  1. Jedi Knight gets it healer pet late, so I'm pretty sure a good leveling spec is the wrong way to go, you want to start out in defense, until the healer opens up more options. You go with the Defense tree, but get DPS armor. It's entirely possible to level with the DPS specs, you just have to skip some of the fun and be ready to run away.
  2. Your kidding right? The spaceship is our housing, end of story, no one has been confused about this from before the game was released.
  3. Part of a MMO is the mutiplayer part, if everyone else might *** well be advanced script NPC's, due to how little you relate to them, then your kinda missing out. Pick a server, join the community.
  4. I think this thread got a bit messed up. Playing Trooper, is not just playing Trooper, one AC is a turret/healer and the other is a Tank/DPS setup, not to mention picking the right skills can change an AC from annoying to very fun. Jedi Guardian Defense spec, can really mess up the other sides day, same with Trooper Vanguard Hybrid Tank. Several specs require DoT management or you sit around waiting for procs to use your cool stuff. Those really annoy me.
  5. I've been grouped and heard other players companions, but it's not something I pay attention to, so I can't be sure if it's still working right this second. It shows in chat, so there is no way to miss that they said the line. The ones I've heard is the chatter they say when they trigger location stuff.
  6. The usual gamers fallicy... "Again, the fallacy is the belief that the "universe" somehow carries a memory of past results which tend to favor or disfavor future outcomes." It's a 20% chance each time you re an item, it's not a 20% chance of all your re attempts.
  7. You can friend same faction alts, so those at least will auto complete. And yeah it's a freaking big deal to type in names and double and triple check you aren't sending 10 million credits to the wrong name. I've been typing some of these names for 20 years, it still doesn't mean I can't mistype.
  8. Living is more than simply keeping your body alive one more day. If a person budget is effected by 15$ that person Quality of Life is statistically going to be lower than more well to do people. We might be talking the difference between watching paint dry or playing a game just to get a bit of enjoyment in ones day. That I personally think it's sad that "entertainment" has become the crutch that make many peoples lives bareable, doesn't change the fact it's how our society work at the moment.
  9. Just *sigh*, I have some 300 levels on chars, not a single one is 50, many 40+. I feel like an idiot for enjoying the good parts of the game and avoiding the 50 burnout by waiting until the game gets older and the 50's game get more fleshed out.
  10. Just like you have a need to eat, you have a need to be social. It used to be that people on the Internet and that was then attracted to these games had less of a social life and they where simply more hungry of interacting with others. But WoW changed the average gamer, now Mr or Miss Arvage has a spouse, kids, dogs, family, friends and their social is overfilled, they actually want PEACE away from socializing, but WoW brilliant way of putting things together made it Entertainment like watching TV attracting this horde of "zombie entertainment eaters". This has ruined grouping and there is nothing to do about it, if you FORCE these zombies to group they will be hostile to others and annoyed, just ruining grouping even more because it it's about that annoying guy that chewed you out for holding your phone wrong. Bioware might actually have made grouping better, because these people get their peace, so they just might have a little more energy for grouping.
  11. That has nothing to do with something being beta. BETA is about bugs, not features.
  12. Ops didn't work, doesn't need to be bug free, but game breaking stuff is not okay. But I'm not sure waiting would have helped in the case of ops, according to what Bioware said at the Guild Summit, they had made the mistake of not paying enough attention to ops and was doing team changes to fix it. Illum... that was simply naivety not bug issues, they thought people wouldn't exploit it to hell and back, they where proved wrong. Leveling worked fine, smashing peoples head in PvP was working, so except for Ops I can't really see anything wrong with 1.0 of SWTOR.
  13. And your argument is my top stupid counter argument. You simply don't get what we are dealing with here. Building a house in 1980 and is has kitchen, bathroom, roof, doors and windows. Build the same house in 2000 and it has kitchen, bathroom, roof, doors and windows. The 2000 house use advanced technology, so the windows and roof doesn't leak as much heat or the doors is harder to break open. Now the 1980 house has gotten expansions over the years, so now it has a garage a garden full of grown plants, etc. The 2000 can't in the same amount of time add a garage and it MOST definitely can't GROW a garden, like the old house had. Same with SWTOR, some of it's tech is better than what WoW has, some is the same, because we haven't INVENTED better ways to build houses since we invented conrete (that made it way faster) and the same for programming both in the MMO world and any other large scale enterprise dev project their is LIMITS to how fast our current level of technology can build stuff. A new Police case system, takes 5-10 years to develope and thats been the same for the past 20+ years, no one has been able to invent a way to develope things faster, they have taken how to open a door and polished it a bit or changed to smaller windows to let out less heat and stuff like that, but it still takes them X hours to install that window no matter it's size. Talking about 200-300m as going directly to development is so incredible stupid thinking, YOU CAN*T SIMPLY THROW MORE MONEY AT SOMETHING AND DEVELOPE FASTER. Most of that money went into Voice Over actors bank account, not developers. It's NOT POSSIBLE for two developers to sit and write half the lines of the same piece of code. PERIOD
  14. You don't really think that level 1 to 50 happens in the same second? The general guess is that their is 2 years between you login at level 1 and until you reach the end of your story.
  15. It's really sad when people can't tell the difference between the real world and a game. The word kill comes from the real world, in the real world there is no hit points, it doesn't matter that ten people beats someone up, it's still the knife in the hearth that kills them. So you have to be really really weird if you don't get that killing someone means removing their last hit point. Not whatever was done to them upto the point that they ended up with 0 hps.
  16. Always these clueless people. It's a KNOWN BUG that sometimes you get your COMPANIONS weapon. It happens on all classes, but very rarely.
  17. No it isn't called the Jesus Patch because it may save the game, it's called the Jesus patch because it WALKS ON WATER. Thats quite a different thing.
  18. I don't get it. We could also say WoW 1.0 should have been Catalyst or the stupid Mist expansion coming up. MMORPGS is never ever done, they keep evoking and and why is any set of features a better time to release than another time? The 1.0 we got was a really good release, sure things could be better, but it could be LOTRO (No game past 35) or Age of Conan (No game past the starter island), we got pretty much everything from level 1 to past level 50 at 1.0, we also got some bugs breaking parts of it, but at least it was in game thats more than many other titles. Biowares foundation seems really solid, only thing that really say oops is the loading screens, but then WoW has those too and I dislike them just the same in WoW, especially since you can't chat or anything while they are active.
  19. I dunno what game your playing, but using shift, alt, ctrl messes things up in the one I'm playing. I can't push mouse button four becuase shift + mouse button 4 is different than mouse button 4 and yes there is plenty of cases where I do one thing with my keyboard and another things with mouse buttons where the two actions would conflict if it's two buttons on the keyboard. At the moment I use 1-6, q-y, a-h and z-b, my hand isn't big enough for 6 and y though, I can't reach them without moving my hand. With space and tab thats around 25 keys, but I have double that number of abilities and features I want to use. Relics, healing pots, stims, Tab Target, Nearest Enemy, Center Target, Target of Target, Jump, Strafe, forward movement since we have mouse ground targeted abilities where I still want to be moving while I drop them on the ground. Using shift/ctrl/alt is fine for Mount up, cast my buff or other OUT OF COMBAT things, but the only way for things to work in combat when using mouse and keyboard at the same time, is by everything on keyboard being one key. 20 years of MMO's and this is the first time I've run out of keys and every freaking day I'm trying to find the holy grail to make room for things, but when you run out of slots on your hot bars, before you run out of abilities and start to have to scroll through the abilities menu to cast some stuff things is beyond insane. It's fine that some of you only play part of the game (PvP) where you don't need half the abilities since they don't work on players, but some of us play both PvE and PvP and I can't redo my bars every time I enter a WZ to redo them when I leave. Would be impossible to train anyway even if I could change bars on the fly.
  20. If this game engine was used to create Mass Effect Online I would play that too. But the question is idiotic, so much of the game mechanics is tied into the fact your a Jedi Knight or the world design ties into it being Star Wars, I doubt ME-O using the same engine would feel anything like this.
  21. Thats only true if 50's have enough activities to get XP from. Many of us can do more in a "day" than there is dailies for. So I would get XP for 50 dailies + XP for leveling.
  22. You got the numbers wrong, it only take 1 person out of four for you to be in a group with a douche. There is no way you can convince me that 85% of the people in the world is better of never to have existed. At most you can convince me that MMO's attract more of the bad people, but even then we are still not talking that out of the 2m+ people thats passed through SWTOR over 1m of them is worthless waste of space, to even think so is horrible. A small minority of players has made you decide 85% is bad and that is very sad.
  23. Your so clueless it hurts and your misinformation is downright criminal. I hire 1 programmer to write a basic program that prints "Hello, World". That programmer sits down and write 10 print "Hello, World" and it's over. Now I hire 10 people to write the same program, they need to hold meetings to coordinate, they need to buy or develope tools to allow each person to write part of that code. CLUE: Throwing more money at something DOES NOT CREATE MORE CODE it creates inefficiency. Bioware did not spend 3-4 times the budget on writing the game code, they might even have spend less for all we know, they spend a ton on cash on voice over, thats why VO isn't in every game it cost INSANE amount of cash to do it with high quality VO actors.
  24. A long time ago, but not in a galaxy far far away, the Internet was invented. At first it took a lot of tech knowledge to even be on this new things, so it attracted a group of people that was better with technology than people. Strangely enough that also meant those people got a long better with each other. Do you want to know why? Just like a human being needs to eat a human being as social hunger. (Look it up on google if you don't beleive it). Like eating you can be social enough to be filled up, but these early people tended to spend more time with tech than other people so their social need was seldom satisfied, so they where open to social interactions. As the tech requirement become smaller, larger groups of people came online at first it was home alone house wifes that had the same social hunger as the tech geeks, so everything was fine, but the net didn't stop growing and people who was less hungry for social interaction started to room on the net. Blizzard saw this and they saw this group of people had money, so they created a game called World of Warcraft that was created to attract this huge group of people, unfortunately since these people social needs was filled up in their every day life, they had no need to be nice to people outside their social circle. These people is someones best friend in real life, good husband/wife, loving parent, but they will be a complete dirt bag to a stranger. This has ruined grouping, maybe people will learn about this and stop letting "hunger" control there behavior, but it's 100's of years into the future before you will see a change. We may be the most advanced spicies on earth, but we are still a biological being and we are not yet in a situation where our brain control most peoples action.
