Lord_Ricdel
was the star forge only a weapon of the dark side? having an infinite amount of ships doesn't make it evil does it? sure it can be used to do evil acts, such as when Malak used it to drain life from captured jedi. i was just wondering if the Sith Emperor and his forces could have conquered the republic if the Star forge wasn't destroyed and was used instead to aid the Jedi and the Republic. Rayla_Felana
Most Rakatan technology corrupts and feeds off of a strong Dark Side user, the Star Forge was one of these.
Lord_Ricdel
is this also why the Rakatans themselves lost their force sensitivity? since all their machinations relied on dark side power and not light? the force punished them, in a sense? Mirdthestrill
It's been theorized that the rakatans were wiped out by Abeloth, and that's the strongest explanation we have right now.

Lord_Ricdel
weren't the rakatans ravished by some plague that only affected them?

openair
weren't the rakatans ravished by some plague that only affected them? Yes. This plague occurred sometime before the fall of the Infinite Empire in 25,200 BBY. It drastically reduced the population of the Rakata species and the survivors lost their connection to The Force. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rakatan_plague
Captain_Zone
First I've heard of it. Yeah, apparently this "Abeloth" is the Star Wars version of a Reaper invasion.... only by himself. Since I'm guessing that his name is synonymous with Abaddon or Apollyon (The Destroyer), then yeah....
