  1. Good interview, and glad you guys are finally getting localised servers. Still strikes me as weird that they seemed to be surprised how popular PvP would be... and that the word "interim" still gets banded round so much by Senior Devs.
  2. From my perspective, I have invested so much time into this game, both before and after launch. I have worked as a correspondent for one of the biggest TOR fansites and gone to shows, standing round the TOR booth interviewing and talking to the fans and BW staff. I got into Beta and levelled 2 50s. I've bought the Collector's Edition of the game. I've levelled 2 50s and have half a dozen alts on their way to 50 also. But I'm so bored of the game I am seriously considering going to GW2 when it launches, having never played GW1 and previously taking the piss out of people who told me that GW2 would rock my world.... What does that say about TOR? I couldn't have been any more of a fanboi beforehand, I also played WoW for many years in a Semi-hardcore raiding guild, so it's not like I get bored easily...
  3. Play a non-flawed PvP and Raid system... obviously.
  4. So you'll go back and do all the Sith side quests again and a third time? or you'll do the Republic side..... I have a 50 on both sides, and various alts strewn through the levels on both too.... I am burned out because once you have reached level 50, the only thing left to do is play a flawed PvP system, play a flawed raid system or go roll an alt and experience the class quests of the classes you haven't yet rolled, and guess what.... to do them, you also need to re-do all the same old planet side quests.... For the record I loved KOTOR and to a certain degree KOTOR 2. Difference is I don't have to pay a monthly sub to play it again and again.....
  5. I'm so bored with SWTOR, I'd give Hello Kitty Online a go if it was competitive....
  6. I've had that carrot for so long, I've started to develop Myxomatosis.
  7. Actually all that means is that SWTOR has a shelf life of about 200-250 hours, and then you get sick of it. You either play those hours at the start like a lot of people who are now bored to tears, or you do it piecemeal. You will still end up being bored, but a lot later on and desperately hoping the people in the former category are still playing!!
  8. This wasn't on the record, and it wasn't just "any" Bioware employee. However, I would be doing that person an injustice if I actually told you their name. Personally, I think the lack of a combat log is just another in a long line of reasons why this game should have been delayed further, but heh.
  9. That information came direct from a Bioware employee at the last fan site summit before release. Of course, that might not be the current reason they are withholding it now... However, I also agree with you that as soon as they release the logs, the amount of class QQ'ing that they are currently dealing with, will increase exponentially.
  10. I've only had the problem in Ilum, where there are bandwidth issues anyway, so I would think it is down to that. There was a similar problem in Space Combat during beta, but that was fixed.
  11. Yes there is a combat log, but it cannot currently handle multiple mobs with the same name. So for example you attack a group of 3 mobs all called Sith Marauder, and it will add all their damage together, so you would see one entry in the log saying Sith Marauder hit you for 300 damage, rather than 3 entries of 100 each... Great coding eh?
  12. The biggest issue was that the game levelled people too fast. For both my level 50 characters in Beta and the 2 50's in Live now, I hit the max almost at the beginning of Corellia, having missed a big chunk of a lot of the other planets too. It shouldn't have been possible to hit level 50 within the early access period, even with people playing 48-72 hours straight. If you follow the story properly and do each planet, you currently get out-levelled on Tatooine by a massive amount. Plus Space combat XP which if done daily is a massive boost, and then there is PvP, which should have no XP reward... Bioware shot themselves in the foot by making the game too short. It's now too late to fix it, and consequently a large number of 50s are bored to tears.
  13. Of course, all this depends on Bioware/EA actually telling the truth and not cooking figures to help their quarterly earnings reports and share price. But we all know this never happens..... (Lehman Brothers, Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac etc).
  14. I play PvP in two different situations, one with a group of 4 premade from my guild, and secondly solo when there's minimal guild activity and usually to complete my weekly/dailies. When I play in my group of 4, we play to win obviously but don't generally quit unless we come across something out of the ordinary (speed hacking or someone helping the other side etc). That said, we also usually win nearly all these games, as we are on Vent and know each other's game styles. If we do lose, this is normally due to the other 4 players on our side being very poor and/or a very good Republic side. When I play solo, I'm not looking for Valor, I'm looking for wins and this is fundamentally different to the premade mentality mostly due to Bioware's crappy reward system. I will leave a group if it gets steamrolled for the first 2 points in Huttball, or if we go 2 bases down in Alderaan or if we lose a gate instantly in Voidstar. I don't care if anyone hates that, because I've played more full games than I've left early due to my premade situation. Now the unfortunate thing is that the premades are getting less and less frequent (now about once a week) due to people leaving the game (and there has been around 30 people leave the game in my guild) or having reached BM rank, can't be bothered anymore. So I'm left to mostly solo, which means I will leave a lot of games. I suspect there are a lot of people in the same situation.
  15. I love the variety.... Quesh (Hutta) Coruscant (Nar Shaddaa) Balmorra (Ord Mantell) Hoth (Ilum) n.b. This post may be slightly sarcastic.
  16. No the tooltip says "Player Targets deal 30% less damage when attacking anyone other than you" Maybe you are mistaking this with Guard, which will transfer damage from the guarded target to yourself?
  17. Taunts do not increase damage on the caster. It's just reduced damage for the affected players attacking teammates, and normal damage on you.
  18. They don't. If a Guardian wants to do the 4-5k aoe crits he has to spec Focus, which then prevents him from taking most tanking talents. Also, to do the 4-5k crits he has to use Force Stasis beforehand, if you see him doing this (he will have to do this pretty close to the aoe attack), you know what he is going to do next.... If you don't know what he is going to do next, then you really need to get better at PvP.
  19. I don't think that's the case. My server has always been heavy loaded. I have noticed a massive lag in loading screens since 1.1 even to the point of last night, a Huttball loading screen taking so long, that I got kicked from the match due to afk.... You'll also notice that you get a loading screen within a loading screen now for most zone transitions. Can't be a coincidence.
  20. I was a 6 month subscriber until about 10 minutes ago. Why the change? Basically, because I just found out about the nerf to Ops and Scoundrels.... they are screwing around with class balance when there is no need (apart from appeasing the vocal minority who see good players pvp videos and assume that the class is overpowered). I had enough of this in WoW, and all it leads to is an ever-running saga of nerfing other classes to compensate. This game has the most balanced pvp classes I've ever seen. Literally every class has strengths and weaknesses that equalise nicely. (Yes, even Ops and Scoundrels, if you disagree, you haven't played either). This isn't an "I'm quitting" post, as I have only moved to a 1 month sub, and I'm also an active member in a well-known fan site guild, so I've invested far too much time to just quit, however, my faith in this game and Bioware has been been shaken.
  21. Took me around 100 RE attempts to get the Veracity version of the Powered Ultramesh Belt on Armormech. Got 2 other Purple schematics and 2 more times where it gave me duplicate recipes.
  22. Agent Dack Bauer. Just don't hit me with any Lightning/electricity, it's my achilles heel
  23. Sorry, let me be a little bit clearer on that. I sounded like I was beating my own drum... On the same HFPs using a similar-geared PT, Assassin and Juggernaut, it is the concensus of my guild healers that PT is miles in front in terms of mitigation. Thanks for the link to Georg's post, hadn't seen it.
  24. Only the non-avoided hits get shielded.... well that's a no-brainer..... What would be the point of shielding a dodge? The point is, if the attack gets through our defence, and lets face we've got bugger all defence mitigation compared to other tank classes, you are better off shielding and absorbing it than not... surely? My PT is currently sitting at ~12% defence, ~49% shield, ~46% absorb and ~51% armor. That's with some Columi, some Champion but also a few bits of moddable with epic mods concentrating on shield/absorb rating. My guildmates say I'm the easiest tank to heal through HFPs by a long way. We still don't know the full details of the roll system. Let's wait for combat logs before you waste time on spreadsheets.
