Incorrect Ability Cooldown Overlays Displayed (Currently On Live Too)

Does anybody else have issues with incorrect cooldown values being displayed on their toolbar? I get this all the time and it's very frustrating as it causes confusion during combat. An ability will be showing 43 seconds until cooldown, but is actually available immediately.

This started in the patch where they enabled the cooldown countdown customizations (highlighting, seconds until countdown overlay, etc.)

I know for a fact that the issue is caused by using and switching between multiple toolbars. I have general repro steps, but not exact repro steps. This is easily reproducible if you just play the game a bit using this setup.

*** SETUP ***

  • I don't have the left or right toolbars enabled.
  • I have the two-row toolbar at the bottom.
  • I have my T and G keys bound to "scroll to next toolbar" and "scroll to previous toolbar" respectively.
  • When I hit the T or G key, the top toolbar of the two-row toolbar changes. The bottom stays the same.
  • Toolbar 1 (the default) buffs and travel abilities.
  • Toolbar 2 has healing abilities.
  • Toolbar 3 has attack abilities.
  • Toolbar 4 has crowd control abilities.
  • I have the toolbar cooldown customizations to overlay the countdown timer onto the buttons.
  • I believe I have it set to "show seconds" maximized. 10 seconds?

*** SCENARIO ***

  • I login.
  • I use Quick Travel Pass on Toolbar 1. The Quick Travel Pass cooldown will say 30m.
  • I hit the T key to "toolbar up" to Toolbar 2 so now my two toolbars displayed are my healing abilities (Toolbar 2) and combat abilities (Toolbar 3).
  • I enter combat with some friends.
  • During the fight, I need to "toolbar up" to CC a mob. I do that quickly, and then "toolbar down" to return to my healing abilities.
  • Or during the fight, someone dies and gets a combat rez. In that case, I "toolbar down" to reapply a buff quickly, and then "toolbar up" again to return to my healing abilities.

*** EXPECTED BEHAVIOR ***

  • As I switch up and down between toolbars, the countdown overlays should be correct for each button on the currently displayed toolbars.

*** ACTUAL BEHAVIOR ***

  • Often times, I'll see the overlay for Toolbar 1 displayed on top of Toolbar 2.
  • For example, in the scenario above, the Quick Travel Pass countdown from Toolbar 1 will overlay the healing ability on Toolbar 2 that is in the same slot. This is why it is confusing. During fast combat, one of my healing abilities will *show* that it is on 30m cooldown, but it is actually available immediately.
  • If I do nothing but "toolbar up" and "toolbar down" again, the overlay corrects itself.

It doesn't repro 100%. It's definitely during combat as I'm switching toolbars frequently. It *may* have to do with switching toolbars before the GCD cooldown completes, but I haven't fully figured it out yet.

At my next gaming opportunity, I'll try to nail down exact repro steps.

Hope this helps. Anybody with similar experiences or additional information, please help.

Thanks.

I have seen this a lot on my Gunslinger (cause it has the auto-cover bar that pops up and goes away). It tends to get some of the longer cooldown skills 'stuck'. Or it puts the cooldown on the other skill in the cover bar in the same slot.

So, you are not alone.

Good write up on it though, very thorough.

This happens quite regularly on my Marauder where the timer will stop at a number. The ability will not be greyed out and it is usable, but the timer for some reason doesn't count to zero properly. Annoying when you are quickly looking to see if an ability is off the GCD and it is, but you don't catch that the timer is has stopped

This error also occurs whenever you enter into conversation (like say, handing in a quest).

Your cooldowns will freeze when you enter the conversation and not refresh until you use the ability to restart the timer.

What he said. Most commonly happens on longer cooldowns in my experience.

Mine does this as well. The counter will freeze at a random number until I click it again.

yes, this is an issue i've noticed as well. sometimes the CD number fails to clear properly.

i'd recommend that you put your report into a /bug in-game since apparently the CSRs have gently reminded people that these forums are apparently not the proper forum for bugs. :confused:yes, i am confused by that as well, but the yellows have said it several times to use /bug in-game to report such issues.

Good idea.

I'll copy/paste my original post into an in-game bug tonight when I get home from work. :)

I also get this error. This will probably get moved to the ticket forums. The obvious work around is to ctr+U+U, but hopefully they will address this with a minor patch in the near future.

This post was *already* moved from the Public Test Server forum to this forum, which I assume is the correct place since it was the forum moderator who moved it.

Yeah, I dunno why either. I do know using the in-game /bug tool on PTS is completely hit or miss on if it will work. I once spent a half hour writing up all sorts of NEW interface glitches for the PTS, and then it promptly told me 'there was an error submitting the ticket', and then deleted all my effort.

So, I read the guidelines for the PTS forum, and it says "Additionally, we encourage you to use these forums for feedback and bug reporting.". So, huh. LOL.
