  1. A quick TK sage parse I uploaded Total unstimmed/no adrenal or relic DPS: 1307.61 Damage breakdown by damage type: 64.35% kinetic 35.39% internal 0.27% energy Compared to a quick sab/df gunslinger parse. Total unstimmed/no adrenal or relic DPS: 1655.26 Damage breakdown by damage type: 47.85% internal 44.04% energy 8.11% kinetic Plus the gunslinger is offsetting 20% of all that mitigated energy/kinetic damage with bringing their own sunder. Add 20% to the kinetic damage of my sage parse and you gain ~168 dps--changing the DPS of the parse to ~1475. There would be no change to the 1655 dps of the gunslinger parse (due to already having sunder). And considering my gunslinger is in mostly 61s with a few 63s to my sage being in unoptimized rakata with some black hole that's a fairly comparable figure. Addendum: for posterity-- a quick Balance sage parse DPS: 1372.94 62.69% kinetic 37.31% internal +20% to kinetic = +172.02 Adjusted for sunder total: 1544.96 DPS Final edit: I feel I should add that while these numbers seem low compared to everyone posting 1800+ parses all over every class subforum, they are so purposefully as I reduced all factors down to a level playing field. No stims, no adrenals, no on-use relics, no /stucking to finish the parse early. This was a fairly controlled experiment, barring the slight difference in parse times. The purpose being to point out the importance of sunder more so than comparing the two classes directly in maximum DPS potential as I can't rightly do that being the sizable gear difference between my alts.
  2. One thing to keep in mind is that most gunslingers (sab/df or straight df) are primarily internal based dps. Sages are primarily kinetic based-- TK more so than Balance. So dummy parses in particular and any fight in which you don't have a sunder up nearly all the time will put you at a large disadvantage, but if you have sunder up all the time things start to even out a little bit.
  3. I tested it after reading this thread. Step 1: Purchased global perks 1, 2, and 3 first. Step 2: Purchased individual perk on same character. Step 3: Relogged to see if it "stuck". It did. No problems so far. 60 minute cooldown. Step 4: Logged onto a different character. Purchased individual perk. Global perks are unpurchased. 24 hour cooldown. Step 5: Logged back onto first character. Individual perk is unlocked. Legacy perks 1, 2, and 3 are all now unpurchased. 24 hour cooldown. Status: Borked. Do not buy.
  4. Having to do the original Belsavis dailies was probably the worst experience I've ever had in this game. Gear was also a big problem in creating class imbalance myths that still persist to this day in that it was so poorly optimized for some classes. EV was so, so very bugged out at launch. So no not really. The game has improved dramatically in the last year.
  5. I agree but the cats out of the bag now. What would you have them do? Delete all the crystals people have spent millions of credits on?
  6. I agree the rewards are bad outside of the gree event (for obvious hilt/barrel transfer reasons). They should put crew skill schematics in. Even outdated stuff like 61 stuff would be appreciated. Maybe finally add a new lightsaber crystal level? With more options? Accuracy, surge, etc. The current carrot just isn't enticing enough for me to bother with anything but the Gree stuff.
  7. As much as I hate bringing WoW into TOR conversations--- I was reading this thread and I remembered metamorphosis demo warlocks in WoW. Generally speaking they are magic ranged DPS, but they have a cooldown that allows them to melee for a short time as they turn into a demon and are granted melee abilities. Why can't we do this for sages? Obviously not turning into a demon or anything, but give us a cooldown that gives us some powerful melee abilities that allows us to jump into the fold for 30 seconds every 5 minutes or something.
  8. Yeah I'm hilariously disappointed with the rep rewards. Yes the lightsaber hilt transfer ability is useful, but other than that... holy crap the rep rewards are so bad. Like they aren't even cool. And even if they were cool.. they still wouldn't warrant weeks of dailies. Rep grinds only work if there is an actual carrot at the end of the stick, Bioware.
  9. I'm grossly underwhelmed with the rewards. The Gree lightsabers are obviously useful, but Voss, Space, and Section X require WAAAAAAAY too much effort for boring/reskinned custom gear. Like I'm fine with the idea of rep and whatnot, but the rewards are atrociously bad.
  10. "NEW EVENT: RELICS OF THE GREE - FEBRUARY 12 TO FEBRUARY 26" From the link you quoted.
  11. A jerk maybe. That's subjective though. What if I need an enhancement whereas you could use the armoring, mod, and enhancement of a piece of gear? I still *need* it. Most of the time it's at this level that there are disagreements. I personally agree with letting the dice land where they will.
  12. No.. The term "loot ninja" originated in EQ-- where anyone could loot a killed mob after a certain amount of time. "Ninjas" would sneak up and take all the loot even if they weren't part of the group that killed it. In present day a ninja would be someone that sets to master looter and takes all the gear for themselves and disbands the party. Rolling need on an item does not a ninja make.
  13. Reading people's opinions on this makes me feel like a glorified hipster. I love using Akaavi, Vector, and Broonmark. I'd have to say the droids (barring HK) because they're generally harder to gear. I love T7 but I'm not willing to throw all those stabilizers at gearing him out and my Scourge is just a more efficient option. And Rusk. Nobody likes Rusk.
  14. I take issue with this list, but only in the extreme outliers. On the whole, I would agree with it. However-- Well played assassins actually have higher potential DPS than the other melee. Operatives (lethality anyway) are also not as awful as most people make out. My operative is my 3rd deep alt and I can still parse 1800+ most of the time in just 61s. I would go so far as to say lethality operatives are actually pretty damn good. Concealment is terrible in a PvE setting though, true. Ranged is true for the most part, but I would say sorcs and mercs are closer to equal given the encounter-- arsenal mercs are just easier to play so they probably do better within the margins of the average user. Snipers are definitely a head above the competition though.
  15. Not since I hit legacy level 50 back in like July.
  16. I prefer the gunslinger to the sniper (have a 50 of both, plus an operative). They just seem like they are doing more at any given time due to dual wielding. Sniper is like "...BOOM....BOOM.....BOOM.." compared to gunslinger being more like "pewpewpew.. pewpewpew.. BOOM.. pewpewpew" Just seems more exciting. Plus I think a sniper being restricted to 30-35 meters is weird.
  17. Went snooping through your logs to see if you had any vig parses uploaded and saw you did. You consistently pull 1800+ with focus and between 2 vig parses went from 1500 to 1750. Sounds like typical vigilance woes to me. I really wish they would fix that damn spec. I hate focus. Solid parses though man.
  18. The story makes sense if you actually watch the cinematics. A rare thing, I know.
  19. General rule of thumb with video cards-- if you can afford the better one, get the better one. My vote for the 660.
  20. It's going to depend on the fight, but I would say on the whole a vanguard. Shadows can definitely parse up there but its so much harder to pull off and its a bit more fight dependent.
  21. I would like to add that not all set bonuses are really worth troubling yourself over not having. The marauder/sentinel 4 piece is fairly horrendous, for example. Then again some classes like assassins/guards completely rely on their 4pc so there's that too.
  22. What am I forgetting? Mass Effect 2 has the highest metacritic rating of all 3 Mass Effect games (91, 96, and 94 respectively). DA2 has a 79, which isn't glowing by any stretch but it's still "solid".
  23. lolwat? DA2 was by all accounts a very good game. People were just disappointed that it detracted so much from the Warden story. The other complaints were highly subjective and not actual criticisms of the game. Some people liked the stylized combat and some people liked the more strategy aspect of DA:O. The only real legitimate design complaint was the recycling of level designs. ME2? Who the hell complains about ME2? The one people like to complain about is ME3-- not ME2. And again the complaint was basically "this series was so good and we were so emotionally invested in the story that we are pissed off that you didn't end it right". Like for real if people want to have criticisms about SWTOR fine, but let's not just start throwing all of Bioware's other games, which have been massive commercial successes, under the bus in the process.
  24. I've always wished all classes would have more than 1 weapon option. The only one that doesn't make sense is a sniper. But if I wanted to play a single saber marauder I should be able to and it should just be an aesthetics thing.
