Bolster - Do you even need to grind the new gear?

Attention:

 

208 Enhancements (old pvp gear) are BETTER then 230 blues and purples! You gain MORE mastery, end, tertiary stat (opposite from what you put in), bonus healing/damage for slightly lower power and crit rating. ITS WORTH KEEPING YOUR OLD 208 ENHANCEMENTS IN YOUR GEAR. UNTIL YOU HAVE A FULL SET OF 230 ENHANCEMENTS THAT OUTWEIGH THE FULL 208.

 

Advanced Adapt Enhancement 40X vs. Adept Enhancement 50

 

Mastery: 7678 (+37)

End: 8953 (+13)

Power: 3218 (-17)

Crit: 2050 (-32)

Alacrity: 1871 (+10)

Bonus Damage: 3261.3 (+3.7)

Bonus Healing: 2347.4 (+2.7)

If we are lucky, Bolster might actually be working as intended to prevent to much of big a gear gap in pvp.

The best possible outcome is that bolster controls the stats so there is a max 2-5% difference from the entry lvl CXP gear and 300 CXP gear. Then if you go over the invisible "stat cap", you just automatically lose stats. If you are under, then you get bolstered up. A lot like it does in lowbies and mids now.

Obviously this will piss a whole lot of CXP grinders off. But it will be excellent for pvp because the gear grind will mainly be meaningless if all you do is pvp. This way pvp will still be a skill vs skill game and not gear vs gear.

If this is intended, words have not been made yet to describe how stupid it is..Why would they make a fresh new gearing system but the gear you are getting are worse than the old gear lmao. Like you say for us pvpers it would be nice, but logically it makes 0 sense.. so my money is on a fix... Edited by nellolello

Actually it's the way Bolster has always worked in pvp vs pve gear which didn't have expertise. There was a hard cap on 190 pve gear or you lost expertise (your main pvp stat). This allowed pvpers to still be able to compete and even have and advantage over highly geared pve guys.

Now that expertise is gone, you can bet there is an invisible gear barrier that affects bolster in a similar way. If there wasn't, then pvp will become unplayable once 300CXP people are geared vs new lvl CXP players. Consider the gear gap, it would be huge.

The way Bolster works in lowbies and mids is nearly perfect. My guess is they have used a similar formula in lvl 70 pvp.

What we need to discover is where that invisible hard cap lvl is on Bolster.

You say enhancements, but do you mean all inserts? (Armor, enhancement, mod, hilt)
