  1. Coming from someone who refers to themselves as "jedimaster" in their username, your cynicism doesn't hold much merit. Aside from that, it's a TV show budget, the directors have made it clear their refrain from using CGI because they are very much in favor of traditional practical effects, and I seriously doubt you could do much better. All that being said, it's way more than any Star Wars fan could have expected from a live-action sci-fi series. All in all, I am looking forward to seeing the live action version of Tython.
  2. This reply here is why "councils" are a waste in MMOs because it always leads to some kid thumbing their nose at those they deem lesser than them. I don't acknowledge this fictitious and arrogant "council". You're welcome.
  3. I don't mind the concept of a reputation system. However, I do not like the faction choices available to earn reputation for. Never mind the fact that SWTOR still needs a third playable faction to make any faction system viable and balanced.
  4. Most of the novels in the EU aren't even considered canon and that pic is not proof of anything except that the person knows how to crop.
  5. I love how so many are willing to jump on the BW bandwagon and flame anyone who questions their mechanics instead of recognizing how poorly developed SWTOR's pvp is compared to any mmo past and present included.
  6. The only person making an assumption is you because I very specifically was referring to current generation soloers and most certainly was not referring to soloers in general and definitely not 15 yr gaming veterans.
  7. It really is sad that so few could post anything other than trolling and/or flaming comments and little to nothing constructive. I had hoped the forums hadn't been completely overrun by trolls yet, but I was mistaken apparently.
  8. It is too bad some gamers just can't accept what is conventional knowledge when it comes to something as simple as color crystals. If BW isn't able to maintain the uniqueness that is a part of light and dark factions then I won't have a problem spending my money elsewhere because by that point it isn't Star Wars anymore. On the same note the same can be said if BW maintains the uniqueness. Then those who whine about wanting to use lightside colors on an empire character should follow the same path.
  9. It wouldn't be as bad if BW allowed a player to chose which warzone they want to use. But in the near future even after BW adds the option of chosing, they are still going to force all gamers to fight eachother since they plan to make all warzones the same as Huttball in regards to same-faction fighting. Like I said, it makes no sense for BW to have gone on so long about how important their story is in SWTOR to just chuck it out the window only because they didn't make the factions balanced.
  10. BW from day one has gone on and on about how important story is in SWTOR, yet they have no problems not only contradicting SW lore but their own lore in the process by being lazy in their design of pvp in allowing same-faction members to fight eachother. There is no valid reason why during a war of all things that faction members would fight eachother. I know Huttball has been around a couple months now, but BW's crazy idea of working on yet another pvp warzone with the same mechanics as Huttball is ridiculous. To make things even more of a joke, BW has said that it is possible all of the warzones will use the same mechanic in allowing same-faction members to fight eachother. I don't expect all of the gamers here to understand this, but video games are considered to be the future of our culture's historical medium, much like books were through much of the 18-19th century and movies in the 20th century. So I find it disturbing that BW is so non-chalant to want to play a part in encouraging others' view of our society as self-destructive and barbaric. Because that is what it implies if faction members fight eachother.
  11. It is one thing for BW to make up their own canon due it being the old republic. However, allowing the use of class-restricted abilities to other classes is insane. Why even bother creating a Star Wars mmo if they are going to shape it into something that in 5 years time will be hardly recognizable as anything to do with Star Wars? I didn't post this to be persuaded into believing otherwise, so I could care less who flames the thread. I am posting this to give my personal feedback on the topic. That is what the sole purpose of the forums is for anyhow. metrics. I pre-ordered the CE the same day it was announced, but if BW actually goes through with force-choking smugglers and flame-throwing sith then I personally don't have a problem spending my money elsewhere.
  12. Unfortunately, the OP has observed something that is becoming a norm in this current generation of mmo's. There is an increase of "instant-gratification" gamers who have no patience for social interaction, let alone working with anyone else that doesn't satisfy their own needs. While it does help to find the right guild, it does not excuse the bad netiquette of many in the gaming community. The only thing that can reverse the change is to be vocal about disliking rude manners online basically. The more gamers speak up, the more it will influence others. Otherwise, if gamers remain silent and let the rude generation carry on the way they do, it will only worsen the bad image gamers are viewed as in general by others. I bring that up because it is those poor attitudes that aid many senate politicians in trying to use as evidence while working to make a case for regulating video game content.
  13. I agree 100% with the OP about color crystals and their restrictions to either light or dark. BW needs to stop trying to see how far they can bend the SW canon just to make a quick buck to satisfy whining non-SW fans. If said players don't like Star Wars lore, then they should just deal with it or play a non-Star Wars game.
  14. LizardSF, being facetious doesn't strengthen your argument. My point was only paraphrasing directly from an interview with George Lucas by Star Wars Insider in 1994. But being that you insist on being rude, I'll post the quote here and you can go pull it up yourself if you want to read the whole interview. "When it comes to absolute canon, the real story of Star Wars, you must turn to the films themselves — and only the films."
  15. As far as canon goes, Lucas has said time and again the only thing he officially recognizes as canon are the movies and there are no smugglers who force choke in the movies. Players need to stop trying to make Star Wars into something that isn't Star Wars. If players don't like the way canon is they shouldn't bother with it.
  16. There is a reason, canon is what it is. It's called consistency and big fans of any genre whether it is football or star wars rely on consistency of the lore. Non-Force users don't pick up Force choke like it's some weekend art class.
  17. The RP topic discussed in the panel was a joke basically. Given the amount of technology other mmo's have used in the recent years, it really is sad that a company like BW can't compare and seem to be really lazy about their efforts.
  18. I couldn't agree more with the previous poster. Time and again the devs really seem to cater to the very impatient pvp, end-game elitist, whining jerks. Those same impatient jerks who consistently complain about there being no end-game content for them since they rushed to level cap in less than two weeks. RP'rs have a history of enjoying the journey to level cap and experiencing the content in the process. Yet, BW keeps catering to the previous lot...it makes no sense. It makes no sense because those impatient types are the gamers that will get burned out and abandon SWTOR long before a RP'r will. However, in the long run, if BW wants to turn SWTOR into a pvp lobby mog, then there are plenty of other RP-supportive mmo's on the horizon.
  19. I did during early access and when the game launched, but being a parent and full-time college student doesn't allow for being online as long as my friends are. So as a result they out-leveled me and are too high level to group now without causing a XP penalty.
  20. No one said anything about spamming anything.
  21. Another thing that makes it hard to gain social points is half of the time when I do manage to get into a group, they disband after completion without bothering to wait and do the group turn-in for the social points I was after to start with. I have even seen some join a group; then on the way to the meet-up they pass by a mission npc, grab an additional new mission and space-bar through it without waiting for anyone to join the conversation even.
  22. It's been officially stated that you do get more xp in a group. It's not a guess.
  23. Sorry I didn't post which server I'm on. I'm on Sanctum of the Exalted. A RP server but seemingly a poor one at that so far.
  24. I am curious as to how other players are gaining social points to be able to use the social vendors? So far it has been like pulling teeth trying to get a group with any guild members.I try general chat of course nut it nearly never works for me especially when I am the only person in the "who" list that has a LFG tag on any planet. It is really blowing my mind how few people group together it seems when; A) It's an RP server, B)Players get increased XP in a group versus soloing, and C)Only way to get access to social vendor items is via social points gained from grouping.
