  1. Thanks for the info, Tarbuch. Has me a bit worried about one or two companions though. I've completed a few class stories on my characters a long time ago before I took a break from the game, notw that I'm back I still have a few companions on various characters with completed class story arcs where I haven't unlocked all companion conversations. Am I screwed with those? Reason I'm asking is that I've played them a little but I don't seem to be unlocking anymore conversations with uncompleted companions
  2. How do new conversations with companions open up with the new system? Is it dependent on influence level and how far along you are in your class story like it was with affection level and story or is there some new system in play to determine that? Edit: I'm also wondering if the approve/disapprove notice that appears for some conversation choices has any affect. Can I have sky high influence with a companion but they still hate my guts so much that they won't talk to me?
  3. And it's funded... with 27 days still to go. Not bad, not bad at all.
  4. Agreed. There really is no comparing the two, at the very least in terms of expediture.
  5. The support seems promising, I have no doubt that they'll reach their intended goal. I'd love to see a game like City of Heroes again, nothing has really managed to replace it on the pedestal of "great superhero game."
  6. In this case that tactic, of teaching lessons etc, didn't work out well for them, alienating customers, current and potential, is not good business strategy, drawing the kind of criticism they've gotten from the industry isn't good business strategy and when they've even gotten criticism in their home country it doesn't seem like they made the right choice. Perhaps I'm unclear on the details but to the best of my knowledge NCSoft pretty much blind sided everyone with the shut down of City of Heroes, just like that an anticipated issue (update) was stopped, people were out of a job and so on. How is that good business strategy and how did they not create this bad situation themselves? Perhaps Paragon could have handled it better, I'm not sure about the details there but it seems to me that NCSoft made the situation almost impossible to start with since the moment they acted like this they made a “face issue” practically unavoidable and further exacerbated the situation by making it clear how little they cared for the customers in the west. If there is something I've missed then please inform me and I'll take a look at it. But for now I think that NCSoft's actions were bad not only in regards to how they treated and how their actions affected gamers but it was also pretty poor in regards to how they treated their employees and the shut down in general. Btw are the other examples of this kind of Korean business? I can't help but view this as a very bad way of doing this if not applied correctly, something I think NCSoft failed at in this matter.
  7. I'm sorry but all this talk of "face issue", "teach them a lesson" as well as some of the things you put in later posts only makes NCSoft look even worse, since it makes them look petty. Saying that it's Paragon's fault that NCSoft, and according to you, Korean business practice in general is like this is a bit far fetched. In the end NCSofts behaviour and tactics in this matter don't seem to have served them well. There are a lot of gamers that are sceptical of this company because of it, and quite a few who have boycotted them as a result. Even the industry itself reacted to the way this was handled, there were even newspapers in Korea that criticised NCSoft over this.
  8. Thanks for that :/ *Deleting distrubing mental image*
  9. The less said about people who simply can't stop posting bile after they've stopped playing the better.
  10. The transfers scheduled for t he 12th will be free. Later versions of character transfers, which allow for more freedom of choice when it comes to which server you want to move to, may and probably will (that is my guess anyway) require a fee.
  11. Won't work for alta-holics, like me. Personally I like to have several characters in various stages of playthrough. An obligation to complete 8 class story arcs, and the the 9h and 10th and so on would probably chafe regardless of who you are, as long as you're someone who wants a 9th+ character.
  12. My question exactly. I hope it's not like with hide head slot or the match to chest feature.
  13. If that is the argument then I don't understand the need to spend even more time here trashing the game, as well as on other forums. I'm not saying you're doing this, haven't looked at your post history. I do know that a lot of people are doing this though. Some do indeed have valid complaints and issues that they raise, others simply hang around, day in and day out, hour after hour posting complete bile over and over again. Saying that they paid for it is no justification for that.
  14. Keeping my fingers crossed that server transfers can help you out instead then.
  15. Of course they'll compare it mostly to WoW, that is almost always the case, but as for a lot of people making references to swtor being bad? Doubtful, unless you're the one doing it of course. Swtor has features that GW2 won't have, companions to name one and the way gathering, crafting and crew missions work to name another, also the ability to trade directly with other players will apparently not be in GW2 (hope that's not true). The high expectations of players these days are depressing, if something isn't perfection from the start people rage and rant about "worst game ever" etc. People around here were saying that the swtor launch was the worst ever, when in reality it was one of the smoothest ever, with no servers crashing etc. Diablo 3 is already getting "I'm quitting", "worst game ever" and " "fix this now" threads, to mention a few. I see an immense lack of patience in the gaming community, everything has to happen now or preferably yesterday, nothing can be waited for. Unrealistic expectations and practically non-existent patience are far too common among players these days.
  16. It will be interesting to see what people will say when GW2 comes out. Will the same complaints over missing features that "have to" be there at launch arise I wonder?
  17. So when you hear someone say it's going to be a railshooter you expect something other than a railshooter? We're talking about unrealistic expectations, and expecting an announced railshooter to be something other than just that is unrealistic.
  18. The population issues, at least at this scale, is a recent concern and may in small part be a symptom of the ridiculously high expectations people had. Besides they are moving to fix that issue, hopefully it works. The space shooter is a minigame, that's it, it was never meant to be more and what it was was advertised well in advance. Well, there's crafting and datacron hunting, just off the top of my head. What do you think there should be? I have a three year old comp that runs this game flawlessly on highest settings. If you don't want to play alts that's your choice, as is space-barring through conversations, but if you're missing that content that is also on you.
  19. I think people's expectations were ridiculously high, also, I think there has been an unbelievable amount of complaints almost since launch and while I think BW has been trying hard to improve the game the complaining has just continued, on this forum and others. Some people did indeed raise valid concerns, things that needed to be brought up, other posts on the other hand were just rampant nonsense, exaggerations and sometimes outright falsehoods. The amount of people who have spent several hours a day just posting things that fall into one of the three latter categories mentioned is staggering and I fear for other MMOs if that is the kind of players developers have to please from now on.
  20. You start off with what you consider a likely scenario and then take it for granted. Maybe the free transfers will be like that; only to low/medium, maybe not. Regardless I'm waiting for paid transfers, my imps and reps are on different servers atm both mediumish populations. Personally I have little interest in Guild Wars 2, what I've seen of Secret World hasn't impressed me and I have no interest in playing WoW pre or post next expansion. Good luck to anyone who does want to play any of these other titles though, all the best.
  21. I doubt they'll include a species which can't or simply doesn't speak basic.
  22. Can you really count blood elves and night elves though? They are basically pointy eared humans, and in the case of the night elves, with a different skin colour. And dwarves are really just stocky short humans while gnomes are even shorter humans.
  23. Free server transvers and probably paid transfers will be here beofre more character slots, transfers are to be here in early summer, all they've said about character slots is that its at the planning stage. I'm hoping server transfers and hopefully the closing of a number of servers will hlep the population issue.
