  1. ... ...hmmm. Well, if it was, I'd put it in the Guild Recruitment subforum. However, back on topic...hmmmm...
  2. It might be about the only way to get a handle on targeting without the immediate threat of crashing. Possible addition to the tutorial? 'First, we learn how to aim and shoot. Next, we learn how not to crash. Now we put it all together. Aim, shoot, don't crash. Congratulations! You might actually hit something other than an asteroid in your first match now.'
  3. So, I was wandering about the GSF forum, when I came across yonder thread, a question of which servers are the most active for GSF, and have great levels of competition. I mean, psch, of course our names are gonna come up, right? Psssch! 'Course we're gonna! So! I clicks on said thread, not really to offer my own input on the matter, but to see specifically what other folks, sometimes even from other servers, would have to say about The Ebon Hawk. And what I saw in there...well, see for yourself. And it's that last bit in particular that makes me proud, TEH. I've been flying since December, since launch, and I've seen a lot of pilots come and go. I've seen the community on TEH since its beginning, and maybe, I even had a minor hand in its formation, in my own little way. I'm proud to say that I'm a part of a community that prides itself on fair play, sportsmanship, and making itself accessible to new players. And I can't help but draw little mental parallels...perhaps, in our own way, we're like the aces of World War One, men who were undoubtedly skilled and deadly, but were also gentleman. Others servers may exemplify the more all-out air battles of World War Two, with more on the line. But for me...this really put a smile on my face, because of how many players on our server make it a priority to make it true.
  4. Aprio! He is a slippery one, isn't he?
  5. I like to think of Sonya as one of my Gunship Padawans. Her and Meet'rika, who I haven't seen much of! And that makes me sad. Maybe Olio, but O was deeefinitely an advanced student. I snorted when he picked up a Comet Breaker, but after a while, I was just like, "No more training do you require. Already know you that which you need." I do have a few new Gunship Padawans that I'm really pleased to see are taking off.
  6. I'm not sure which side I'd sign up for, truthfully...my propensity for Gunnys is butting heads with my proclivity to root for the underdogs. EDIT: Furthermore, though, Nem, your observations are actually frighteningly in line with my own. But for rare, rare exceptions, Strike Synergy has carried the day for Domination matches. The only instance from yesterday currently logged in my memory where a Republic Strike Flight actually lost was a teeth-squealing 1000-998 8v8 clincher that I can only attribute to some concerted, determined flying by two or three enemy Bombers.
  7. #94 - Inappropriately-placed superstructure pylons. #95 - The one guy who wasn't fooled by your quick duck into a ship's superstructure and is waiting for you at the other end. #96 - The other guy who wasn't fooled by your quick duck into a ship's superstructure, followed you in, and lit your six up like some kind of a damn hero. #97 - The inappropriately-placed superstructure pylon you flew into after you flew through the smoke cloud of the person you followed into the ship's superstructure. See what being a damn hero gets you.
  8. In the name of the Holy Strike Inquisition!
  9. And we have good pilots who are willing to take rookies under their wing for a few matches! Oh, wait, I'm not supposed to be helping the TEH plugging. Sorry. Read, 'people with a sense of sportsmanship', Nem.
  10. Exactly! I'm starting to think I should directly build a ship that I don't typically fly, but keep on my bar because I can and do occasionally enjoy flying it. That way, Bomberball comes a'rollin', and at least I've got an answer for it. Think I'll outfit my Pike for the job. Most of my dogfighting legwork, I do on my Clarion, Flashfire or (those of you who've flown against me can attest to this) my Quarrel, anyway. I just keep the Pike around because it's nice to have a toothier Strike sometimes. And I'm trying to think of a reason I haven't had this idea before. I think part of it is that I don't usually want to specialize, because it means that build would have to be ineffective against some things, and I don't like building so heavily towards something that I leave glaring weaknesses for someone else to exploit. But the truth is, I've already done this by not creating a Bomberdog build.
  11. Just finished the recap! Thanks for taking the time to check up with us, gentlemen! Lots of interesting information! ...also makes me want to take a pass by EMP Missile again now.
  12. That's interesting to hear that the metrics they're recording seem to be slanted. That's really very objective data which I'm really glad to know the guys in Austin have. Because really, if GSF were as some of the more alarmist, reactionary posters on the forums make it out to be, I'd be convinced that this was the single worst game since Atari's E.T.
  13. I believe the phrase my father preferred to use in instances like these was "Hey! Payback is a med-evac!"
  14. I think this is a good question set, and will tune in with the hope that some of these can be addressed!
  15. You wouldn't be able to make yourself do it even if he did.
  16. I'm becoming concerned that this is what I'm turning into as a result of flying against certain folks on my server. As such, I will no longer engage them in a match from this point onward.
  17. Spookular! I'll be glad to face her in the future, to test my skills against the pilot (singular use intended) I feared most starting out!
  18. Really! Hmm! Did she bring Rainous with her, too?
  19. As long as one of the Episode depicts Strike Night, I'm good.
  20. To Irialle, Jai-din, Dainan, and Steelwind, and condolences to Germanium for that Denon Domination Map. The Imps hit 970, and for once, Bey'wan wasn't talking out his fuzzy Bothan butt when he said "Don't quit fighting! We can still win this!" Because we did. Three-cap hat trick, turned it around from a score hovering around 580 to nab the win. Strike Night REALLY DOES make GSF better. Even though Dainan was flying a Bomber. He got talked to, don't worry.
  21. While I, for one, can appreciate the sentiment, Jakkers, don't. We know who they are and we are under no obligation to play with them when we see them on the board. If these players aren't out to have the same kind of fun we are, nobody is putting a gun to our head to make us play with them. For those of us who have been flying a while and are known for sticking out matches, dropping group right at launch is a very clear message.
  22. ...this movie haunts me. I swear I've gone through three screen names and eventually, somebody wants to make a Tarantino flick about killing me. Anyway, that's pretty much any day anybody recognizes my name across the board from them. As it should be. I guess I make it easy enough, anyway...
  23. Yeah, pfft, who cares about you, Verain? We're on about Bombers. Y'all are a different matter.
