A must for all companions....

In the most recent expansion there is an option to SOLO a flashpoint.... choosing this option grants you a special droid called a Combat Support Droid. This droid (as far as I could tell) ...does everything and is very helpful indeed. He heals, does dps and tanks......whateve you need at any moment. If they would make ALL companions like this that would be SOOOOOO Awesome! Then we could simply choose our companion based on who we like instead of who we HAVE to use due to their limited skillset. PLEASE do this!!!!

Then the game would play itself and no legwork or brain usage would be necessary.

A blind, deaf, comatose, lobotomy patient could play it.

Yeah, that would be way too easy.

HOWEVER, the droid does handle its class duties better. It guards you as a tank and so on.

Companions are kinda sucky at that.

That's because companions are meant to be an accessory, not the ultimate bad*ss.

You are the Hero of Tython.

You are the Barsen'Thor.

You are leader of Havoc Squad.

You are the Voidhound.

You are the mighty Wrath.

You are a Dark Council Member.

You are the latest Champion of the Great Hunt.

[REDACTED] :p

You can't be the big HE-ROOOO and then expect to rely on your companions to do most of the legwork. Brain usage is necessary.

Otherwise, as stated earlier, game plays itself while you clip your toe nails. :D

Not trying to be mean, but you all kinda totally missed the point of what I am saying. What I am saying has absolutely NOTHING to do with how powerful the companion is.... only that any and all companions could fill any role u need. The amount they heal, dps, or tank and or how good they do each is not in my comment.

Even then, it makes little to no sense.

I for one have serious issues imagining Tharan Cedrax or Talos Drellik tanking. One goes around Pacifism way too much, while the other expects to die in every confrontation.

Also, Scourge healing? Khem?

This has been argued since before release and was their original plan. They changed it, launched the game and now we're stuck with how it is.

I don't want all my companions to be identical. It makes no sense that Pierce, the hardened soldier of the Empire, would be as skilled at healing as Quinn, the trained operative. I prefer my individualized specialists over generic faceless companions.

I have tried out each and every single companion for every class, and in my experience, they are all fine if you gear them properly and treat them like AIs instead of players. Of course Quinn will stop healing you when you break line of sight. There's no person sitting behind the keyboard ready to move so they can see you again. It's a program with a certain number of steps that it will only follow in a certain path.

I'm glad they went with story and companions with personalities, instead of giving us a one-size-fits-all droid to follow us as we level. I don't want a generic companion that does everything for me. I'd rather have Vette, or Khem, or Vector, or Kira the dirty kill stealer, or Nadia, or any of the other well fleshed out companions, and take a few seconds between fights.

Lord Scourge the healer doesn't work for me but I could see a dps doc or a healing Kira. They should give companions more customization options (and let us change their appearances - I would love to make my T7 look like a Drone from Oblivion). Maybe in the next x-pac. Letting then do everything at once would be bad.

If you don't like Lt Pierce or Lord Scourge as a healer then don't use them as a healer. But the flexibility of being able to choose your companion based on their personality, look, or whatever reason would be a nice feature rather than being forced to choose a specific companion in order to fulfill a combat function.
