there actually is a fair convincing case to be made for Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter. You can look it up on youtube if your curious. The rest is total nonsense though.
