  1. out of the ones i did agent and inquisitor rank top but in truth they are all poor compared to what a singleplayer story could had been.
  2. It would help if the environments were somewhat more interesting. WoW has lots of interesting features in their environments. To me TOR does not offer much new only story which isnt that great and what it does offer is sub par to whats already out there. Will TOR grow into a success who knows but time is ticking away. Id imagine there will be a point where they have marked if they drop below a certain sub to stop major development on it.
  3. I will! but not as a pandaren (which are cool and in the lore and was designed way before the film kung fu panda) Going human monk me thinks. As for the pet battle system, pokemon was one of the biggest games for nintendo on the gameboy. So cannot be all bad. TOR could do with a few side distractions.
  4. They will give us a day or so and then tell us that jedi is now a starter proffession and that all my hard work was for nothing . Im sure they will give us plenty notice, not that they really need to cause theres nothing that will greatly effect us apart from mabye legacy which im still not sure on.
  5. Yeah but EA is the bigger investor here and has more clout than what the bioware devs want.
  6. Hey your right!! somebody give me a job please No in truth designing mmo's is hard but then again theres lots of examples out there. But I will say blizzard seemed and still seems to be doing things right. Sure the formula they use is getting a bit old now and we seek something fresh but it was still great. Not blizzard's fault were getting bored of it after many years. I cannot actualy find any flaws in WoW's design. But I can with TOR's. Which might be down to blizzard just being better than bioware. They may have just got lucky, who knows what the reasoning is. I see alot of TOR will get better, TOR has potential etc I hope it does but im not going to wait around for it to happen. Done that too many times with previous mmo's and in the end they never reached what they set out to do.
  7. Actualy Dragon age might work but bioware would probably make it so you can only be human. Also they wouldnt be creative with classes and they would stick to mage, warrior, rogue. Instead of adding new interesting concepts to DA like necromancer or warlock mabye even druid. Still id rather not see that and i think mass effect has greater lore and possibilities. The sooner they jump ship from TOR the better and the quicker they can start on a new project so im all for them dumping TOR in a year or so. But i know alot of people would be unhappy at that so mabye keep it going a bit longer with a skeleton crew.
  8. That review pretty much sums up my feelings. Fact is there will always be people willing to play till the end and there are those who cannot stand it and move on to something they consider better. If I made TOR i probably wouldnt want to give up on it but then again I might also be thinking lets stop major production on it and admit our failures and start with a new fresh idea for a bioware mmo. No doubt there will be a few thoughts about a mass effect mmo now that the trilogy has finished. I would probably go for something wild and release a Jade Empire mmo though . As far as im aware the bioware austin team are the mmo guys and the canada team are the singleplayer game group. I could be wrong though. Who knows whats next for bioware hopefully something good.
  9. Great effort but strangely cannot compete with whats already out there which really puzzles me.
  10. Ive learnt something great from this TOR experiance. That is that deep story should be kept to your singleplayer games. I loved the idea of story on such scale in an mmo at first but after seeing it in practice it doesnt work. Alot of people said it wouldnt work and they were right. I do love the quest structure but it came at a cost of the rest of the game and now bioware actualy has got to build the mmo of TOR and not just a pretty story. Also i feel the quality of the story in the mmo is not that good anyway. Theres no epic moments that i remember. EA will most likely if not already delegated TOR to a skeleton crew or has plans to do so in the near future cause its quite clear to me already that TOR wont be the success EA and bioware had imagined. Of course EA will not care they probably got a good deal out of it and got all their money back. But i feel for the bioware devs as they have a rep to maintain and probably didnt recieve the majority of the sales.
  11. Might do when it goes free to play. Thats what happened to STO. When EA no longer care about the product? I could see it on steam at some point though.
  12. I played swg religiously, i loved kotor and i like star wars however i cannot play this game cause it does not tick enough mmo boxes for me and i can get a better mmo fix elsewhere. My opinion of course but it shows that just cause you like kotor doesnt mean you will like TOR. I liked dragon age but i hate dragon age 2. Anyway to summarise theres better mmo's on the market for me than TOR.
  13. Its ok saying an mmo needs to grow but it should not be growing from a subpar level to whats already out there. TOR started behind the competition but theres no reason it should have done. It cannot be that hard to play a diverse selection of mmo's and pick out what works and what does not and then put all those ideas on the design board and say well these features are must haves, these ideas are quite good but people complained about them so lets try to refine them. These ideas tottaly didnt work in that mmo so we wont do that. Also you need to look at future mmo's and what they are doing and planning. Are they doing anything different and new, can we steal it and make it better. I dunno, it fell short of expectations for many people. It will continue on but the damage its suffered already makes me think of vanguard saga of heroes. Which although is a good mmo never recovered from its early mistakes.
  14. Story cannot support an mmo alone you still need the core mmo features that are expected these days. Also actualy story is not highly valued in the genre anyway, most people skip the text in WoW and other mmo's unless its interesting. The focused too much on story and left all the other pilars weak, it takes more than 1 pillar to hold up the roof. anyway if i was to review TOR in its current state Gameplay: 3 Sound: 5 Story: 8 Longetvity: 5 overall 6.5/10 I see a bad future for TOR.
  15. I took a break some time back cause i felt the game didnt live up to my expectations. Then I was bored and felt i didnt give it enough time so resubbed and a few days ago i cancelled again and my reason this time was going to another game. WoW TOR has no soul its an empty void.
  16. The way I took the whole why 15 a month sub question was that TOR isnt up to standard to be worthy of a monthly fee not that it should be a free to play cash shop model. TOR may have had the money put into it for it to be AAA but in truth it falls short of being AAA mmo. Looking at past mmo's if you fall short and people start to dislike it then they often never become big. Does not mean they are not successful though. LOTRO was still successful but it was never big. TOR will fit into that catagory I feel because it will struggle to recover from the negativity surrounding it. Also biowares plummeting reputation wont help. Shame cause they were a great team back when they were making the likes of nwn, jade empire, kotor. I can only assume that the team changed from back in the glory days and they got some new people with new ideas which isnt a bad thing but you get used to a developers style. Some people will still continue to like TOR though which is great cause mabye one day it will become something.
  17. hmm you make a valid point about it being easier to press shift ctrl etc. It acutaly seems to work better than wasd but ive never used ESDF
  18. I actualy like the design, would be a costly project but worth more than the design of TOR. Would be very hard to pull off would need decent programming team and many years. Still perhaps you should flesh out the design and write a design document and stuff who knows mabye a publisher would be interested. Having options for everyone would be the ultimate mmo and as you said in order to do that you need a selection of games within a huge game.
  19. I actualy went back to WoW last week and I still enjoy it. Enjoyed my time on it more than TOR. However I never played WoW solid for months and months I always played a bit of WoW and then switched to another mmo for a while and then back to WoW. The mmo i miss the most is FFXI because as someone mentioned before you can log on and not really do much but still have fun. The community was by far the best ive ever played with. You had to work together to level and advance and everyone was always helpful. It had deep systems like crafting and nations could take over territory giving benefits. The game was also difficult and combat was not something you could easily learn to be most effective. Mabye we need some big developer to come and make an mmo of old and see how it does but nobody will fund such a project due to risk factor. So you have to rely on small indie companies and they dont do so good or they make something awesome but for facebook lol. Strangely I rate runescape back when it was a 2d masterpiece higher than TOR. It might have looked crap but it was deeper and the quests were really varied and not all combat based. If i wanted i could just bake or make wine.
  20. If it had any impact it would have been minimal. WoW has been bleeding subs for some time now. However its still the most played mmo and with good reason. Also the people who have left TOR will probably go back to WoW until the next WoW killer comes along lol.
  21. All hail the king that is WoW Speaking of TERA though its not that grindy for an asian mmo. Ive played alot of asian mmo's and TERA is far from a grindfest. I like TERA's combat its different, it feels fresh and it suffers from lag lol. I think TOR will struggle unless it catches up as currently all it has is the unique setting and story. I could just watch the star wars films and get the same, or read a star wars book. Or actualy play one of biowares good games such as kotor. GW2 is looking good. Secret world has the advantage of being skill based and not class based but from what ive seen graphicaly looks awful, which is suprising considering its funcom. All i can say is that I will be playing TERA and i will be playing Guild Wars 2. I might even play mists of pandaria but at moment finding very little keeping me with TOR as i fail to feel that its an mmo and i can play better single player games.
  22. Yeah I get annoyed when you join a warzone thats obviously a lost cause and only has a few minutes left. The game should just end and award the current leading team double rewards. I dont see why they cant have a lobby type system where you can see all warzone matches currently in session and choose a game room to join that is continous. Similar to games like Call of duty and battlefield. It would also allow people to set up guild vs guild matches and just make the whole game alot more fun and give the player more control. Mabye even allow private lobbys to be set up with password.
  23. Grouping up is what mmos should be about but when theres no incentive people wont do that. Its one of the reasons i miss FF 11. Now there was a game where you used to have to group and it was fun. I think one of the main problems is the way quests are. Thing is if you have a certain list of quests and your friend doesnt its a pain to group cause your on different sections. Also leveling is so quick its quite easy to fall behind. FF 11 was a slow leveling process and the ability to switch jobs and start from level 1 on the same character was a unique idea that works really well. In FF 11 the most efficient way to level was in a group as solo meant facing weak enemies yielding little experiance. While as a group you could chain link your fights giving xp boost.
  24. I agree that these need adding but I feel they could also be a bit bigger than a simple mini game that people dont play. In swoop racing it could come in the form of having your own swoop and being able to upgrade it and mabye even form your own team for competition with big credit rewards and mabye even more parts for swoops. Considering swoop racing was done on a time trial basis it wouldnt be too hard to implement either, just need a leaderboard with everyones set times and team name. Could even have a system where its a league where 2 teams get pitted agaisnt each other. Each team has a week to set their times the fastest time gets so many points and 2nd fastest gets so half points. Then the next week a different two teams etc. Until everyone has raced each other. Would be nice to even have teams able to build their own swoop tracks but its not neccessary but it would be a nice addition. Each teams points are then tallied up onto the league board. Pazaak should be even simpler as its just a card game.
  25. I find it a little sad that the one thing that makes this mmo is the voice over work. Shouldnt it be the actual mmo game and design not some voiced quests. But yet many people claim that the one thing that makes TOR stand out, if it didnt have that then TOR would be nothing. TOR should be alot more than just voiced quests.
