  1. 1) It really doent matter what crew skill you choose. Synthweaving will provide you with armor and mod for you character. but the same can be said for any of the crafting proffesions because you can equip your companions for free. 2) as far as leveling goes none really assist with it. It cost money to send the companion on missions but can wield high return rates. Its usually only with level grinding and finding boxes and such that it would benefit really and other people can grab those as well. 3) as far as end game it depends on what your wanting. stims and medpacks can be useful to all party members. And most crafting have mods in them that can be of assistance. 4) as for profit it really depends on the market and how you sell them. 5) Again it depends on the market. there may be times when the cost to buy the items outweighs the effort, And the reverse is that you gathered so much but is not selling and just taking up inventory slots in the bank 6) No. 3 is the max number of skills you can have.
  2. I play a jedi Knight and my fiance plays a smuggler. So i have been to almost every single one of her class quests. When this one came up, i was like. Uh huh. alright i see how it is. after the scene we start going to do more quests and she attacks a mob. I just stand there looking at her and she starts saying " you know you could help anytime now." I just told her i was waiting for the stars to align. And thats when the fight broke out LOL
  3. I have been playing the game since the weekend beta and I still do not have a level 50 character. I have multiple alts ranging from 40 -20 of different classes so i can see what their story is about. Why should i care about endgame? Its there but it will not go anywhere and i can take my time to enjoy the game. So i guess that makes me one of those that perfers the story and hanging out with friends. Oh dang...does that mean i have a life?
  4. This is a suggestion that i believe can be easily remedied, takes 0 hours to code, and would make a great impact (good and bad depending) on the community at large. I look at the dev tracker a great deal to see what is going in the game. However when i look into it i am noticing something very unpleasant. No not the information provided by the devs, but the lack of it. I understand that moderators and developers have a job to do to make this game succeed. however a little more communication with subscribers can go a long way. Even if its just to jump into a thread and shoot the banta doo doo. I know that a great deal of time a "mod" post can derail the thread and people will throw question after question and complaint after complaint. However it helps the community know that yes Bioware is reading the forums and is paying attention to them. the "Mods" do not have to have all the answers, just knowing that a voice is there most of the time is all that is needed. Most Mod posts that i have seen are for blog posts (which are nice dont get me wrong), this thread has been moved posts, and patch note posts. The game is fun but not knowing if the force is out there will make even the most die hard jedi and sith get lonely and retire the saber.
  5. The game is really not designed for a cross server LFG tool and i believe that it shouldnt be implemented. The game is still in its infancy and already people are complaning that this game is a WoW clone and that bioware needs to stop doing things WoW does. yet at the same time those same people are wanting a cross server LFG tool that WoW has. For those that remember playing WoW before the cross server LFG tool, try to remember back when you could find a group on the same server that you were on. Conversations started and friends were made. Once the cross server LFG tool came about, the conversations stopped. I can count on one hand how many times other players ever talked to each other. Their mindset was...."well im not going to be grouped with them again so why bother talking". Oh lets not forget the favorite of everyone. "oh no hes a fresh (place capped level here), im not sticking around for some n00b to wipe us over and over again" Now if you want to get into specifics. then hows this. With the current trees that there are. how would you group it up? A sage and a commando is not always a healer. yet you know as well as i do that people will queue up as the healer just so that they can get into a group faster. For those that played WoW...how long was your wait time when you queue'd up as DPS? I personally saw it at an hour some days. yet i jump on my healer or tank...BAM right into it. I was also in groups where people would queue up as healer and not have one item or talent as healer. Sure they had a heal..but didnt know what it was for or how to use it. Now lets get to another reason. The ever elusive ninja/a-hole that love to ruin your playtime to get their jollies off. Rolling Need on every single item so that they could sell or gear up alts or companions or alts companions..ECT ECT ECT. how about that wonderful tank that just pulls and pulls and pulls and yells hurry hurry hurry. then gripes and complains that people are dying and hes not getting healed, the healer gets yelled at and blamed, and he pulls a large mob or boss then quits the groups and ports out. Now yes the above 2 you could find on your server now probably...but the thing is. Its on your server. you can warn others...add that person to ignore and never have to worry about them. Cross server LFG....chance are you wont see them again, but at the same time they are going to do the same thing to someone else. I could condone a same server LFG option, but not cross server.
  6. you mention 4 sets of gear. yet you champion trying to get away from the EQ/WoW type of play. Wow has 3 sets of gear for each tier for each class in the game. I read your main post. and the main problem i see it that you you want people that give 50% for each Pve and 50% to Pvp the same benefits as those that give 100% to pvp and to pve. Im sorry i can not agree with that, if i only did half my work at my job and my co-worker did all of his work. i have no reason to gripe - when he recieves a higher raise than i do. yet i give 100% at the gym and he only gives 50% of his effort, its no wonder that my body is more physically fit than his. Your first line in the post was:
  7. OMG. i cant believe this one is not in here. Ord mantel: I dont know a Paul...Im BONECRUSHER!!! (the 98 pound string bean)
  8. I hear this argument in every single MMO i have played. the answer to this is simple. Roll a character on a PvP server. There you have it world PvP. Even if the devs did try to implement this. "You can lead a horse to water...but you cant make him drink" is the quote i believe sums it up. I am grateful that the game does not have this. Players affecting the environment presents more problems than you can image. lets go with the obvious and Im going to use WoW as an example. in order to utilize this feature they only way to make it fair for everyone would be to introduce phasing into the game. Now try to remember how many players are on that planet when you play. lately i have been noticing 20 something players. now if you introduce phasing you will have reduced the amount of players that can group up for quests because they would be in different parts of the phase. WoW did this when it introduced it into thier game. And they cant take it back even if they wanted to. Thier forums are still ripe with people complaining about the phase system. not able to find groups for 5 man quests, seeing mineral/herb nodes only to discover that it was phased, or someone that is phased took it. The idea sounds great on paper, however most things sound great on paper but dont work to well in practice. Now my suggestion would be to expand the planets. meaning get rid of the invisible walls and let us actually go AROUND the planet. that would open up more area's for discovery, provide room for player housing on the planets in a safer environment away from quest and mission hubs. now that is just my suggestions for the worlds/planets. There is nothing wrong really with the talent tree's that we have now. My fiance is not as adept in MMO's as i am. yet she is able to understand the talent tree's. Now a better tutorial than what is provided might be a good option for new players to the MMO world would be helpful to understand it. The stat system is simplified. now had you stated maybe adding more information about what the stats mean in the hehlpdesk system. then i would agree with you. The terms Alcricity and surge were new to mean and I was at a loss of where you to look it up in game before shouting in general chat for the advice. That is more based on personal point of view and how you play the game though. As far as character development, Swtor beats WoW and pretty much alot of MMO's on the market now hands down. personal class quests add alot of flavor, im not going to mention the legacy system as it is currently unfinished and we know that the dev's are working on this aspect of the game. Now if you had mentioned Character creation. Then i would have to agree with you. I myself was hoping for more creative control with my character. Why is are certain races only allowed for certain classes? Why limit the races? We know that there are others of those races being played by the classes in the game...allow us the same opportunity. There are no races benefits in the game and I dont want there to be. What little there is, is for social aspects and Role Playing purposes. I know there have been multiple threads regarding the emote systems so im not going to get into that. As well as the flirt options/ and romance aspect of the game. These points have been brought up multiple times so im not going to go there. if you wish to find out more about those topics. use the search feature So to the OP. the issues brought up I do not believe are valid issues IMO. Im not saying that yours are wrong, but that I believe they are. Now if you wish to provide logical and valid points that would better help the player base that reads the forums to understand your points. Please continue.
  9. Gaurdian has a high survivablity due to the heavy armor, but your not going to kill very fast. Gaurdian has a low dps base. The main goal of a gaurdian is to be a meat shield. It is easier to progress when grouped with a healer. The JK does not get its healer companion till after Act one. (yes i know the ship companion can be used but its not as good and hard to maintain the upgrades for it, since most driod drops from quest rewards are for the R2 unit) Since your using your JK for solo play mostly. I would recommend Sentinel. The droid makes for a good tank with its heavy armor and quest rewards for easy upgrades. Your DPS will be alot higher and you will be able to go through mobs alot faster.
  10. I really hate feeding troll's like the OP but this comment here made my day. Crafting was some of the best time i had in the game. Making better ship parts and I still remember making the droid load lifter with a perfect color scheme. I named it the prototype AT-ST because it looked just like it. I also had 2 accounts when i played SWG, my main account was a Ranger/CH. the only time i EVER went to a populated area was to sell mats on the AH. I would see people out farming and some actually lost since the planets were PLANETS, no invisible walls keeping you back. but back on topic. Crafting in SWG actually took some resemblance of skill. To make items that were worthy of selling you had to find the best resources, know how to tweak the crafting the UI to get the best results, and follow the AH prices to know when the best time to sell the items you crafted was.
  11. Sell the epics and blue biochem mats on the GTM. you will make more money that way than farming augments from slicing.
  12. the crafting skills. It sells mats that are used in crafting that are not found in mission skills or gathering.
  13. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The pvp looks cool but not that big into pvp'ing really. Im one of those that is not good at it and knows it and does not try to fake it.
  14. Sorry if this is not the correct place for this but here it goes. Im tired of my Gaurdian tank wearing a heavy armor bathrobe. It just doesn't make sense. I was thinking about putting Orange gear Trooper armor on him and just mod it up. heavy armor should look like heavy armor not cloth. But im picky on looks. It he is going to wear the trooper look then it should match color and all. Any armor tech's out there have any good suggestions on chest piece, legs, gloves, and helm that would look decent together
  15. I'll be the first to admit that I detested the prequels. And that G.Lucas ego is larger than Lucas Arts. And while I do not agree with alot of his decisions, I do agree with the quote below from that article. Then i look around the forums at all the Rage posts and I can see his point.
  16. The only thing the prequels offered anybody was that it showed Emperor Palpatine being lawfully elected. And that the Republic was nothing more than terrorists going after the lawfully elected government. Everything else was bull dung. Just goes to show you how much his wife had on the OT.
  17. QFT! I cant believe people are still complaning about this. it was severly overpowered vs the other gathering/mission/crafting skills. Even treasure hunting which gives lockboxes as well did not yield as much. I have 2 toons that have slicing and oh wait its fine. send companion out on a mission...oh look there is a lockbox on teh ground just sitting there...oh look i got credits from that lockbox and didnt have to pay mission costs for it.
  18. Actually i am impressed that a patch is already coming out. With most MMO's you have to wait a couple of weeks. sometimes even a month before you know anything. For the game being a week old its doing quite well. For those that are complaining about the baby names in the credits. let me advise you of something. If you were to assist in any part of a game or movie then your name must be listed and what part you played or assisted with. you complain about the baby names yet how do you think that the parents of those children felt when the game went live and their child was not mentioned in the credits. Its like TV shows and movies...if you have a speaking part (even just saying the word "hi") in a show or movie you must be paid for it and receive royalties every time the show or movie is sold. because your work is part of that movie as well and should receive just credit for it no matter what age. yes there are other bugs and glitches that were not part of this patch. and i just look at it as they are making sure that the fixes for those issue work correctly. its a steady process and at times it can be slow. but the wheels do turn, just because the wheels are not turning at the pace you want it to is not a bad thing. Complaining and threatening to unsubscribe is your right to do so...however I have found that more attention is brought to those with a level head will get a better response as well as not induce an ulcer because of stress from rage at not seeing your peticular problem addressed. Face it most of us have come from WoW or some other MMO that has years ahead of this one. Every MMO has started with problems...no successful launch has been flawless, saying otherwise shows ignorance. But this is not those other MMO's and for that i am Truely grateful. if it was I would play those and not this one. I am enjoying every second so far. have i come across irritation...oh yeah...but the game has more pro's to outway it and i dont have to think about the problem as much. is the AH borked? it is different...like others i have been spoiled on WoW's AH system. but i also remember when WoW's AH sucked big time. When the only AH was in IF and in Ogrimar (sp). WoW improved on it but they did not improve on it in one week's time. It was along time before it was fixed. Will that happen in Swtor? I dont know..I hope not but im going to let the powers that be fix what they can when they can and be happy that they are fixing it.
