Ninja 'ing is part of the game, it isn't ever going to go away. But then you have days like today, when a republic player helped me get a holocron... then you realise that not everyong in this game is a total douche.... pay it forward!!!.. lol

^This.

I help ppl out from time to time and when they ask if I want anything for it, I say "Yes, help someone who asks you for help."

If I see a quest objective I need and another player very near it, I just stand near the objective and wait to see if they need it. If they move away, I'll click it, and if not, I'll wait the 30 seconds or so til it respawns, no biggie.

No, he is objectively right.

Griefing or harrassing other players is never justified by RPing.

RP rule #1.

Sounds like someone doesn't know what objective means.

With cultural and behavioral norms, very little is objective. On a game where one can play a sociopath that can choke people with his mind - the issue becomes even more muddy.

Play the game how you like and others will do the same. This will, inevitably, lead to times when one or both parties are dissatisfied. This is the price of diversity. Some bad stuff comes with all the other good.

Stop feeding the A-holes, they won't change until one day they disrespect the wrong person and pay the price. Sometimes that never happens, but to most it does. Sometimes I even get to see that moment when they realize they just made a huge mistake, which can be wonderful or painful to watch depending how high a price they pay for it.

I try not to take objectives someone else is fighting for, I will even help them. Most people thank me and help me out in return, others aggro everything and get me killed for my kindness. It happens, it is a game, shrug it off. Just make sure to always ignore them before they run off so you don't wind up in a group with them later.

An IRL ignore function would be the most amazing invention ever.

what price are they going to pay? Your not going to group with them... the world has ended......

Perfect. I hope Bioware is paying attention to this thread. The only downside that I can see is low levels sneaking in to tag upper level loot without having to fight.

Well if they did it like in LotRO, you wouldn't have that problem (unless the low levels were in the general lvl range of it). If you're really under the lvl of the zone, mobs come from all over to zerg you. They did that to stop people from having crafters that weren't at the combat lvl range. Prior to this we had lvl 1s being escorted by high lvl groups into lvl 40+ zones so they could complete their upper tier crafting quests. Can't really protect a low lvl from half the zone. :p

I know how you feel, it happens to me all the time. It happens more in this game then it ever has in any other game. The other day someone did this to me so I followed him and watched him run into an elite. I just sat and watched him get his *** kicked.

This is true. I have never seen so many people just run in and take an objective as I have in this game, and I have played various mmo's for five years.

It really surprised me the first time I saw it. I think the worst one I have experienced was when I had to kill droids and scan them and someone else came and scanned my kills. I didn't say anything, because what the names I wante to call that player would have gotten me permabanned from the game.

Anyone who thinks this...I hate you to the very core.

I find it frusterating when I'm told by a guy who ninja's my hardmode Counsular Gear when he's a Trooper "It's part of the Game", well I hope some big strong man runs up to you and beats the crap out of you on the street then says: "It's part of Life, Deal with it."

Sadly the anonymity of the internet makes cowards pretend to be tough guy villains.

The most you can do is pity them and wonder what made them so angst filled that they get enjoyment out of trying to share their misery with others.

Good point. I'm not sure if that feature was in when I played LoTRO. That sounds like a fine way to handle it. The mobs come to feed on lowbies... :D Maybe they'll introduce the sound of a dinner bell ringing when someone over five levels below the zone enters it.

This reaction is what use to make my day in open loot games, man oh man.....love it.

In fact if it were not for reactions like this the said ganker/griefer would prolly get bored and not do it.

In fact by such a topic being put up makes said griefers want to do it for sheer LOLs.

Prime example just a few days ago as an sith I got myself into the aldereen rep spaceport. I was ganking fools coming in and out, porting in ect.... Because the game is lame in terms of open world pvp and dying to pvp means nothing, but went about there business and didn't seem to care. Boring, i quit rather fast.

If I would of got a response like what is posted above that would of fueled me for hours to keep the ganking up.....

Alright, then I suppose you won't care a bit if you come across a quest objective where you have to clear a mob before taking the objective and someone takes advantage of the "distraction" you provide while fighting two inches from the objective and takes the objective for themselves. Then you can remember that the objective did not in fact have your name on it as you wait for it to respawn and then fight the mob that respawned with it again.

My posts in this thread should make it clear my stance on this issue and it has happened to me before

And no, it doesn't bother me, it's barely an inconvenience. I just carry on what I was doing. Why? because I'm not a child who gets upset when others take quest items that I have no right to claim as my own.

I know places where it is considered rude to let the bottom of your foot face someone. Yet I doubt many of us are careful never to cross our legs or prop up our feet.

I would consider it rude for a stranger to attack me in the game just because I'm unintentionally flagged for PvP after healing someone. Trying to murder my character is certainly rude in my book. But the other player just sees someone they think is okay to attack.

After all, his character's faction is at war with mine. But that's...Role Playing. Surely it's no excuse for a random attempt on my character's life!

One person's rude is another person's normal behavior. Pretending that your standard is better than someone else's is a slippery slope.

Well, one nice thing for everyone is the sharding. It tends to reduce the

competition for this kind of quest item. Another is that such items have

a very fast respawn. So best not to get too upset.

However... If you're a class that can stealth, anytime you see someone

running up to ninja the quest objective you're killing an NPC for... Just

instant stealth to throw aggro on the person that thinks they're going to ninja.

Then while they fight, just take your quest item and go.

It's funny, I've actually had people rage at me in general over that. They

come in expecting to ninja a quest item while I'm fighting, I stealth, to give

them the fight. Then they get mad when I take the quest item?

Maybe as some have stated, they're role playing dark side, and don't like

being played for a dark side fool.

Those "objectives" aint yours and have no ur name on it, so i can grab anything what i please.

Just remember what goes around comes around and karma, is a b**** next time you do something nasty to someone in the game.

It's times like these that make me miss a good old fashioned EQ train.

EQ had some excellent tools to police d-bags. Mostly it boiled down to needing a group to level, so if you made a reputation for yourself as a jerk, you couldn't level anymore.

Ah the good ole days...

I actually love that this is allowed. They should take it further and automatically PVP flag people that do this...that way, we'd get real open world PVP. At least on PVP servers :)

If I steal your objective, you should be able to kill me (or at least try).
