  1. Same here, with a security key. I've been trying to login pretty much continuously for the last 5 minutes and haven't gotten in yet. Still no dev posts or tweets. :/
  2. Or split it into two servers. East Coast alone gets Shadowlands and Jedi Covenant, both of which are supposedly a bit underpopulated, while West Coast and APAC (and a lot of East Coast people who were around for the server merges) are all on Harbinger together. Maybe merge JC and Shadowlands into one server if there are few enough people to do so without overburdening the server, and then dump half of Harbinger onto the remaining server since the hardware is all in the same physical location anyway. Offering a set number of free, first-come-first-served character transfers from Harbinger to the empty server would go a long way towards alleviating the load. AFAIK, your Legacy already transfers with you when you transfer a character over to another server. All unlocks and everything. If you already have a Legacy on your destination server too, then your Legacy Level on that server is set to whichever level is higher and you keep all of the unlocks from both Legacies.
  3. If you don't mind missing out on Early Access, just wait until after the November 2nd deadline before preordering. You'll still get the other bonuses, minus 12x XP and Early Access. If you want Early Access too, you'll just have to live with the XP boost. Just preorder on the day before the deadline and spend November running endgame content if you already have a 55. Sure, I'd like having the toggle too, since I'm a bit of a completionist and I tend to do all of the side missions and Flashpoints while leveling. The only content I'm skipping right now are the (non-FP) Heroics, which is actually enough to keep me from outleveling any content even though I'm doing everything else. But, realistically, I don't think they'll bother making it possible to toggle it or opt out while still preordering in time to get Early Access. I think I'll try to level my two 40s to 55 first, then get the 12x bonus and level a couple alts to 55 too. I don't mind redoing side missions (particularly the planet mission series and bonus series) on a new character, especially when it's been a while since the last time I did them, but since one of my 40s is on the Republic side while the other is Empire, I'm doing pretty much all of that content right now and wouldn't mind skipping it the next time around, especially if "the next time around" happens to be as soon as next month.
  4. A better way, assuming you can change Disciplines on the fly for free in addition to the utility skills (I'm not sure if they clarified that), would be to force you to respec if you end up in a role with the wrong discipline. So you could still queue as two roles, but if you end up in a role that doesn't match your discipline, it makes you respec before it lets you in the instance (or at the very least indicates to the rest of the group that you're the wrong spec so they can vote kick you if you don't respec). You'll still end up with people in the wrong gear sometimes, or people who aren't good at their chosen role, but at least they'll have the right spec, or everyone else in the group will know they have the wrong spec right at the beginning instead of after they've wiped on the first boss.
  5. I think I might actually wait until after November 2nd to preorder so I don't get the 12x XP bonus. Even though I only have one 55 (and a couple of 40s that'll be 55 by then), I'm such a completionist that I always do all of the side missions and bonus series and such. I'll massively outlevel all of the content I'm doing far too quickly if I get the 12x bonus. Yes, I know the fact that I don't rush to the endgame makes me unusual. The point is, 12x is great for new subscribers or people who are currently F2P/Preferred and want to hit 55 in time for SoR, but it's not for everyone and it's not for me. Maybe after my two 40s hit 55, I might consider it so I can level a couple other classes too. But honestly, I'd much prefer getting cartel coins or a trainer holostatue like the RotHC preorder bonus since I missed the deadline for that one. Or maybe a Rep boost instead of an XP boost. Actually, a Rep boost would be AWESOME. I do see the point of the XP boost, though. They want people to reach 55 before the expansion is released, so they can play the new content immediately. It makes perfect sense from their point of view. I just wish there was some other incentive for those of us who don't want (or don't need) the boost.
  6. I'm starting to wonder whether it might actually be worth paying the exorbitant fee to transfer all of my characters to Shadowlands. At least whenever Shadowlands goes down, it's because all of the other servers are down too. Harbinger just dies at least once a month for no reason and has been doing so for a long time now.
  7. Pretty sure it's been said multiple times that switching your gender is a definite no. Given how the companion interaction and several parts of the class story quests are affected by your gender, allowing you to change your gender is a much, much bigger and more complicated process than simply adding the option to the Appearance Kiosk on the Fleet.
  8. Did you grab the breadcrumb quest on the Fleet? Or did you just immediately queue for the Flashpoints? Because the story is all in the surrounding quest rather than the FPs themselves, which are mostly just straight-up killing things. I do like where the story is going. I'm intrigued.
  9. Purple gear is, for the most part, endgame gear that comes with purple mods. You can then rip out the purple mods and put them in other purple or orange items if you wish to sport a different look with the same stats. Orange gear typically comes with either no mods at all, or occasionally with regular green mods. With identical mods, purple and orange gear is functionally identical (excluding implants and earpieces, which have no mods so none of them are orange). You would hate to see my gear. I'm wearing a mixture of orange and purple (with a blue earpiece and implants) and the orange is a mixture of regular, legacy, and cartel market stuff so the icons are all really mismatched. Personally, I don't care how my actual inventory looks as long as my gear appears to match from a purely visual standpoint.
  10. Uh, really? Next week, we're getting a new Warzone, a new Starfighter map, Nightmare Mode for Dread Fortress, and two new Flashpoints that will kick off a brand new storyline running throughout the rest of the year. Two months later, we're getting "the biggest update up to this point" according to the devs. Also, two more expansions this year, one of which will be at least on par with RotHC in terms of new content. Yeah, I guess you're right. They're clearly not focusing on playable content right now.
  11. Wookies can't speak Basic. That's one of the very few criteria that BioWare has actually stated plainly that is required for a race to be playable. Most of the other races mentioned in this thread have a FAR greater chance of being made playable some day.
  12. I'd like to join Population Control (and eventually Shock and Jawa once I get around to rolling a Republic character). Should I sign up on the website or /whisper in-game for an invite first?
  13. The devs have said many times in many places that if a species is not both humanoid and capable of speaking Basic, it will NEVER be playable. That means no Mon Calamari or Rodians. Devaronians and Nautolans will suffer from clipping issues, but are probably a possibility, as are Togruta. Voss are unlikely due to their voices needing to be heavily modulated or possibly even re-recorded for cutscenes.
  14. Finally got around to finishing Makeb on my 55 healing Sorcerer. It wasn't that hard once I learned the mechanics (then again, being a healer or having a healing companion makes this fight A LOT easier). I was wearing almost full Pristine Seeker gear (the rating 156 gear you used to buy for basic comms but is now given out in quest rewards on Oricon), so that helped a lot. Biggest advice I can give is to stay mobile. Don't stand in one place for long, and make use of the walls next to where the refueling droids spawn to get out of the line of fire and heal up. I used Static Barrier heavily to absorb a lot of damage, and Force Speed to escape the singularity and get away from his AoEs. The Isotope-5 rod only dropped once, so after using that I mostly just DPSed him down whenever I could, focusing on the refueling droids until he went into emergency recharge mode, then hitting him with everything I had while healing through the reflected damage. Again, the methods I used relied pretty heavily on being a healer, but I imagine it would be even easier with a healing comp as long as you either kill the refueling droids as fast as you can or keep your comp out of the way of the massive laser he fires if enough of those droids get to him.
  15. Sadly I missed out on this, as I only found out after it was over. Will this be a regular event or was it more of a one-time thing? I'd love to come to the next one if it happens again. I'm pretty sure the Fleet Datacron is the only one my Sorc doesn't have yet.
  16. I always find it funny when Sith characters have "Darth" as part of their name. Because then they get "Darth" as a title and, of course, use the title without changing their name. So there are quite a few "Darth Darth" characters running around. I almost want to make a character and legacy both named Darth, just so I can be "Darth Darth Darth"
  17. Actually, I have a question about that. I've only recently come back to SWTOR after several months off, and I was wondering if Harbinger stability is as bad as it used to be. Harbinger went down so often last Autumn that I was seriously considering shelling out the cash to transfer all of my characters over to Shadowlands.
  18. I'll probably work on my low-level Operative a bit. Although if I start severely outleveling my missions, I'll just go Datacron hunting with my level 55 Sorc instead.
  19. I'm an MMO "veteran." That's in quotation marks because despite the fact that I've played several MMOs over the past decade or so, I've never actually hit the level cap in any of them. Except in SWTOR. My level 55 Sorc is my first (and currently only) MMO character to ever reach a level cap. The XP is fine. Perhaps even too high. If you feel significantly under-leveled, you've probably skipped a rather sizable chunk of content during your rush to the cap. Just from doing all the side missions I could find and trying all of the heroics and flashpoints at least once (and usually just once), I hit 55 before I even went to Makeb. That's also with no PvP whatsoever.
  20. Same here. His passive health regen is so high that I can't beat him. If I'm not constantly attacking, his health regens to 100% within seconds. But if I am constantly attacking, my healing comp can't keep me alive on his own. Letting dps or tank companions go at him while I heal them doesn't work either. They can't damage him fast enough to counteract his passive regen.
  21. Chat was so screwed up shortly before the crash that I'm pretty sure I was seeing the Taris general chat while I was on Quesh. Come on EA, I don't care if you have to take the server down for an entire week or if you have to move the entire server to another machine, but could you please just FIX WHATEVER STUPID PROBLEM OUR SERVER HAS?!
  22. I thought this might have been fixed during the few months I was away from the game, but apparently not. Was anybody else having the usual issues shortly before the crash? (Chat weirdness, mail not working, etc.)
  23. You're posting your views specifically because you know people will disagree with them, and you're not backing up your opinions with any explanation despite the fact that the people arguing against you HAVE done so for their own arguments. You just keep insisting that you're right without bothering to actually convince anybody. Sounds like trolling to me. I have yet to see any kind of evidence to support your opinion that adding new classes will be more difficult later on than it is now. Why don't you explain WHY you hold this opinion, rather than calling us all idiots for not understanding where you got that idea.
