Flearos
Would anyone else like to see storm moved to a baseline skill maybe remove the root but give it back in talents in the tank tree? In its place maybe give us a skill that increases shield chance by say 45-50% for 4-6 seconds on a 45s-1min CD. Thoughts ideas...

I am not sure I would want to see Storm as a low tier talent, that being said I do think that all Vanguard classes should get the gap closer and it should be a trainable skill, much like they did with Hold the Line. I think the buff of shield chance by as much as you say would make the Vanguard tank almost undamageable and quite frankly overpowered in a lot of fights. (i.e. Cartel Warlord, Draxus, Brontes etc) I think that another cooldown is needed but more in line with Guardian's Saber Reflect or the cleanse that Shadow's get with Battle Readiness (I think, I don't play my Shadow much so I maybe wrong.) I would much prefer a cleanse or even failing that, given our lack of cooldowns compared to the other two tank classes but our smooth damage profile, a armor debuff similar to the Guardian's through the use of High Impact Bolt would be very nice as well. Also 5 seconds of 100% shield chance every minute is no where near as powerful as saber reflect every minute or something like that, because it doesn't affect internal/elemental damage. Also I like the idea of the OP. Get rid of the root on storm, make it baseline, do something with grapple, and then put a DCD where storm used to be that runs off shield chance (and maybe tie Static Surge to the new DCD, so taking damage per GCD during Shield Overcharge - cause thats what i'd call it - causes a free explosive surge to go off or something) I mean, even with 100% absorb investment where possible, the best you can get is ~70% absorb for short periods of time - and 5 seconds of 30% damage from kinetic/energy damage isn't as good as 5 seconds of 0% damage from ranged/tech/force, but its more fun
TheSupaCoopa
Duran'del here: Have both Harpoon and Storm baseline, and give a 100% shield chance DCD.
AmagonofBloodfin
yes, a thousand times yes. you took a ranged class and made all it's ranged abilities 10m, and yet every other melee class has some sort of closing ability on a way shorter cd. Juggernauts Force Charge - 30m - 15sObliterate - 10m - 15s << spec Assassins Force Speed - 150% - 20sForce Pull - 30m - 45s <<spec Operatives Stealth - natural closerExfiltrate - 12m - no CD Powertechs Grapple - 30m - 45sJet Charge - 30m - 15s << spec as you can see, you basically give the PT/Van the longest CD ability as their default "closer" where everyone else get's their 15-20sec abilities as their default and only have to spec into their secondary movement based ability if they want something extra. this needs to change. morfius
Yeah sure, delete harpoon in exchange. Are you serious, does Shadow loose they force speed to get force pull?
Ayakin_Solaris
Are you serious, does Shadow loose they force speed to get force pull? No, but the Shadow's pull is in the tanking tree, which is where Storm currently is for the Vanguard.
morfius
No, but the Shadow's pull is in the tanking tree, which is where Storm currently is for the Vanguard. Then just put harpoon on place of storm, without removing storm buff in same talent. At least on PvE play harpooning target have limited usage (most of time you have packed mobs/adds and extracting one of them make you no good as you still need to run to those that stay at range) to get some single ranged patrol mob. On boss fight harpoon is useless for DPS, and when boss moves a lot, VG DPS gets screwed compared to other melee ones (except pre 2.7 scoundrels).
