  1. I've seen at least guy in the 30s with no advanced class. Not really sure what the point is though.
  2. Agreed, but if you roll PVE you have less standing to complain about a lack of PVP.
  3. All of this kind of crap is simply a matter of personal preference. The only argument that makes sense, which you can accept or reject based on your own feelings, is that if you add in UI customization and Add-ons, people will feel obligated to use them, or socially pressured to use them, and some people don't want that hassle. It takes the social problem of people telling other how to play the game up a notch. Anti-addon people just want to avoid the headache and hassle by having them not be an option.
  4. You could inspect them to see what gear gives you the fashion sense.
  5. There are many game related mechanical problems. First, the Storylines would break. You would either have to have some kind of built in spot in the story for "turning" or it would have to be a follow up story AFTER you finish the full class storyline. Second problem is unique snowflake syndrome. Within a few weeks like 50% of the Jedi would probably be Purebloods with some variation of Drizzt Do'Urden as their name :-p Third it is more troublesome for the non Force classes. OK, maybe you can rationalize a Trooper going rogue and becoming a Bounty Hunter, or a Bounty Hunter enlisting... But how are you swapping IAs and Smugglers? Or do you mean you want stay a Jedi mechanically but just swap sides? That is probably more programming work, more voice acting, more hassle :-p
  6. What is missing from the equation is that in a game designed with this system, it is easier and cheaper to get the gear, because the game is designed for it. The gear system under this paradigm would look nothing like what currently exists in game. Really all this does, and the sandbox model by implication, is mean that people that ONLY want to do Crafting can spend 100% of their play experience crafting and that feeds the players that actually like going out and blowing stuff up. :-p It isn't bad, just different, but THAT vision of SWTOR would not resemble the current game at all, so it is kind of pointless to pine for.
  7. Yes, it is a system that only functions in Sandbox style games that do not use the classic D&D derived "Level" system.
  8. You are trying to compare a Themepark MMO (WoW, SWTOR, etc) with a Sandbox MMO (SWG, Eve Online, etc). The two systems have radically different design values and goals. Because of the huge success of WoW, developers have more or less adopted the Themepark model as the default. Sandbox games, which are very cool in their own right, tend to be smaller, niche games. I have also noted that games over the years have moved away from models that require player cooperation to those that are more and more "solo friendly." But I think that speaks more to the way our society is moving and how our game play reflects that than it does about MMOs.
  9. #FirstWorldProblems Yeah, don't wait for your drinking water to get poisoned, but speculating that that there may not be enough max level PVPers on your PVE server one month after release does not necessarily qualify as a problem as much as a small inconvenience. Options available include rolling an Alt on a PVP server, rolling an alt on Nathema, attempting to recruit like minded players on his server to PVP, posting on the forums.
  10. Full = More people, which is good for PVP However, that said, the game is like what a month old? Give it time for people to finish leveling, enjoy the game, and then start PVPing. If you can't stand it, let your sub lapse for a month or two and then come back.
  11. I was going to feel bad for you, then I checked and confirmed you are on a PVE server and complaining that people don't want to PVP. Were there no PVP servers available when you made your character? While I enjoy both PVE and PVP in a game, there are many diehard non-PVPers who play MMOs... and you picked the type of server they like.
  12. While I agree it is trivial, they do boast that the game is 100% voiced and yet there are those little terminals that give you quests with text still
  13. As much as some of them have aggravated me, I doubt that they are really required in any way. I suspect if you just limited yourself to the "easy" ones you'd still do fine, or skip them all.
  14. I believe they are just easier to find. Sites like KNOTOR show a slew of neutral available Relics. I know Artificers make some self-only ones.
  15. I suspect thousands of people are already doing that, without bothering with the backstory. I do like your RP dedication though.
  16. I have to agree here, the OP is doing it wrong. You want to only do Rich/Bountiful Lockbox missions, and that means sticking with tiers 4 and 5. Don't do max level (tier 6) missions because they are only Moderate yield value. You will make money. But you will not make tons of money quickly unless you are online for a good chunk of time sending your guys out over and over.
  17. I am totally fine with the ability to suppress my hat from showing at all :-p
  18. I don't think there is enough practical difference in application to have a"best." Do you like spamming TK Throw or Disturbance? :-p Really the main difference as far as questing goes is that they have different attacks that give them the procs and specials.
  19. Normally I don't indulge in this, but I stopped reading after you misspelled "compare" like five times in one paragraph.
  20. I have found Bonus Series quests on Taris, Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine as well, so I think that almost every world after your faction capitol has them.
  21. If I understand you correctly, you want to do all the solo quests prior to doing your Class series? If so, then yes this is absolutely doable. Remember, the "normal" quests on each planet have to be wholly independent of the class series, after all, everyone, be they Troopers or Smugglers or whatever have to be able to get those. I am not sure what you mean by "World" stories... if you mean that some quests are pre-requisites for other quests, then yes that is also the case. You will find a lot of breadcrumb type quests to lead you around from one area to the next. Also, if you are just randomly exploring the map, it appears that on contested worlds the Empire and Republic usually quest in different areas, so you will likely wander into enemy territory.
  22. It is quite possible the better rank 6 Slicing missions were victims of the nerf. The only time I see a Wealthy rank 6 Slicing mission is if it comes from an artifact grade mission discovery.
  23. The problem is the prices are not unreasonable... Remember that people have to pay thousands of credits for Missions to be run to gather randomized materials to craft with. The days of completely "free" materials you harvest yourself are somewhat nonexistant.
  24. Histrionics aside, the message to the OP is that no, there are no good Lockbox missions in the top tier. If you are not looking for Augments stick to running the Rich Lockboxes at tier 5 and 4.
  25. Your are at Quest at 36? Did you skip a bunch of quests on other planets? I am more a completest I guess, I am still on Balmorra at 38. I would suggest buying gear made by Players for your companion. You can get stuff that is far superior to the quest greens. Or get him some Orange gear and plug in good mods. Forcequake is great for large packs of weak and normal enemies, but I usually forego it when dealing with strong opponents.
