PVE: From Vigilence to Focus

So I finally made the leap of faith after reading some of the threads here and dropped Vigilence for Focus (doing purely pve content).

I'm finding that I'm parsing pretty much the same as I was I using vig on single targets and bosses but fights with multiple targets and dailies are finishing much quicker.

Just thought I share my parses, not the best in the world but I think it's definitely proof that Focus pve is viable.

...how are you getting 1900+ with just 61's?

The focus rotation is much more forgiving than vigilance, though you miss out on some great survivability. Make sure you take momentum, it turns blade storm into a nice filler ability. This is what I use, though you can move some stuff around if you need to. If you have all the accuracy you need in your gear you can move the point out from there. I find agility training can help out with tanks kiting PVE bosses while you use zealous leap, it's more useful than a cost reduction on focused defenses (which is a terrible ability), a cost reduction to force exhaustion (which doesn't break the bank), or second wind for a heal on your stun break. If I were to change anything about that spec, I'd take a point out of accuracy and agility training for second wind, or 2 points in agility training.

Went snooping through your logs to see if you had any vig parses uploaded and saw you did. You consistently pull 1800+ with focus and between 2 vig parses went from 1500 to 1750. Sounds like typical vigilance woes to me.

I really wish they would fix that damn spec. I hate focus. :(

Solid parses though man.

To be fair, in the first Vig parse I forgot to switch back to Shien which explains the 1500 and in both parses, I'm still equipted with Focus optimized gear (high surge/low crit). I feel that Vig is still be slightly above Focus on single target but it's at the mercy of RNG (Zen Strike) whereas Focus is much more consistent.

On the bright side for Vig users, according to data-mined info for 1.7, Focus is getting a big nerf (in the way of sweep/smash super crit damage reduction) and Vig getting buffs such as Dispatch at above 30% target health.

Looking forward to seeing how the buffed Vig turns out.

Seems very high. I am doing about 1840 in full 63 on the dummy...

I remember when playing wow, my sister was trying to do feral druid cat form dps and she was following my rotation exactly and couldn't come close to my dps numbers, we had the same gear and everything, maybe its one of those type of things?
