[No AOE for HK-51?]

I find HK-51's one shot ability for strong (silver) NPC's quite useful, although it takes a bit too long to happen IMHO.

[Prospects for server merges for BG]

I agree with AnitaNC. BioWare should never merge an RP server with a PvE server. Not to say a merger with The Ebon Hawk would be out of the question however. That would just be a matter of eliminating RP servers for eastern U.S. and western U.S. and making one RP server for all of U.S. I'm not sure I would want to go thru another mandatory server merge though.

[How do I demonstrate my legacy?]

You must complete chapter 2 of a character's class quest before you will be able to "demonstrate legacy" on that character or other characters. Open up your legacy window and you will see the emote commands listed in the pop-up window that appears when you mouse over the first of the 3 boxes. For example, /trooper is the demonstrate legacy emote for the trooper class.

No, you cannot alter your ship droid's affection rating. During the first few days of early access I tried giving my ship droid one of each type of level 1 gift and got zero affection points every time. So save your time and creds and just use your ship droid for less important tasks.
