I have the 308 error and I have been just letting it sit while reading the forums. Every couple of minutes, I see a yellow progress bar across the bottom of the launcher. The launcher is using quite a bit of processor but shows nothing for disk or network activity. Not a clue what it is doing with all that processor.

Installation was completed. I was able to log in and everything.

 

It's very odd that the OLD launcher isn't trying to automatically update itself to the new one.

Same here, 52% processor and 86Mb RAM but launcher not showing any progress.

I tried the pre patcher on another computer and it worked A LOT FASTER. Google SWTOR pre patcher. Download it. Unzip it. Open it. Click Download LIve. Then run the Launcher. You still may have to force close the launcher a few times but it will install things 1 at a time. Then force close rinse and repeat til it is done.

 

I like how Bioware wants to act like they know what is going on.... Asking people to send in their logs is absolutely stupid. So you're telling us that 90% of the SWTOR players have messed up computers lol. As a person that works very deep in it this is a joke and a prime example of how EA runs their company. They won't ever admit fault it's always some one else's fault. NEVER there own.

As a person that works very deep in it this is a joke and a prime example of how EA runs their company. They won't ever admit fault it's always some one else's fault. NEVER there own.

 

"As a person that works very deep in it" you should know that if they don't have any local machines experiencing 308 errors they need the log file from launchers that are experiencing the problem so they can trace the source.

Got it to install eventually but had to force close it via the taskmanager after every asset download to get it done

It's trying to retrieve patch from VIP 127.0.0.1...that ain't going to work. Our PC's don't have the patch. Change that link, and you'll be right as rain.

As i stated in the post you NEED TO FORCE CLOSE the launcher a few times to get it kick started. This is like jump starting a very very old car that hasn't run in 70 years. Even though I have had better results doing that.

 

This is a EA server side issue. Not a personal issue.
