RP vs PVP community

Hi

I am just wondering if there are diffrences between PvP and RP-PVE server communitys, if its easier to find a group to do flashpoint, heroics on RP server than on PVP server and are more "mature" players on PVP or RP... or is there no difference....:)

Generally speaking, people are way more mature on role-playing servers than on pure PvP ones. If you have trouble finding a server that suits you, I'd suggest trying out a few servers before settling anywhere.

Remember, there's always that one exception that proves the rule. :jawa_wink:

For what it's worth, this is the opposite of my experience -- in WoW, anyway, where I spent about two years each spread between RP, RP-PvP, and finally plain PvP servers. The RP servers I played on tended to be very cliquish and had very exclusionary communities, as well as a huge smattering of elitists. The PvP servers were much more easy-going (which some people might take as being immature, sure.) It was definitely more casual.

Which you also have on PVP servers, a lot of them. There are always elitist folk on any server.

I've only had bad experiences with RP servers where flaming and dancing on your dead body making insults and comments as learn to play or get out were more common then pink bows at a hello kitty store.

The best advice is already given, roll some chars on different servers and find out where you meet a nice guild with good people. The best way to find out which community you like is by rolling into it.

RP-PVE servers on this game are not like on WOW, you will always find someone who is willing help and the chat is often busy with people socialising. Personally, I'm going to stick around on RP servers on SWTOR.

I'm on an RP-PVP server and most people I run into have been friendly and helpful, or at least non-interfering.

When I encounter higher level enemies in the field, they are more likely to RP/emote than gank me.

Jung Ma (RP-PVP) has a pretty good community on the Republic side. Unfortunately, there are a lot of gankers on the Imperial side. I was hoping that the RP-PVP server would have more sporting opponents, but I guess some people need to make up for the fact they've been shoved in the locker one too many times.

It's kind of subjective, though. To be fair, RP servers and communities, though often tight-knit and genial, can really erupt into major drama over role-playing orthodoxy, scene-stealing and all the other subjective and fairly trivial issues.

Just sayin'.
