MaverikB
I saw some screens a couple months back and they looked just like the SWG UI. Is this pretty much the same engine. Reading about the game and features I'm having trouble understanding the differences?

Coronbale
I wish they would have kept the SWG crafting and resource system. That was EPIC
MalakDawnfire
Yes, they're using an outdated engine for release.
DarthAmok
Modified HeroEngine.
The-Xandroz
Sometimes I wish but only for the Sandbox type of gameplay. SWG did not have true jumping in it and such so No TOR's engine is better.
Guamish
For the techical answer, they are using the hero engine I believe. Saw a Demo of it one year at GDC and after working on unrealED it looked like a level designers wet dream.. well mine anyway.
Lasarith
No -Something called heroEngine That they can tear apart if need be they have the Sorce code, so they can make change's on the fly.
Comradebot
Well, you can jump in SWTOR. Does that answer your question?

Reading about the game and features I'm having trouble understanding the differences? SWTOR isn't really much like SWG (original) and not that much like SWG (NGE/later) - although in screenshots it can be difficult to tell much difference (probably because SWG punched above its weight rather than SWTOR punching below). Some bits are better some are worse (some bits are much better and some much worse - i.e. space combat).
Miclec
I wish they would have kept the SWG crafting and resource system. That was EPIC Yes! I miss hopping on my speeder, hunting for high resource areas and then planting my resource collection empire on top of it The good old days
