What? I don't get it, I am playing a game I love, why does these types of discussions plague on whether the game will be around for XXX years or this or that? Just play the freaking game! Oh wait it's the forum PvP...

Silly me!

Mate, there's no more hiding from the fact that this game's MMO-component is declining, badly, and has been for a long time.

For all it's flaws and lack of finishing, early TOR had something genuinely special in that sense, and there was at least the beginnings of a genuinely good, if design-paradigm-limited MMO there.

There's none of that, anymore --because an MMO requires evolution if it is to stay current, and this is especially vital for a vertically-progressed/linear themepark.

That all compels the question: What else is there to this game, once one takes away all the MMO components, as incompoWare seems Hell-bent on doing?

****-all, that's what.

Why not help new people, that I am seeing a lot of or something? Perhaps use your knowledge to do something constructive? Not trying to sound harsh, but I am sure a little positive action in the right direction would help brighten a new players day?

That has nothing to do with this. But I'll address it anyway (I'm assuming I'm not feeding a troll here, but w/ev...):

In a proper MMO, there should be enough for all players, new and old, solo- or group-orientated, to do that doesn't explicitly require this, but always presents it as a desirable option.

A proper MMO also ramps up the difficulty of its content such that the person getting into the "real" MMO content can learn not to be a drain on the community at their own pace. The legs of that were pulled out from under when IncompoWare made all the old levelling story-mode Flashpoints both level- and trinity-role neutral, and made the [HEROIC] missions far easier than at least some of them should have been. (Not like most H2s were ever that hard, regardless, but I'm digressing....)

So what exactly is there that needs help with?

There's not enough here anymore to make it even necessary, let alone worthwhile, even if the player in question is an actual newb, instead of a n00b.

All too many are the latter anymore, and are beyond help, solely because they choose to be, and therefore don't deserve help.

The re-hashed years-old content, and piss-easy new content doesn't punish them for being this.

The former who might need help, won't need it for long, because they can learn it all on their own. Again, blame the re-hashing/dumbing down for that:

An MMO is a fundamentally interdependent/social experience --even a misanthropic old **** like me accepts this-- but there's just no reason to socialise in this game anymore, and that is because of its current design-direction.

Again, what's left after that?

Nothing.

(Sorry, but 15 minutes of cutscenes, plus being deliberately slowed down by piss-easy mobs with scripted stuns that your CC-break doesn't effect --ref: Chapter 12-- or piss-easy boss fights artificially lengthened by 15-seconds-apart "Psych! I R invuln nao!" --ref.: All chapters from 10 onward-- isn't anywhere near enough.)

I do see what your saying, sorry didn't mean to sound like a troll my idea follows like this, instead of downing on the game and perhaps do more for people starting out, it would actually help the game get the content you are looking for as in a positive experience for one person, could bring another person to the game, or more? Just an idea

It's a good idea in principle, but like I said...There's just no need for it anymore. This may have been different once, but no more.

As well, the real problem:

These devs, they don't listen. They have never listened. Also, they lie. They've done it before, they'll do it again.

They're demonstrably incompetent, they've always been arrogant and complacent, and they couldn't care less as long as enough good little consumers keep buying those asinine gambling bags.

There was a time early on, when legitimately criticising the things wrong with the game could earn one a forum-ban.

I'm surprised they haven't started doing that again yet, although I'm sure they will once we get into the time between seasons 1 and 2 at the latest.

That combination together, is what will ultimately prove this game's undoing.

There's only so much we can do, given that we don't own or control the service.

The rest is up to them, and they've never stepped up in this game's history. Always dodged, shifted blame, muzzled criticism, or just simply ignored things, for years in some cases.

We've put up with it because it's StarWars, but that's just not good enough anymore.

I said it before, I'll say it again:

The only thing that can truly save this game is a completely new dev-team and company, one that actually has both a clue and a shred of integrity. As it is, I give it a year, maximum.

MMO gaming needs to go to Non central MMO gaming, someone running a server of maybe 100-300 people in a city, say 200 people play zombie creatures 100 play zombies, zombies destroy infrastructure, humans have to find a way out by turning on the power, fixing cars, fixing water treatment plants ect...

its not mmos are stale its their ideas are all the same and nothing is innovative

In all honesty I think BW is in over their head trying to manage a MMO. Their history is the classic RPG. So rather then develop like a MMO, delivering content to all playstyles (ie: pvp, OPs, story), when things got a little tough, their solution was to try and convert to RPG content, and they could be losing the MMO base.

I stated in the beginning of this whole transition, they were playing a bet. Catering to the casual, story only people. That have no interest in any type of group content. If that number would be able to counter the lost number of group content people.

I enjoy KoTFE, but there is only so many times I will grind through that story. If after this season ends, if there isnt some surprise content like a operation, I will probably be calling it quits, along with half or more of my guild.

Im just curious by the way, im wondering what most of the forum would honestly do?

Which would you want?

Those are the only 2 options by the way.

1. Cartel market still junky, remasking old items, making new shiny stuff for people to spend cartel coins on ect... and KOTFE content or

2. Have Swtor destroyed completely.

Which would it be? Im curious?

Sadly id rather it go on as it is, its better than nothin imo

I have left as of today. Unsubbed. Once 2 months worth of updates apply, I'll be logging in and kicking everyone from my guild but my friends and my toons. Just in case Bio gets their **** together in a year or 2...

Haven't played in 2 months. Went back to WoW. Since I haven't been there since SWTOR release - lots for me to do. SWTOR should copy their LFR like they have most everything else. Sure everyone will know where the idea is from (LFG right??), but then raiders would still have 'some' sort of avenue for their millions of Alts that Bio has encouraged everyone 'to create' over the years, to keep those monthly subs cranked. So many 2x, 12x, now 6x stretches.. I got max toons fallin' out of my pockets wherever I go.. 'oh excuse me, oh that's my 3rd Jug tank, let me pick that up before someone steps on it.'

'Star Wars' pulled me here, friends kept me here. Bioware has sent me elsewhere. This is not the game it once was, and what it's turned into is unappealing to me as an MMO player. (You had me at 8 stories; lost me at 1 story).

I hope this 'expansion' and where they are taking SWTOR stays profitable or at least has a long maintenance window, if nothing else but to exist for those that still find it fun to play.

Toodles

PS: Op, your options are too narrow and obtuse. So I take option 2... Option 1 is just BS glowy items that they sucker in fools with to make money.

PPS: DIE CARTEL MARKET, DIE
