Varicite
That's sure gonna hurt our dps a bit >_< No they're not, quit spreading false info. From the patch notes, it sounds like they are actually BUFFING surge. So turn that frown upside down.

It now reaches diminishing returns the same way as other damage ratings, and its per point damage contribution has been reduced by approximately 10%. Varicite
Surge rating has been re-balanced. It now reaches diminishing returns the same way as other damage ratings, and its per point damage contribution has been reduced by approximately 10%. Surge rating already HAS diminishing returns that are more severe than other damage ratings. If it reaches DR at the same rate as the other ratings, then this means that you will be able to stack MORE surge rating than you currently can before hitting DR. Because Surge rating currently gives (iirc) the most returns per rating, and they are raising the DR cap of surge rating in 1.1.3, they are reducing the per point contribution by 10% to keep it in line w/ the other ratings. Overall, it should either work out to be a slight buff to the current model. It's not a nerf.

And we have to pretty much just take it. Since itemization is awful.

Rophez
So basically, get to 200-250 surge and stop worrying about it... At least this nerf hits everyone.
Militum
They have to flatten Surge a bit. Otherwise people being assisted on in PVP will continue to drop too quickly.

Overall, it should either work out to be a slight buff to the current model. It's not a nerf. Yes it is a nerf? From a post in the PTR forums: Old formula: Surge % = 50 + 50 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.5 ) )^( ( SurgeRating / max(Level,20) ) / 0.1 ) ) New formula: Surge % = 50 + 30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( ( SurgeRating / max(Level,20) ) / 0.11 ) ) I'll just plug in some surge rating numbers assuming the character is max level. Surge Rating = 50 Old =59.14% New=57.96% Surge Rating = 150 Old=72.72% New=68.10% Surge Rating =250 Old=81.79% New=73.57% Surge Rating =350 Old=87.84% New=76.53% Surge Rating =600 Old=95.5% New=79.25% YOU stop spreading misinformation. Go out and do actual numbers or see actual numbers before making hand-wavy assumptions. Edited February 11, 2012 by cdstephen

Mapex
Surge > Mountain Dew. It was also much greener and cooler looking. They need to bring it back again. And no, Vault doesn't count. Screw Vault. Edited February 11, 2012 by Mapex
