If We Aren't *Allowed* To Use The High Res Textures...

Who said they were? We're just saying they *can*. Not that they *are*.

For things to happen generally requires people to actually make official complaints. I'm not going to, because I haven't actually seen any misleading advertising targeted at the UK - in fact I've only seen static poster style advertising in the UK.

And I'm saying they *won't*. And if they *do* it'll likely go down in flames.

Edit: I'm not really defending this company. Truth be told it could go under tomorrow....whatever. I only have ~$75 invested with this venture, so it's no biggie.

So if one of you think you can really sue, or get some kind of litigation rolling go right ahead. Not being sarcastic here, I would REALLY love to see the company lose. But they won't, they won't even likely have anything to fight. Edited by Shortwave

Not sure what you mean, are you asking for avatar the game to use the CGI graphics the film used?

Personally, I wouldn’t pursue this path as I’m happy with the game and have no idea as to whether this is even possible.

However, I’m very curious as to what qualifications you have to comment on the probability of any attempt at civil action ‘going down in flames’ or there being ‘nothing to fight?’ I actually am a Law student that has studied some aspects of Contract (I intend to study it far further too as it’s an intriguing area) and I wouldn’t dare make any comments on probability because I would have to research the matter further, ascertain the applicable jurisdictions, investigate appropriate statutes or precedents, etc. Naturally, I would defer to professionals on the matter too.

Consequently, unless you’re a specialised professional or happen to have a particularly large knowledge of Contract Law: Stop making claims as to the likelihood based on nothing more than your 'gut instinct' or whatever other non-factual metric you're using.

Not an accusation really, just something I think is very iffy. It reminds me of C&C Tiberian Sun, where the pics at the back of the box contained stuff not in the game at all.

It's like selling someone a sealed MTO computer that you say has an i7 inside, but when it arrives it's got a duo. And you can see the i7 in the case, but it won't let you connect. And on the box it clearly says 'i7'.

They should stop using those yummy textures in ads or allow us to choose whether we should use them or not.

How many people remember Blizzard claiming we'd have air-to-air combat vehicles on the Lich King expansion box?

I do. At least in this game the textures exist...even if they're not accessible at this point. Of course, you can pretty much be sure that if BioWare doesn't make it an option, someone will figure out how to fool the game into doing so with a mod anyway.

Ergo, Bioware should look into it as soon as the build is more stable and we don't have large numbers of people with framerate issues.

Where'd you get your law degree from, again?

You must be a lawyer. One doesn't necessarily need a law degree to know whether or not something is legal/illegal. Sheesh, no wonder people despise lawyers. They think they're the only ones in the room that can use reason and logic.

There were air to air combat vehicle *quests* at Wratch launch.

Why do you think there are so many bugs? They probably would like to release the high res textures but cant cause of the engine.

I think you are a troll, since we already HAD the high res textures IN the game in the beta.

The reason they aren't releasing them is people insist on playing this game on dual-core, 5 year old garbage and whining about performance instead of just buying a new computer.

"My computer runs Crysis at 500 FPS and can't run this" , they scream, and then you read their DXDiag and they're pushing a half-meg video card , some AMD processor from 2006, and 3 GB of ram and complaining they should be able to run it.

It's not false advertising unless these "screenshots" are accompanied by the words "actual in-game graphics". If they're dumb enough to put that in there, then they have no legal leg to stand on.

Feast your eyes on the textures of end-game Inquisitor gear

You mean "feast your eyes on the textures of end-game Inquisitor gear as seen in the gear preview screen."

Anything viewed in that screen is scaled down to as low a texture as possible. I, for one, would love to see high res textures, but spreading misinformation is stupid. If you want to see what it'll look like in game, you actually have to put it on. There is a clear difference between what it looks like in that screen and what it looks like when actually worn by your character.

I don't get what the OP means. I have the graphics/shadow etc on high and the game looks nice and runs smoothly. Isn't that enough or is he referring to that a lot of people have to run on low settings to have a smooth gameplay?

The game use to have higher resolution textures in beta (the armor was less muddy). The game does look great, but it could be better. They took something away.

The best example is to zoom in close and look at your guy standing there in his armor while standing to a flashpoint npc or anything else that will start a cutscene.

In the cutscene your guy's armor will have much higher res on the textures and look alot better even though he is in the same armor.

That is the high res textures you use to be able to see at all times.

*snicker*

That looks awful. Especially the Rakata/Columi/Tionese stuff.

How can you not like it? I get to be a cowssasin and Rakata Sorcs get to be Patrick. PATRICK! That guy is awesome, by far my favorite Spongebob character.

If anything 4 piece should replace the maul animation by a headbutt, with those horns it could really do some damage.

I noticed you used a lot of big words, good for you. It was a little long, so I didn't read the whole thing...but it doesn't matter because I gave you an A!

Now as far as the facts are concerned, BW hasn't done anything to compromise themselves with regard to false advertising. There is no debate here. I get people are upset they can't use the High Rez textures anymore, but beyond blowing steam on the forums, you have no real legal recourse. Btw, you should know this Sufran, if you are a law student. If you don't, well, you must be REAL early on. More likely, you're lying through your teeth, and maybe you should consider a career in politics.

The high rez textures are still in game (during cinematics) so they could even show screen shots or video of cinematics and say this is IN-GAME graphics, and STILL be safe, since they technically are IN the game, albeit not all the time.

Its pretty obvious they had to take them out to allow lower end PC to run the game, and also because they need more time to fix the framerate issues that even some higher end PCs are having..... Once things are more stable, you should see them start to address the concerns, and turn them back on. (like they did with AA) Also, I'm pretty sure nvidia drivers hate this game, but that's a whole other issue.

Also, you should gain the conversation option "moo" in every convo while you have said hat equipped.

They're working on modifying the game so that you'll be able to use high res textures. They're trying to figure out how to do that while still handling having lots of players on the screen without destroying your framerate.

You will have your high res textures in time.

So please, give it a rest.

To touch on the point of the original post, though, I can't help but believe that this undertaking would be a higher priority if marketing were prohibited from using the higher resolution textures for gameplay screenshots until they were actually available to players also.

That doesn't make sense though. It's not like having hi-rez textures would force people to use them. If the game destroys framerate, then the player can drop down to medium like they have now.
