I just assumed that if you preordered, you got in early; period. In actuality, I preordered it in like August, but I didn't put my preorder code in until a few days ago. In a nutshell, 'I used to X/Y*, but then I took an arrow to the knee.' X = Past infinitive verb e.g. I used to give a crap Y = Verb to be + article + noun e.g. I used to be a guy who gave a crap There are lots of variations, but in all instances, the net result is an arrow always enters a knee.
