Weekly Champion Comms (Under New System)

I decided to do the math behind how many champion commendations a player could potentially get in a week under the new gearing system that Bioware has proposed. Under this new system champion bags will now contain 7 champion commendations and 15 centurion commendations.

Warzone Weekly: 3 Champion bags

Ilum Weekly: 3 Champion bags

Ilum Daily: 1 Champion bag per day * 7 days = 7 Champion bags

Warzone Daily: 1 Champion bag per day * 7 days = 7 Champion bags

Purchaseable Champion bags: (3 Warzones * 80 Warzone Commendations * 7 days) / 800 Warzone Commendations = 2 Champion bags <- rounded down.

*Assumptions: Average of 80 warzone commendations per warzone, only running 3 warzones a day.

So, using the above assumptions one can anticipate receiving 22 champion bags per week which equates to 154 champion commendations per week.

Using the costs posted below (still missing earpiece and implants) to get all possible champion gear would take a player around 5 weeks.

642 Champion Commendations / 154 Champion Commendations per week = 5 weeks <- rounded up.

***Please be aware that I'm using some set conditions here for ease of calculating these statistics. Other factors could come into play such as server population (faction), and the players amount of time to dedicate themselves to a schedule set above. Also, keep in mind if multiple warzones are played in a day you would still receive commendations for said warzones and it would go towards buying additional bags. As detailed above 800 warzone commendations is equal to 1 champion bag.

I still need to figure out the item costs of champion gear. Not at home right now to log into the game to see how much a full suit of champion gear would cost, but if someone can add up the number of champion commendations a full suit would cost I can determine how long it would be to gear up fully using just champion commendations.

This is all assuming that you actually get credit for the warzones you win. That is still a bug that almost doubles the amount of warzones you need to win.

I like the new system, if that is what the numbers turn out to be. Lets you make pretty steady progress and plan upgrades (I always upgrade my weakest piece).

It also makes the idea of leveling/gearing an Alt for PVP much less daunting than previously.

~6 weeks getting every single bag possible to get full champ is a pretty long time, anything longer and people won't even come close to getting full champ before hitting battlemaster

considering some people have gotten full champ in well under a week with the RNG system, that might even be a little too long

it's a steady gear up, but if you're talking 1 comm per bag like the columi comms, no-ones going to even bother at fresh 50

You get 7 comms per bag...

I wou'd say you're estimating ~20% low. someone who is actually into pvp (the target market for pvp gear) is'nt going to play only 3 warzones a day. in fact you're not going to get your daily done playing 3 warzones a day. Even if you win every game you enter, you still have to play 5-6 matches to get 3 that will count.

Realistically, you're buying an 800 comm bag every day if you actually pvp, so that's an extra 5 bags/week or 35 extra champ comms/week. Which knocks over a week off your time to get fully geared. Which makes it faster than the current RNG based grind in my experience.

so what they are doing is they are closing the casino after people were running around in there making a muck walking out loaded and now the people waiting in line to get in are having to go back to slaving away for ****** gear whilst still being miles behind those who exploited valor gains to get BM

You bring up a valid point. Not every warzone will be a win (not every WZ still counts), and players could play addiitonal warzones. Other variables are that people will not complete a daily in the process, or not get their weekly done. I think that five weeks is a good approximation at the length of time it would take to get the full set of champion gear. Give or take some time dependent on how hardcore a player is.

Valor gains in Ilum do not amount to much. They eliminated the grind, but they did not automatically equip these players with the equipment that came from having to grind out the bags to get the gear. People who grinded up via the proper way are the ones who will be geared as they did their dailies/weeklies and warzones for commendations to purchase the items they needed. The gear difference beteeen Battlemaster and Champion is also not very great. It still gives a slight edge, but it is not overly significant.

Why is this a problem? Centurion gear was meant to be the entry level pvp gear you got not champion, and with the massive amount of cent commendations you'll be getting you will actually be able to buy it in a reasonable amount of time. Quickly getting the centurion gear while farming champion gear at the same time makes for much better process then praying to the RNG gods only to have them **** on you with yet another implant you don't need.

I don't foresee it at as a problem. My post was merely meant to inform people on the length of time it would take to get their Tier II gear. I very much approve of this new system. I know of too many of my guildmates who put in a ton of hours into PvP who came away unrewarded from their bags because of the previous RNG system. My own personal opinoin is that five weeks to gear up to full champion via commendations is totally acceptable as it eliminates the randomness of the gearing process (and allows players to better select which pieces they want). They did state, however, that players will get tokens if they are extremely lucky, but again, this will be VERY rare.

For me it was relics that the RNG gods saw fit to reward me with. I think I still have about six of them in my inventory I haven't traded in yet.

What people don't understand is that the time it would take to gear has not changed. BW was very clear on this. They removed the RNG and duplicate factor from the equation because it's very frustrating and makes it seem worse than it is.

If you run the numbers from fresh 50 to fully geared, it would literally take the same amount of time to gear given all the probabilities and computation needed to generate each piece within the scope of the provided metrics.

What this does is gives the impression of progression via other MMO's for slow but steady progress instead of RNG or blind luck.

The numbers bear out the same. If started at the same time with the same fresh 50, it would STATISTICALLY be the same amount of time to get fully champ geared.

Too bad RNG is broken because I personally know Valor rank 60-70's that have only 3-4 champ pieces.

That's not how RNG works my friend, you get huge variations in who gets good gear and there have been tons of posts on people not getting a single piece from 20+ bags in a row (this has happened to me personally at least twice). Not to mention you won't be getting duplicate items with the new system which was also a big problem.

So champion bags (the ones that you receive at <60 valor) are going to have champion commendations? From my understanding, they were only going to remove the chance of receiving a champion trade-in token and were going to increase the amount of centurion commendations given per badge... and that the amount of champion commendations in battlemaster bags was also going to be increased. I don't remember reading anything about the champion bags containing champion commendations.
