  1. That would've been a great idea to do here and just give us Legacy level 1 at character creation to serve as the personal identifier for all of our toons on that server, further defined individually with a first name of our choice (which could have then been the same as other's first names). A day late and a dollar short, but brilliant.
  2. I would like to see Cyborg Legacy unlocks allow cybernetic options for races you also have unlocked. If you have a 50 Chiss and a 50 Cyborg, or have paid enough credits to unlock them both, you can then make a Chiss (regardless of class) with Cybernetic options.
  3. Actually, these days you can ride them in every spaceport (thankfully). Sorry, but that was a change that came with 1.2.
  4. Edit: On second thought, I'm not sure if I can say what I really want without it coming off as rude. Since that's not my intention, I have edited this response to: The fact remains that while some feel this odd need to feel important, when that need to feel important interferes with others' need to play the game with as little interference from others as possible, then I cannot help but think the needs of the many (those just wanting to enjoy the game) outweighs the need of others to feel important. Besides, not everyone seeks out special items in order to have something to brag about. I have a character who dresses in black and grey (surprise) and I sought out the black speeder to complete his image. I have never felt a need to brag about it. The entire point was so my character would look cool and the only person my character's coolness is important to is me. I don't feel a need to impress anyone other than myself. (Disclaimer: This response is not intended to be rude, mocking, or otherwise negative toward any community member. The purpose is discussion offer my opinion in response to someone else's opinion. Thank you.)
  5. If they removed vehicles in fleet, that would just be one more reason for me to spend as little time there as possible. Unless, they just give us all a 110% speed buff while on fleet (for those with auto-run on. walk could be the normal speed for RPers). I'd be okay with no vehicles in fleet in that case.
  6. Have you considered implementing contests for the community to participate in? These may be anything from fluff item, speeders, or even social gear items design contests, fiction writing, or art design contests. You could even sponsor fun things like videos, comic strips, or caption contests. Awards could be anything from item designs incorporated into the game, having artistic-style contest winners featured on the official site, or maybe even a month of game time. I think this would be a fun, exciting way to include the community in the foundation of the game. Thanks!
  7. I'll apologize now as I am in no way intending to mock or be rude to you. However, I have to know: How does it work where intentionally holding out a strongly desired service generating more money than just releasing the service? Especially if (and I do mean if) it is a paid service? I'm honestly confused about that. Thanks.
  8. Remember, the community team won't release any information they haven't been authorized to release. In this economy, I'd want to keep my job too.
  9. I lost all 8. I tried to plan ahead but I never guessed they would put all the EC RP servers in an already Heavy server. My bad. I was seriously surprised by my loss of Legacy name though. And no, none of them were rip offs or clones of pop culture from any medium. Oh well. Life goes on... until it doesn't.
  10. Fair enough. I'm only suggesting you can do that and be respectful at the same time. Let our little exchange serve as an example. Have a good one. (What I really need to do is unsubscribe from this thread LOL)
  11. I know you're right, but you can express that opinion without all the insults. Belittling people does not prove your point.
  12. Maybe if you could stop insulting people they might care what you think.
  13. Thankfully we don't have any of that either (yet). I'm not opposed to cosmetic or convenience UI changes at all. I'm simply not partial to addons that alter gameplay (like 1 click, multiple skill triggers and things that make a role literally a no brainer: like healbot) if it isn't incorporated by BioWare for everyone at the same time. I am also not agreed with overly abusable addons like Recount (which is a shame since the intention of recount was to help you improve yourself, not as a scorecard for number racing) and Gearscore (which was always bad, but became a dominating force as to who was "better" or "worthy.") I want BioWare to open up addon development, but with severe and strict restrictions on what can be implemented.
  14. I'm not uninformed. I am experienced. As mentioned previously, certain addons would make the game easier as it is. This forces the developers to intentionally build future content around the use of these addons. Over time, two things happen: it gets to the point where encounters without these addons become extremely difficult and raiders discriminate against those who do not use the addons making it far more difficult for the average consumer to experience the end game content until the next release when they can tone down older content. There is little point going into the various reasons why people choose not to use addons (not the least of which is malicious software hidden in addons - which happened to Curse at least twice). I personally attended the Athens Game Conference in 2006 where the Project Manager for WoW was the keynote speaker. He flat out explained the unintended consequences of allowing community addons during his presentation. Sure, there are pros to go with the cons, but his point was certain types of addons forced Blizzard to take the game in directions they didn't necessarily want to go. I would hardly call that uninformed.
  15. For what it's worth, I wouldn't count on it. I think we will at least be waiting until 1.4 for more character slots. That is a guess I base on the very few things they've said about it lately (I forgot where I read it, but it was recent). I do remember where I read the following, however. It is the response to the question about what will happen if your destination server already has 8 slots: Personally, I'm hoping they open multiple destinations as the solution, but we shall see. I hope the above helps to some degree. Remember, the community team won't release any information they haven't been authorized to release. In this economy, I'd want to keep my job too.
  16. Actually, it was BW who was opposed to Cross Server LFG tools. I'm fairly certain (from everything I've ever read from the Devs on the issue) community input had nothing to do with it.
  17. I agree and can relate to all of this. I'm also someone who healed for years in WoW and I guess the difference is I play a healer because I love the role. That means I make it work. I'm not a healer to "just get groups." I have no problem clicking between folks and hitting my heal hotkeys. In fact, it's part of what makes healing a challenge. Yes, I use the (normal optic) mouse and keyboard in concert in order to do well. Oddly enough, I do very well in PvP with other characters and am a "clicker." So as long as you can see appropriately and have your arms, hands, and fingers, I cannot relate to needing things to be easier. The thing I'm most worried about is the elitists already have enough to force cookie-cutter playstyles on people with the WoW Talent trees we have and the antiquated WoW-style gear system (modable gear aside). We don't need people forcing 3rd party software on us. Also, I'd hate to see the fun taken out of the game. I am not the kind of player who will fail once in a solo game and then run to gamefaqs for the solution. I'm not here to watch a game. I'm here to actively play one. If the game degenerates to "just showing up" to win there will be no point in it for me. Having played WoW for years, I know exactly how addons dumb things down and I would hate to see that happen here. This statement was perfect if you stopped right there. And this is why: LOL
  18. Hah! Awesome. I totally overlooked that thread. Thank you!
  19. Odd. I'm quite successful with both my healer and tank without a single addon. I'm especially good with my healer because healing is so easy in this game (at least with merc/commando). I think folks don't realize one simple fact. Addons really only make current content easier. The more addons that enter the game the more the developers have to develop for the addons instead of the players. WoW acknowledged as much years ago and it got to the point to where normal gameplay required addons. Whether you used 3rd party addons or not eventually became a discriminating factor (and I mean before the ludicrous miss-use of Recount and any use of Gear Score). I whole-heartidly wish BioWare does not allow game play affecting addons. Convenience addons, sure. I miss my one bag. I miss Cartographer. I miss my WoWHead (in this case TORHead) quest helper, etc. (I realize we don't need QuestHelper or OneBag... they're just examples of convenience addons). What we don't need are game-play cheats (like HealBot and Omen) that encourage the developers to develop future content assuming everyone uses 3rd party cheats. Let's stop sugar-coating it. That's exactly what they are: cheats. For all the complaints about how much like WoW SWTOR really is, it seems odd how much more like WoW some folks wish this game was. Edit: I hope you can understand when it comes to opinion topics, such as this, I tend to offer my opinion before reading everyone else's because I present my viewpoint before being swayed by the opinions of others. That having been said, I'm most pleased with the majority of responses in this thread so far. You guys surprised me. And... Absolutely. While I cannot think of a detailed description of how I would like to see buffs and debuffs improved, I do agree that is one of the more difficult issues with the UI. If I think of something to add, I'll post it. Edit Again: Oh, and for the love of everything competitive, please do not let players use macros to automate any game play features. Being able to perform multiple gameplay effects (like activating skills, on use items, etc) by pressing one button should be considered iniquitous, especially in a game where PvP has become such a dominating factor. Macros should be for chat, emotes, and things that do not hasten or otherwise alter the actual mechanics (or player speed). Otherwise, they should all be pre-programmed and automatically set-up for everyone. Success should not depend on someone's clever ability to program. Rather, we shouldn't have to take extra steps above and beyond what the game provides (from a technical standpoint) to be successful.
  20. Well played... well.. played...
  21. That would be great! But then, I'd want to move back. Well, I already want to move back and my request for that have been completely ignored, of course. I guess we'll see what happens, though.
  22. To play along... that's actually a great point, in my opinion. You have to figure they were doomed immediately to begin with. As you point out, they actually survive well beyond the ancestors we helped back in KOTOR. Technically, I'd say we did our part and it was for the better of those we helped. It only fell a part generations afterward which, by my estimation, puts it well out of our hands. If you follow my logic, technically we are dead and gone by the time Taris falls. To clarify one point... it's not that I totally disassociate myself from the experience (whether it be a movie or video game or even a great book). It's that I don't dwell on it. I take it in. I experience it. I let it go. If I held on to every (or really any) feeling I felt from a fictional source, I fear I would eventually become overwhelmed and possibly become a basket-case. To the OP, it was never my intention to suggest my way of thinking or feeling was any better than yours. I honestly thought you were joking at first. No matter how bad my life has been I know it pales in comparison to many of the difficulties others face. At the end of the day, deal with life however you can. Everyone seems to have an opinion about how others should think, feel, or live their lives. That wasn't my intention, however. Good journeys...
