SWTOR: more important than Tiger Woods PGA Golf

EA boss John Riccitiello weighed in on the Star Wars: The Old Republic success debate, saying the game was "very much in line with our original assumptions"

The Old Republic is in EA's top 10 franchises in terms of profitability, "but it's not in our top five". "So it's a business contributor, while important, is not as important as Medal of Honor or Battlefield or FIFA or Madden or The Sims or SimCity, but it's more important than Tiger Woods PGA Golf."

Also don't forget they got to pay LA for star wars!

About 35% of the revenue - ouch. For a failure of a game with plummeting subscriptions only five months out, that's got to sting:

This may be the first "top tier" MMO to convert to a free-to-play model within the first year. It may be the only way to justify keeping it on the books after it's beaten to a pulp by Tera, Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, The Mists of Pandaria, and Farming Simulator 2011. I mean, at this rate it would take them years and years (five, maybe six?) just to earn back their investment. Lucas Arts is going to want to see some money before that, so they may force EA's hand to take the game in an aggressively free-to-play direction (pay to win, power leveling, everything).

Hello Everybody!

We appreciate your interest in talking about information put out during the Investors Call but in the interest of consolidating conversations we are going to close this thread as there is already an active thread about it here. We suggest continuing your discussion there.

Thank you!
