  1. Because things can never be improved on right? With millions of users plus multiple characters for each user you start to run short on available names. It's pretty simple really: A customer who purchased the game and has been subscribed and had spent hundreds of dollars should have preference over someone who never purchased the game. Implementing that is top customer service. Not doing that is poor customer service.
  2. I didn't twist your words. You posted something that was your opinion as utter fact. So I did the same with my opinion. These transfers aren't really of free will. They are basically marking certain servers as dead and if you are on there then you need to transfer or play alone until they force you to transfer because the server is shutting down. These are server merges with a different name.
  3. Except you might not have been there first. You might have created it a week ago yet you were lucky to be on one of the chosen servers. Someone else might have been placed with their guild onto a server at launch and created their name launch day. I really hope you aren't on one of the destination servers.
  4. In the end, no matter how you twist and turn this, look from whatever point of view: There is no reason good enough why during a server merge (that's what this is. Either transfer or play alone) a lifetime subscriber should lose their name to someone who never even bought the game or played that character more than one hour.
  5. Other games have fair solutions to this: If the name is taken by someone who hasn't purchased the game it gets bumped If the name is taken by someone who is under level 10 and hasn't logged in for so many months it gets bumped. I'm not going to be mad about having to change my name if I'm a level 50 and someone actively playing has a level 25 with my name even though they just bought the game a week ago. I will be mad if I have to change my name because someone made it when playing the trial for a couple hours and never purchased the game. I will be mad if someone who quit after the first month has one of their 30 level one characters with my name on the chosen destination server. If they aren't going to do it as mentioned above then no current server should be a destination server. All current servers should be shut down and new servers are destination servers where everyone gets a shot.
  6. ^^ Exactly this. I don't mind losing a name to someone that is currently using it or even recently unsubscribed, but is over a certain level. I just don't want to lose my name (which isn't even a name in common usage, so not in crazy demand) to a level 1 created by someone on the trial or who was on early access but never even entered a registration code in.
  7. That dude just got burned worse than Anakin on Mustafar.
  8. "People can come up with statistics to prove anything. Forfty percent of all people know that." I don't even know where to begin with where you went wrong, you just pull unrelated numbers out of thin air and try to prove your point with them. At the end of first quarter 2012 there were 1.3 million subcribers. That's the only number we know for certain. I bet you all my Star Wars guys (except Boba Fett) that you are off by no less than a factor of 10 (and that's truly an estimate on the conservative side).
  9. So does this mean that if I am not on one of the chosen few servers then I will have to give up my character names because someone played 5 min of the trial version and never even bought the game? Fail. EverQuest at least gave you a chance at it. You would get your name over the existing character if the existing character was a trial account, was under a certain level, or hadn't logged in a certain period. This at least let someone that had spent 30+ days of play time building up a character keep there name vs some level 1 placeholder or trial account that's never coming back.
  10. Once you get over the initial distaste to start to see that the Vong thing isn't bad. The whole Empire vs Republic thing was starting to get overdone and they needed to mix it up, but make the enemy something that could rival the new republic and Jedi. It did better than the LotF series which had so much potential yet failed at key dramatic points and lost sight of what the storyline should have been - The cyclical course of history.
  11. Battlefront 3 was cancelled. LucasArts was making too many crazy demands with the game so it was scrapped when it was in the final testing phase. They just trademarked everything related to "Star Wars 1313" so its something to do with that. I'm hoping its something like "The Force Unleashed", but with Boba Fett or some other Bounty Hunter.
  12. I've loved all three novels so far. Can't wait for this one!
  13. My server is down about 40-50% in population too. The population has hit tipping point where it is now too low and therefore the rate of people abandoning it will increase exponentially until its dead.
  14. TERA didn't "launch" yesterday. It had its North America launch. It's been running in Korea for well over a year.
  15. Funny, because I bet most of the people QQing on here probably said a couple years ago, "If SWTOR is anything like KOTOR, then I have nothing to worry about"
  16. So you determined that the game will not have any of these things and be the best MMO ever just based off the title? That seems like a good approach...
  17. Totally agree, this new text is terrible. Looks like Bantha Poodoo
  18. And people don't want to take the chances on picking a server that will die and be forced to reroll again. I have a character that I made at early access on The Fatman and I don't play it. My server, Rubat Crystal, is actually growing quite well if anyone wants to roll on that one. Great community, perfectly balanced factions, and lots of PvP for a RP server.
  19. So why don't you go play on Crevasse City then? http://www.thesmugglersalliance.com/pictures/CrevasseCity.JPG Would you rather have that?
  20. Go roll on Crevasse City, they could use some people tonight http://www.thesmugglersalliance.com/pictures/CrevasseCity.JPG Be glad you have queues.
  21. So who's going to decide that? When people complained about low pop's all we heard was "Oh well, suck it up and reroll to a more populated server". So what server are you going to reroll to now that The Fatman is too full?
  22. Haha, exactly this. Just go through any of the "Population dropping!" threads and everyone says to reroll to one of the 4 main servers of which Fatman is one of them. Everyone went there because they didn't know any other servers that would grow. If everyone picked another standard server then it would basically just be musical chairs, everyone changes locations, but the size stays the same.
  23. And how is 1 not a bug?! I spent like an hour and a half going through missions on Corsucant last night on an Alt. Finished up all the missions on the planet, got my ship, and logged out on my ship. Log in this morning and it was like I never did any of them. Have to go through everything again.
  24. How is 2 not a bug? Weeklys don't reset during normal patches, they roll over.
