Deewe
The Op has a point, before launch we had a great topic running on with nice quests ideas too bad it didn't help.
rpglord
I cant say I see any difference. I bet if you look past the fluff and story telling, ALL of Skyrims quests involve kill X...arrive at Y...or collect/interact with Z. How can they not? Just because they have more of a sugar coated narrative does not make them anything less than generic vehicles for xp gain and as such, even RPGs have recurring themes. Like I said, even DAO was just kill x...travel to y....or interact with z...underneath all the fluff...Skyrim is no different. Don't get me wrong I love RPGs as much as MMORPGs I just dont see what the OP is driving at here... Driz Driz Its not issue of sugar coated narrative..because bioware with VA has some very interesting narrative to quests, interaction with npc's and storylines are not the problem. I mentioned some quest types in skyrim : I did not mention what game or quest giver has told me to do-so I ignored sugar coated narrative,I mentioned what I was actually doing. It was literally go,find companion, convince him to go with you and sacrifice him/her at the altar. It was literally escape from somewhere-if you kill enemies or not game does not care. It certanly does not count how many enemies you killed. Etc.. Edited February 18, 2012 by rpglord

FieldMarshall
I never was fun of MMORPGs for one simple reason-I found them more boring and repetitive then single player games Exactly, you dont like MMORPG games. There is your "problem" The whole core of the genre is built around repetitive tasks that you dont really like.
Asavar
lets be honest a 5 year old could figure out how to play this game. Well, you ARE a player, right? So this must be true.
Mrs_Murder
This is not a single player RPG . Judging by the (lack of) endgame content: yes it is. level 50 is game over.
mutharex
This is simply not true.. just some missions i remember of the top of my head.. On Coruscant you get a mission to help a police chick to capture a guy in a bar.. you can kick his *** or persuade him to turn himself in. On Balmorra the is a Escort mission escorting force sensitives, also on Balmorra a mission to heal injured soldiers.. just a couple examples. and there are prolly way more Of course but when you make a pointless post you don't want to talk about stuff that ....invalidates your post. OP MMOs aren't for you, but never the less there's a lot of people who enjoy those mechanisms, so why don't you stick to SRPGs and let people enjoy themselves?? TOR is Multiplayer, is Online, you can play with other people or play the GTN, when you get to 50 you have plenty content, I know you grasshoppers disagree but that's just because you are really, really silly people

How long have you been level 50? I didn't think it was boring either until I got BM and my guild started clearing NM stuff. So no, we are not silly people. Being 50 feels like a single player game simply because you run out of things to do. And don't give me that "rushing content" BS. Many of us have played this game for 2 months; that's plenty of time to do PVE and PVP. And lol "play the GTN". Don't know if trolling or.. Monoth
I will agree that MMO's have been stuck with 90's game design principles..... I think the biggest offender of that is when they put 3 mobs standing togeather with another 3 mobs just 10 feet away, yet when you attack the first 3 mobs the other 3 mobs just ignore you... No, I am not trolling about the GTN, my main makes a good 20-30K almost every day. The fact that the GTN isn't a clone of WOW AH might have prevented you from actually using it properly, like most of the game. Face it, TOR isn't for you, it's for people who like GAMES for FUN, not for epeen powerlevellers for which the 'REAL' game starts at 50. You should go back to tardcraft ASAP. Pretty please? I don't like playing a game if people like you play it. It sort of ... depreciate it...

I actually responded to his/her post and explained why it doesnt invalidate my original post. I agree that games like this are not for me,however I like playing with other people. I did group with my friends and we cleared some heroics and flashpoints..and it was fun. Problem is that I have to get through this repetetive content so I can do stuff which I can enjoy. And it doesnt have to be like that. I will be sticking to SRPG,but not because I dont like the concepts of MMORPG-tha game where you can play with other people. I LOVE that concept. I just dont like boring and repetetive games
Wolfeisberg
I'm sure one day MMORPGs will get back to it's routes when they were not mindless ..... completely mindless..... mindless..............mindless.................. lets be honest a 5 year old could figure out how to play this game. There were what, 2 games prior to Everquest? UO and Meridian 59. Never played those 2 games, but did play Everquest from launch to 4 years, and Everquest was more mindless then WoW and even SWTOR. Most of my leveling in EQ and just about everyone else I knew consisted of camping, with one person to pull the mobs to us to kill, and we would do this for many many hours standing in one spot doing the same grind over and over again. Wolfeisberg
Judging by the (lack of) endgame content: yes it is. level 50 is game over. ah well, what do you expect, when you rush to 50, and then you rushed through all the end game operations and Flashpoints including nightmare modes in less then 2 months time? No developer can create enough content for people like you that can complete everything in less then 2 months.

Jederix
Re: first few responses and the countless more to come: And the bioware defense force strikes! No vehicle quests? No bombing runs? One escort quest imp side. Fully voiced quest givers are totally wasted here when there is no variety in quests at all. After your first 3 quest givers the only variety is a bit of fluff which is useless because your actions make no lasting effect on the game world anyway so who cares why your doing these things? Welcome to MMO's. Enjoy your stay.

Keloran
Thats exactly what I am doing..while waiting for ME3 What I was wondering with this topic is why this kind of repetetive game would be for anyone ? Who in their right mind would enjoy playing this kind of game versus singleplayer games which provide more fun playing ? ? PvP. The only reason I play SWTOR is for PvP. Unsubbed because the world is static, boring, bland, confined, and linear; community is the worst I've ever seen in any MMO, and the PvP is going nowhere, 1.2 be damned. Can't wait for GW2.
