Philosomanic
Yeah... look, the build you're looking for doesn't exist. Every upgrade to survivability you get will drop your damage. You basically have six options on the spectrum of damage to survivability. HIGH DAMAGE 04/06/31 Full Assault (Plasma)08/31/02 Full Tactics (High Energy)02/08/31 Assault Defensive (Plasma)07/32/02 Tactics Defensive (High Energy)22/17/02 Iron Fist (Ion)31/08/02 Shield Specialist (Ion) HIGH SURVIVABILITY Pick a build. If you want more damage, go up the list. If you want more survivability, go down. Obviously, the builds have some flexibility, but they should give you a good basic idea. Now stop posting single sentence fragments. If you have something to contribute and/or a more intelligible, helpful question, fine. But stop saying "I want to kill everyone and be impossible to kill" over and over again. That doesn't exist. You have to choose what balance between damage and survivability you want. There's no way to avoid that choice, and we can't make it for you.
RogeAce
I want more dps to do lots of damage I know I can't have the best of both but I still want to withstand a bit of damage I'd also if posible is to have some amo regain .

Please see above post. Start at the top, and work your way down until you have enough defenses. Any of those builds has the basic tools needed for Ammo management. Seriously, you're just asking for the same thing over and over. We've given you plenty of build ideas. Go try some out, and come back with specific feedback and questions. Stop telling us that you want DPS and survivability.
MatticusFinch
I see the douchebags come out early on these posts. I think I speak on everyone's behalf when saying "reroll" is useless information. Moving on: great post of the trees, philosomanic. Here's my extra two cents. RogueAce, you keep putting out builds that mix Shield Specialist (SS) and Assault Specialist (AS), you really can't mix these two. Both trees require their respective energy cells to be maximized, and I think you lose too many important proccing abilties in AS if you're in Ion Cell and your defenses will suffer greatly if you're in Plasma Cell i.e. they don't coexist well. That is what people are telling you here on the boards. I am currently running a variant on Philosomanic's 8/31/2 to be used with Ion Cell instead of High Energy Cell as an experiment: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801hMhZrsrbobfkdsZb.1 I won't lie, I don't love it a ton. I equip all DPS gear except that I use a shield and a tank helmet. It has pretty good survivability, though, especially compared to the High Energy Cell version of it. If you want to give it a try, go for it. I actually am partial to the suggestion of using full SS with DPS gear. I'll have to give it a try. Cheers, vanguards! Tremont
to the OP - go Iron Fist if you want the best balance of offense & defense, it also happens to be the highest DPS build for Vanguard. This is incorrect in regards to being the highest DPS build.

Ion cell with anything but a tank spec is a waste of time and space. It's horrible with both Tactics and Assault, though it holds up with Tactics a bit better than it does with Assault. The survivability of Tactics with Ion Cell is nil compared to the dps lost. Remember you may stay alive 2 - 3 seconds longer, but you won't kill anyone nearly as fast so instead of dyinig while killing one or two of 3 guys, you now die 3 seconds later, while killing 0 of 3. If you are looking for survival with dps run Tactics with two piece Combat Medic gear for the Increased shield. It's worth it. Ion Cell is good for a pinch move if you have a healer with you and you want to drop guard on him, but the amount of mobility, heat management, and damage lost is so high that your healer would prefer you be an assett instead of a liability so stay HEC. Yeah, I agree. I personally am not a big fan of tactics, generally, and this latest spat with the Ion Cell-Tactics hybrid was no bueno. I already knew that AS-Ion didn't go tegether, as I posted that to the OP on this thread. However, I am currently in a full SS (34/7/0) to work as both a raid tank spec and PvP. I find that if I put on my dps gear for wzs, I can put out a lot of damage in Ion Cell while maintaining good survivability. So as far as the best survival/dps hybrid goes, I would vote for this one, or some more focused PvP variant that would include Heavy Stock or Blaster Augs instead of Smoke Grenade or such... iNeXxS
If you want a build with decent survivability and decent damage, I think this 31/8/2 spec is best. I prefer this to an Iron Fist spec because Energy Blast is a nice ability that's free, off the GCD and can provide a little extra burst and ammo regen. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801GRGbzRrRMRZMcMzZb.1 I prefer to play with Assualt Specialist though, once you have that much damage you can't go back, even though you are pretty squishy.
