  1. Maybe the point is to focuse on your favorite companions .....you have months before the last chapter ...get to work saving those companions ....LOL So what your saying is players want more impactful stories but don't want any penalties? ... and I want to eat pizza and chocolate cake every night and not get fat.
  2. This sounds like a bug, and I think it might have happened to me as well. On my counselor story quests I was sent back to a lower level planet at a point in the story I would be about level 49 and I one or two shot'ed the bad guys ..the fight was about 30 sec. long.
  3. In beta it was possible for players to lose a companion because of story choices, Bioware had to remove it because it was possible for a player to gimp himself by losing their only healing or tanking companion. However the side effect of this is the story content became less impactful, the player rarely gets the feeling that their choice impacts the story. So Bioware did two things (1) they made it so each companion could fill all the needed roles (tank, healer, or DPS) and (2) they added a virtual army of companions for you to care about. Personally I think Bioware is taking the SWTOR story to place like what we saw in the ending of Mass Effect 2 were your choices actually kills off companions. So yes based on how well you level your influence with them and the choices you make you may lose some of them as the KOTFE story line continues. Welcome to story driven endgame.
  4. I’m really digging the combat this time around, Combat was one of the reasons I quit (about 9 months after launch) but now it feels so much better then what I remember. And I agree, 4.0 was a sloppy update that said I’m sure Kotfe was a nightmare of an update with the number of systems they touched …companions, Heroic’s, OP’s, crafting, leveling, the addition of the Alliance system….etc ….it was far more than just a story content update.
  5. I’m here for the sheer volume of options the new content opens up, the new KOTFE story (Best story content Bioware’s done since Mass Effect 2), the Alliance Systems, the level sync that now means I can visit content I previously skipped and collect crafting matts and rewards relevant to my level, 14 Solo and 24 group Flashpoints, well over 50 heroic zones with rewards that tie in to the Alliance Endgame, 10 Operations, 5 Warzones, Alderaan, Belsavis, Hoth, Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine and Voss New Star Fortress Flashpoints with both solo and small group versions. Guild Planetary conquests and personal weekly conquests that tie into elder game crafting, improved companion system 14 world bosses that now can’t be face rolled by solo players thanks to level sync, …and progression elder game content for solo players, small groups, large groups, Guilds and PvP players. I personally think KOTFE was a strategic update that was totally needed for them to take the game where they needed to go. The Alliance system and companion updates now lets them kill off companions without totally gimping your gameplay to provide player story impact (See Mass Effect 2 ending), the Star Fortresses and Alliance system give them an elder game and retention mechanic for solo or story focused players, The single story path of KOTFE will encourage players to shed some of their alts and help to collect a critical mass of players at level 65 prepared to take on large group content instead of rolling another alt and playing the story content for the 365th time.
  6. I have to agree, their F2P model sucks, they should have just made it a B2P model like GW2 IMHO. Perhaps it was a lack of confidence in their cash shop. I subbed back 2 months ago but I also gave them a year’s worth of subscription fees by what I’ve spent in the last 2 months in the cash shop.
  7. Thanks Kacynski, I think you’re one of the very few that read through my entire post and got it.
  8. I feel the same way Kaedusz, I spent way too many hours over the last 2 weeks in this game...LOL, I've got a list of things I want to accomplish and not enough time to do them all
  9. For the art style they chose to go with I think the game still looks ok, however if you start to compare some of the original armor with the newer armor models the older models look like blurry pieces of crap, they should be removed or updated. The other noticeable improvement made in KOTFE was in the character models if you look at the new companions and villains you’ll see a huge improvement with facial features, beards and hair that IMHO should be applied to the rest of the game (or at the very least the Player Characters)…. Let’s face it the old mustaches look like something had a terd on your upper lip
  10. /Agree The KOTFE expansion got me to take another look at the game but all the quality of life changes and new systems added since vanilla is whats inspired me to stay. Playing way too much and waking up with that MMO hangover, Wow its been a long time since a MMO grabbed me like that. Stay tuned for the wave of veterans about to tell us why we're wrong
  11. I retured because.... To be honest when I originally beta tested Swtor and subbed I was a bit burnt out on MMO's. At that point I had played some form of EQ/WoW like MMO for nearly 13 year and I was looking for something different. Swtor seemed to be a game that fit that bill. From beta testing I new the core 1 to 50 experience was never going to lend itself well to grouping however the flashpoints were fun but were out-levelled quickly and became content you never returned to. And I think at that point they had like only one OP,...so yes original I was here for the Bioware Star Wars story ....or in other words Kotor 1,2,3,4,5,6 ....as Bioware was selling it at the time. After about a year however and 4 level 50's the game really started to drag. The story for me never really worked that well as the traditional MMO pacing of the game worked against the story elements. In those days as you remember you literally had to do nearly every “kill 10 rat” quest in the game to reach the level needed for the next planet so repeating all the world and exploration quests often broke the core story elements up so much and introduced so many side quest stories following the plot of the core story became tedious. Not to mention repeating all the same planetary and exploration quests for each class became nauseating. And I'll admit the KOTFE expansion did get me to reload the game largely because of the new story, however I became pleasantly surprised by all the other quality of life changes and features added to the game. 14 solo mode flashpoints, 14 tactical mode flashpoints, 24 hard mode flashpoints, 10 Story or Hard mode Operations with a total of 52 bosses in both 8 and 16 man versions, 14 open world bosses, 5 warzones, Level sync to keep content relevant, streamlined the 1 to 60 levelling experience, making the exploration quests optional, the much needed fast travel improvements, the addition of the legacy system rewarding players for trying all the classes, the revamp to the companions to heal, tank or DPS ....this was a fix that needed to go in they had to take out the story impact in beta with companions permanently leaving the player as some classes would be left without a tank or a healer. The addition of the KOTFE Alliance endgame gave story focused players a much needed endgame retention mechanic and a way to progress into the next to best gear in the game. Having a retention mechanic for the 90% of players not running OP's was much needed. Capital Ships was a much asked for element, I was also glad they added along with Capital Ships player housing in the way of Strongholds and gave them a game play connection to personal and guild conquest goals was also a smart idea. So from the perspective of a returning player it appears Bioware made the requested and needed changes, all off the above played a factor in them winning back my sub. I hope you get the content your looking for.
  12. Its a i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz .... 16GB Ram .... with a GTX780m Its a few years old but still does the job.
  13. That was my point, you have some offshore MMO's still trying but in the west the risk factor has just dried up the funding for MMO's Another Star Wars MMO is likely a decade away or more and its obviously apparent after 2 kicks at the can that the Star Wars brand alone is not enough to ensure a run away success.
  14. As a returning player to the game my perspective is different then yours,...is that ok? Perhaps you should try a half dozen other MMO's for a few months and your perspective might change too. IMHO allot of people are taking what this game has to offer for granted.
