  1. On that attempt we had 2 sage healers, so I'm not sure. In the end the guild decided we needed to gear up before going back. I'm gearing up a dps set as well so I'll try them out for farm content. * 6-piece tanking bonus * Keeping harnessed shadows up * The guild has been attempting other hard modes and not gone back since. As it was some time ago now I don't have a parse (didn't have starparse installed at the time). I realise that just posting stats isn't going to be the most informative thing in the world but I wanted to get the basics confirmed first (am I gearing correctly? do I have, in theory, good enough gear that I should be able to tank this fight? etc). Being flattened so easily actually put me off tanking HM content (excluding EV and KP) but I forced myself back into DP SM (not HM still, but at least the same bosses) last night to get over this and cleared it with no problems. Thanks for the other points, especially about being pro-active with my cooldown usage. I'll keep them in mind when going back into tanking. I've seen a few shadow tanks saying about shrouded crusader, once I get more 220 gear I'll give it a try. Once I start getting 224 gear can I expect to have enough health from unettered mods to not need B ones and can try to meet the suggested defence rating again?
  2. Well, at least I know now that if I'm at around 30% for more than a second it might be a good time to use a cooldown. Ideally I won't be, but if it happens I can expect to get flattened. I'll stick with the B mods for now. Looking at my Defense rating still the only option I'm seeing it to trade out Bastion/Buwark for Immunity/Sturdiness, but that reduces my Endurance... I'll wait until I have a few more 224 pieces before looking into that. Thanks again for the advice.
  3. Cheers Gardimuer. Gear: I had been using a source that got it's information from that thread and I seem to be missing about 600 defense rating for 216 stats. All my mods are 43B (enhancements are Bulwark and Bastion 43), so need to hunt down a good source of 43 letterless (guessing these should be HM operations so I'll farm EV and KP). Fight: There were a couple of occasions where I was tanking more than 1 large add but the worst spike was when I went from around 30% to very low then dead. I didn't see any tentacles not being hit in melee range but perhaps there were.
  4. Tried Dread Palace Hard Mode Bestia tonight and noticed that the damage was pretty spiky (I know it often is for us, but seemed worse tonight). My tanking stats are: Defense: 2035 Absorb: 1353 Shield: 1234 Health: 84413 Armor Rating: 9653 (37.05% damage reduction vs same-level) Damage Reduction: 41.05% Defense Chance: 33.61% Shield Chance: 39.42% Shield Absorption: 47.82% Relics: Reactive Warding and Shield Amplification, both 216 versions What suggestions or advice does anyone have to reduce the spikiness? Should I reduce 1 stat in favor of another? Is it that my gear isn't ready for a fight like Bestia? Is it likely some mistake with my ability usage that's causing me to take such spikes? Constructive criticism welcome. Thanks in advance.
  5. Honestly I'm surprised this quest made it to live. Waves of enemies are very rarely fun and this definitely isn't one of the few cases where it is. With Quinn it becomes pretty easy (as most quests do when you have a healer backing you up) but I don't think it's a good idea to force people to use a specific companion or wait until you're above the intended level for the quest. Personally I hope they cut out the middle wave and make the last wave just the boss; that would keep the essence of the quest without making it too irritating / dull.
  6. I actually had the opposite experience. I started off playing my Warrior as Dark at every option until I got to the quest chain on Tatooine. During one of the quests (you'll know which one if you've done it) I changed to Light side but still had 5000 dark points. When I got to Jaesa she saw nothing but Darkness despite all the Light choices I'd made. I had her go Dark, went Dark again myself, and now am more evil than ever! In short: she saved me from fluffiness.
  7. 1. Find a level 50 Inquisitor (all Sorcerers and Assassins hate Darth Zash) 2. Go to your Preferences window, Social, tab, and activate Allow Access to Same Class Story Areas 3. Go to the temple on Dromund Kaas... 4. Enjoy watching Darth Zash die to someone who hates her more than you. Recently I was that level 50 Inquisitor, and it was fun killing her again.
  8. Sorcerer - Khem Val. As my first companion I felt a lot more comfortable having him around, plus he's awesome.
  9. All Adrenal effects last 15 seconds and have a 3 minute cooldown The choices are: * +1725 armor * +565 power * +565 crit * +565 alacrity * +565 surge * +565 accuracy * +565 force power and tech power, BUT all damage dealt is reduced by 50% I've glanced around this area of the forums, found nothing, and I'm stuck between power / surge / force-tech. Has there been any theorycrafting for which we should be using?
  10. If there is an additional incentive for raiding 16-mans (or it's more efficient to raid with 16 than 8) then 8-man guilds are 'forced' to raid 16-mans with another guild. If there is no incentive for raiding 16-mans (or it's equal to raidin 8-mans) then 16-man guilds are 'forced' to raid 8-mans because it's the path of least resistance for exactly the same end result. Even when you're raiding purely for fun you'll get annoyed at somebody who made a mistake and think "If we only took the 8 best we'd have floored this by now"... I can't see a balanced solution to be honest, besides only having 1 raid size. :/
  11. Once you leave Korriban your species isn't Human, Zabrak, Pureblood, Rattataki, Twi'lek or Cyborg. Your species is Sith. It's a shame, but that's how the game sees it.
  12. Best advice I can give is to start with the keys near to where your movement buttons are (I switched from WSAD to ESDF to let me use A as well) and expand out from there as you need to. In my case: Movement: ESDF First row: 1-6, Shift+1-6 Second row: Q,W,R,T,A,G,Z,X,C,V Third row: Shift+Q,W... Forth row: Ctrl+Q,W... I've played Mages, Warlocks and Elemental Shaman in WoW, and found the Sorcerer to be a good mix between the three. Some of the later class quests were difficult (the level 30 quest especially) but overall it was a very enjoyable character to level.
  13. You have stealth. That's all the reason I think anyone needs to hate the advanced class
  14. If there's an option to wade into a bloodbath then Kham Val will be very happy Also: the plus/minus changes are only applied when the conversation finishes, so: 1. Click the option you want to click and look at whether it's +/- Khem Val points 2a. If it's - : go back and pick something else 2b. If it's + or no change: continue the conversation Easy
  15. Khem Val has Dash, which is essentially the same thing as Xalek's Charge ('Leap') except that it lacks a stun. Personally I tried out Xalek when I got him, then went back to Khem Val after 2 trash packs. Being a sorcerer he's just more effective for my style of play.
  16. It's an Inquisitor skill rather than Assassin skill because you learn it before you make that choice. I suspect all Assassins still have the option to upgrade Force Lightning for the same reason: If you had it before choosing your path you can keep using it.
  17. Operatives / Scoundrels have the healing tree, Snipers / Gunslingers have 3 dps trees the same as Marauder / Sentinel.
  18. Some animations actually result in a different effect for the spell (Consular's Project has a delayed stun where the Inquisitor's Shock has no delay) so this would result in players being forced down a specific path depending on what they need / how they want to play. As of now the only difference Light/Dark can have is on the end-game armor you choose when whether you look dead or not; personally I think that's how it should stay.
  19. The peoblem is that, as far as efficiency is concerned, your crafting / farming character should have completed the final act of their story. Doing this is the only way for you to have 5 deployable companions.
  20. @AstralFire: Thanks for the reply, I'll keep it in mind when the time comes to roll republic
  21. I've recently finished levelling my Sith Inquisitor to 50 and I'm finishing off a few small things (like maxing all my companion's affection to get all their missions) before I give the Republic a try. I wanted to play as something familiar, but with differences, so I'm going to go Shadow Consular to my Sith Sorcerer. I've heard mixed comments about the story so, as players who're in it or completed it, what general things would you say you enjoyed about the consular story? As examples: The Sith Inquisitor has a lot of betrayal, ghosts, and ties to the dark counci, along with a fair chunk of opportunities to shock the people you meet along the way in very amusing conversations.
  22. I like to know if I'm doing something wrong, then I can improve myself by fixing it. Dps meters will allow me to do that, as well as (hopefully) compare myself to others using the equivalent of worldoflogs. Bring them on.
  23. You *can* tank and be a clicker. I don't think the majority of players who've tried keybindings would recommend it though.
