  1. This. PvP is in a bad place right now - the worst its been since shortly after launch. With WoW Legion just around the corner offering a far superior pvp experience, I am guessing the majority have gone back there to check it out. Or just given up completely on Bioware getting their act together.
  2. Roll a toon on Harb and see how you get on. But I would probably hold fire until Bioware wake up from their deep summer sleep and announce server mergers or that mentioned 'better than cross server' - which was mumbled almost 2 years ago.
  3. No problem. I followed development of this game closely - attended closed door hands on events and more, as I had a very close relationship with LucasArts. Their vision of the final game was exciting and yes, developers have one idea and PR/Marketing have another. That's the nature of the gaming industry but when both are synced heading toward the same goal, I knew that SWTOR was going offer something different. Everyone is saying how surprised they are that the game has lasted 5 years but when you buy a 10 year licence, you have to see that out, no matter how much pain you suffer, or pay an exit fee, which would be hugely damaging to both brands - so I imagine that 'exit' fee would be substantial. But SWTOR is heading to that 10 year mark soon, (10 years includes development time) and given just how bad 2016 has been I will be surprised if they extend it, unless that is tied into the EA contract for bringing us below average SW games for a decade.
  4. Says the person who doesn't back up his baseless facts. The game SOLD 2m copies. However for some weird reason only 1.7m actually installed it to play To quote the story Perhaps most interestingly to players, however, is the fact that EA has reported sales of more than 2 million units of The Old Republic with about 1.7 million subscribers By February, there were only 1m subscribers - which INCLUDED trial players then by July, another 400k left. The truth is, no one really knows since EA hid the sub numbers within trial player accounts before the long summer of silence (a Bioware trademark) until October when f2p launched. And yes you can blame EA. It was their 2nd chance at taking on Blizzard in the only market they haven't had a hit game in - MMOs. After they purchased Mythic and forced them to push Warhammer out unfinished, they did exactly the same with SWTOR. This was their original vision - I know - I actually interviewed Jake Neri who was producer at LucasArts before the dark times. My favourite line will always be James O telling everything how un heroic it was to have scores of players beating down on 1 boss and that SWTOR wouldn't be like that.
  5. The 'f2p' model was punishment to players for hating their game in the first place. 4 years on from the launch of f2p, they still haven't discovered that if you lock content behind paywalls, no one will buy it.
  6. The game was released too early. EA didn't learn from their Warhammer mistakes. Remember - Bioware wasn't owned by EA during the time SWTOR was born. It was being led by LucasArts until EA took over everything, blinked - and wanted to cash in for year end financials. When over 800k leave your game in just 30 days(from 2m sales) followed by another 400k by the start of the summer, there's a serious problem.
  7. Same. I just wished I saw his review before I purchased Rome 2! But - he spent some time with Sega and their Warhammer TW game, but oddly enough he hasn't reviewed it so I am guessing he didn't like and can't talk about it. But with more publishers moving to streamers/youtube to promote their games - its gonna open up a whole new can of worms.
  8. It could have been worse. Imagine if they had the bubble stun that could be passed to ALL players in your team?! *shudder* Hell knows why Sorcs have been FotD(flavour of the decade) but I guess its probably the only class the devs used to play on their stream.
  9. Nope its the engine. The UI is clunky too, although they have claimed to have improved it. I remember putting a ton of stuff on timers in my cargo bay and my frame rate dropped like a stone when trying to open it. An SSD drive will help improve load times of levels and other things and this game is more CPU intensive.
  10. Can the game ever recover? No. Look at the empty servers. And this comes AFTER the release of a hugely successful Star Wars movie. SWTOR has spent the past 12 months trying to be a single player story experience and it fell flat on its face. There was a time when the developers actually put some love in their updates, spent time giving us value for money Cartel Packs - but now this game is just a cash grab with endless reskins and crap fillers in Cartel packs, no actual new content for over 18 months and a story where they claimed 'choices matter'. I've just returned to WoW after 5 years away and although their Invasions are almost a copy/paste of Rifts erm Rifts - there's huge groups all doing the content together. Imagine if Bioware had a creative gene in their blood stream - imagine how much fun it would have been to see starting planets like DK & Coruscant raided by Arcan and his endless Skytroopers? Imagine people banding together - Imperial and Republic to try and defeat their common enemy, to gain cool rewards, XP and other goodies. Over history, there's only 2 MMOs that have managed to increase their subscriber base over its original launch - that is WoW and EvE. And with Biowares yearly promise of 'better communication and transparency' - is it any wonder people are fed up and left? We just want a better experience because this is supposed to be Star Wars, its just a shame the Devs can't see that too.
  11. You should NEVER trust reviews from the likes of IGN & Gamespot. Their entire review process is based on how much money the company gives them in terms of advertising revenue, in exchange for a good review score. At launch, EA gave PC Gamer a ton of cash to a) do a huge feature b) make a guild in the game - they did both and what a surprise, they gave this game 93%. They hand out 90+ scores to any unfinished game that throws money at them. If you are needing proof - just search out Kane & Lynch, Eidos & Gamespot NEVER trust a review - its the age we live in.
  12. Won't happen as its just far too late now. SWTOR now finds itself as the only 'MMO' not to feature some sort of cross server functionality. To the OP - Harbinger which is west coast is your best bet. I would also check Shadowlands which is east coast but both are hardly what you would call 'populated' but it is an active server.
  13. Are you really surprised? Especially after the first encounter when he cries 'Don't touch me!'. I couldn't make it past chapter 9 - 2 times, as my brain just couldn't take any more boredom. That was mostly brought on knowing that choices don't matter and no matter what you do, there will be a scripted outcome that you have zero control over. Pointless.
  14. Unless there's a name purge (LOL), they won't do anything to help. During the yawn fest DvL, you're better off rolling on a new server and transferring over.
  15. Try logging directly into your account area and adding coins from there. It should auto update to your local currency. If not, its probably yet another bug in and endless list of bugs
  16. The clue is in the Score card. I was in a game where they had 5 for the first round and 6 - yes SIX - for the 2nd. Thankfully, we beat them both times. When your enemy has more than 4 players, you wont be able to see their names and a funny icon appears. This happens because Bioware don't play their own game, let alone test it. And - you don't need to balance Arena for 'story'.
  17. I wasn't. I was comparing SWG - which had many key game elements such as live events back in 2003 to SWTOR, which has none. I haven't played wow for almost 5 years but the changes to pvp are very appealing and much more fun that SWTOR - which is a shame but PvP is now on life support thanks to the endless bad decisions made over the past 4 years.
  18. Did they show the mount? What's it a reskin of? Walker? Rancor? Or worse - that subscriber 'reward' mount?
  19. That's not what I said. 4v4 is a mess. It's a mess because Bioware have made zero attempts to balance combat. Then, throw in lack of class balance(4 stealth in 1 game for example - but this could have changed as I haven't done arena after day 1 of them arriving due to lack of balance). Face facts - Bioware are not going to balance combat, unless they wake up and do their jobs. As for 8v8s, they WERE popular. Infact - when server transfers launched, the majority of pvp'ers (EU) transferred to Tofn to take part in 8v8 ranked. Then Bioware had yet another brilliant idea and removed 8v8 and over night, 80% of the pvp player base left with it. Bioware still hate the pvp community for not adopting the Cartel Coined GSF so its like punishment and payback.
  20. According to James Ohlen, SWTOR is an MMO. Clearly he hasn't played his own game. After watching the EA Star Wars thing during celebration, there's poor James taking credit for Biowares hard work - pre EA and trying to drum up business for this awful attempt at 'net flix' in gaming. After saying just how important the single player experience is/was, Amy - who is working on the unannounced SW game - says how important group work is and that in Star Wars, small groups work together and against the odds. It's amusing to watch. I only made it to Chapter 9 x2 as I just couldn't force myself to spend 30 minutes watching cut scenes, followed by the pointless fetch quests or companion hunt or worse - endless Sky troopers grouped in 3's (still feel heroic?!!) who are as sharp as a bag of wet hair. The fact 95% of the servers are all but dead confirms this was a huge mistake and its time Bioware got off their backside and either delivered a proper expansion or just shut the game down. Just look at WoW Legion. THAT'S an expansion worthy of a subscription - live in game events with the Invasions (same as in Rift, or in SWG back in 2003!!!) This game needs Rogue One, heroic content where you can group with friends and defend a city, or obtain plans for the Sith's secret weapon - stuff with purpose and meaning. Over the past 3 years, the standards have hit rock bottom, the Cartel Market offers no value - just endless reskinned crap or armour designed by the 3 blind mice. For those foolish enough to play and pay for Kotfe, do you really think 30-60 minutes tops a month x7 was value for money? $70 for an expansion with zero replay value. Bargain.
  21. LMAO. It was simply there to fill the void in content. I bet you thought 'choices mattered' too?
  22. Eric said that they can't due to the fact theres no cartel coin value in pvp. (or in other words - they don't have the man power). I said it 3 years ago that Bioware needed to stop slapping plasters on its broken mess and deliver the cross server they PROMISED at 1.4 Sadly, it's now too late with a tiny player base and even smaller pvp base, cross faction still wont address the overall issue.
  23. Because in 4v4 - unbalanced teams and lack of class balance are spread a bit more evenly in 8v8 - plus better tactics come into play. 4v4 is just a mess and worse, outside of ranked. But 4v4 is just so popular, which is why it hardly pops.
  24. Actually he isn't. Thanks to a tiny player base, you can run into the same group 2-3 times in a row who run heals and tanks. Most of them will be a pre-made and they get first bite at any Q pop. Just remember, you don't need balance for 'story'. They haven't balanced pvp for 2 years and its probably at its worst state ever - even worse than the dot combat system introduced when Shadows of Bug fest dropped.
  25. you could google it. its around 11pm but google it, then work out the difference in your time zone
