  1. I don't think any of the above quoted (consequences, risk, adrenaline) can apply to any modern MMORPG without a high risk/reward PKing system. I don't feel at risk in a game where dying results in losing a few coins and a bit of backtracking here at there at most.. Just mostly annoyed.
  2. News about EA's recent layoff is not new. It's been circulating for a while now. And 'evidence' in the first link about BF3 and SWTOR having a poor commercial performance is just some guy talking out of his ***.
  3. A lot of time passes off-screen actually. I don't remember exactly, but in the first two games it's about six to twelve months for each.
  4. He also won #1 TOR companion over at IGN http://pc.ign.com/articles/122/1222755p1.html
  5. I spent most of my TOR game time with Khem Val, so...
  6. I think I heard Champions online could let you create a rival character and defeat him. Would be cool if you could kill off your own character... and steal his ship.
  7. IDK if that proves they were 'good', the force using fish people from the infinite empire were slavers and afaik they blame their own hubris, misuse of the force, etc. for their failure.
  8. A force user with the cunning of both a sith and a hutt, now that's something to be scared of.
  9. Members part of a sentient species don't necessarily have to be evil, you know. I always liked playing the outsider in a roleplaying game, the 'unlikely hero', so to speak. This is like saying that all drow from DnD have to be evil because most of them are. You still have the option of playing a good drow, if you like. Also, just because Sith Pureblood were part of the Empire before patch 1.2, doesn't mean they were all evil. Player choice could already enable Pureblood players to play a 'good Sith'. if they wanted, so it'd make more sense to complain when you first heard about Sith Purebloods going light side at all.
  10. No, I really liked Mass Effect 3, but I don't think you can compare the two that easily. All high-profile singleplayer games will have more time, resources, etc., devoted to a 'shorter' experience than MMOs will. I like MMOs obviously, but in a way they've always been about quantity over quality to an extent. To give a game longevity you can't put one hour's worth of the same enticing singleplayer gameplay 'blockbuster' titles have. Instead, you try to hand out one hour's worth of enjoyable content that will want you to come back.
  11. The Jedi were almost wiped out in KotOR II. There were literally only a handful left, and the Republic was also broken. And I think you're forgetting that Sidious lost. He had a huge fleet, an incredible army and got his *** kicked by a grassroots militia and a boy with a bowl cut.
  12. Jedi Masters of his time sent him to kill Malak because they couldn't. It's safe to say that he would've wiped the floor with those Jedi Masters, so that means he is a master-level force user himself. Heck, he was Emperor. Can you tell me of one Emperor in the history of Star Wars that wouldn't qualify as a 'master'?
  13. He got picked up and thrown like a sack of meat. Compared to some of the stuff in the EU that would be pretty anticlimatic.
  14. And games are usually also pretty over the top. The point is to make players feel empowered, either by being made out to be pretty damn power themselves or (/and) taking down powerful enemies.
  15. Uh... everything in SWTOR is up to eleven, like a lot of the material outside the movies. People may say Sidious since the originals are what made them fans but in a slightly more impartial d--- measuring contest Vitiate would wipe the floor with Sidious. Just like the apprentice from The Force Unleashed could kick Vader's ***. You get to see Sith force pushed into giant rocks and surviving, troopers taking out Sith, etc. I have nothing against the classics, obviously they're THE most notable work in the Star Wars universe, but Darth Vader was just some short guy in a bucket. They didn't lay most of the groundwork for the Star Wars universe since after the originals.
  16. I'd have agreed with most of that were it not for defending people who call the devs sexist (lol?) and saying this is very bad customer service. If you're not getting an answer it's most likely the same as "we cant say anything at this point." Saying things now can be different from the final thing and it's only going to confuse a lot of people. That said, it's also not something that needs 'fixing' immediately; it's additional content we're talking about here.
  17. At least they indirectly confirmed that they're looking at creating new companions for existing characters. Yaay!
  18. But as I understand it to get the ones that are being scrapped you have to have a really high valor rank + merc and warzone commendations. I'm not really sure how I could get the Sovereign, Elite, etc. (ones that are being scrapped). I have quite a few credits though...
  19. I agree... they are 'evil' by practically any real life definition of the word. If they're not evil, I don't know what is.
  20. But you won't be able to craft those that will be taken out, will you?
  21. Think a CE pre-order was available for a longer time... heck I easily got one in the last days before launch.
  22. I'm still pretty sure it's not 35 years though... can't be. Your character can still look way too young for that.
  23. So how much time has passed again.... what the heck?! I thought it would be maybe a year or two at best but..!
  24. I was wondering that since you get DS points when trying to make a move on that girl on Nar Shaddaa... the one who helps you with your cult... still don't understand why.
  25. They're aware that many players have already reached level 50, and they're reworking Illum.
