  1. I totally get that some people like arena - that's why we have ranked. And that's where ALL arena should be. ranked/unranked and let those who wish to do just 8v8, get on with it - with 2 queue system. Choices matter - unless you pvp.

I just find it staggering after all these years, this forum is littered with the same debates around pvp that Bioware have and will continue to ignore until the day the servers are switched off.

I'd rather watch The Last Jedi again than play arena

  2. I fully support your right to leave whatever map you don't like. but...

I really don't understand why ppl whine and complain about arenas in regs. (well, I get it now that losses don't count toward your quests). an arena that is a blowout lasts 2 rounds and you spend more time waiting for the gates to drop than fighting. an arena that's a close match will go 3 rounds. but let's say some stealth decides to troll you and extends every round to gas. it's STILL faster than your average WZ. if you're going to be "forced" (heh. SW puns!) to do content you don't like, arenas have to be the quickest (thus least painful) of anything I've come across in this game.

also, they supposedly only pop when there aren't enough players in queue, so you're not missing out on a WZ b/c you popped an arena. fwiw

wow. this place hasn't changed at all. same complaints. same explanations. slightly different names. ah SWTOR!

Probably because on my main account, I've started a handful of games 3v4, or one even 2v4 because someone bailed - and one on team they had a couple healers, we had none. It's called balance. Much like your comment moaning about people who complain about the arena, it's hard to think that Arena still has no kind of balance in place.

It was a crap game mode when it was introduced and even more so now because players are forced to play a mode that no one wanted. And if arena didn't exist, then there would be more players for 8v8.

  3. Arenas! If things couldnt get any worse - Bioware now tell us how to play the game by forcing time outs if you dare quit yet another bad decision choice - Arenas, or a recent map that is nothing but shocking for pvp.

Is this really what its come down to? Put Arena in their own Q or with ranked - end of debate. Or in 2021, allow players to chose? After all, in SWTOR choices matter - unless you pvp.

  4. 2 weeks ago, I would send one of my team on a Slicing level 11 Lockboxes crew skill. A normally yield would be 3 locked boxes and a crafting mission.

However, since Thursday, I am getting just one locked box - I even switch between 2 of my team who are Level 50 influence. Just curious if anyone else noticed this change, especially as it impacts how much Jawa scrap is returned.

  5. I don't 'need tips' on gearing thank you. Is it any wonder Bioware continue to make this silly decisions when people like you just defend them? If you can't see what's wrong with a so called daily mission that hasn't been completed after 7 days of trying, then you are just a fanboy.

The fact that the Steam numbers have dropped like a stone just barely 4 weeks after launch speaks volumes that so many of their decisions block some enjoyment people wish to have, should they decide to play casually in PvP.

  6. It's yet another terrible idea to add to the long growing list of terrible ideas surrounding PvP. I've just returned after almost 4 years away and normally just PvP.

When news broke that there would be no Warzone selection, I left as I was sick to the back teeth of playing Arena. There's a place for Arena - and that is ranked, so it makes sense to pair unranked and ranked Arena together, with an option to Q .

Common sense (sorry to use that dirty word on you Bioware), would say to have a deserter buff start once the warzone count down has begun. Not immediately. Not everyone likes Arena, or other dreadfully designed maps in 8v8, so according to Bioware - choice matters - unless you PvP.

I had a level 10 toon, who picked up the new daily and at 17, I still had the same mission. I hadn't won a single game, from almost 19 straight losses. I won't be hanging around wasting time, as the gear you do get for a 'win' is useless, as its level 10.

Don't even get me started on the weekly - that I have renamed to the 'monthly' warzone mission as it will take a full month for the casual player to even get close to 10 wins. Subscription runs out in 15 days and I won't be returning again and the reason is simple - Bioware never have and never will understand PvP.

  7. I am asking this because bioware made so many things right, but it failed to have the succes EA expected.

Just thinking about the none force user. I was really woried about how they could make a class like the imperial agent beeing fun compared to a sith. But IMO they have totaly nailed it. operative is one of the funiest class to play in he MMO genre IMO.

The voice narated quest are just killing it.

The gameplay is fluid wich is a big selling point that many MMO failed.

The only big problem that I can think of is about the game engine.

Shadow had to be turned off upon lunching and well the graphic where pretty meh.

Do you guys can think of something else ?

I think Bioware themselves are one of the reasons why this game has limited success. Their decision making process has been staggering over the years, changing things that didn't need changing, ignoring things that did and that is essentially the history of this game.

  8. I actually returned to the game after 4 years away with the Steam release and subscribed. But I probably won't be renewing after the changes to PvP.

I hate arenas and now those in regs are forced to either play the hand they are dealt(arena, or worse Odesson) or face a 15 minute time out, after waiting 5-10 minutes for a pop. The SENSIBLE (sorry to use that word on you Bioware) thing to have done, would be to have the 15 minute penalty activate once the countdown to battle begins. That would give people a chance to leave the pvp map they don't like before battle commenced - and we all have maps we can't stand.

It's laughable that after 9 years PvP is in a worse state than ever and I was hoping it at least would have had warzone selections as it was rumoured to be coming.

    Such a shame

  9. Anyway when bw and ea were creating this game they made a terrible mistake - they made empire side look strong and cool, brutal while republic is bleak and weak so now we see consequences and republic side became terrible in pvp people are playing it only for pve and we already dont have faction fights because there is no reps left for pvp and allmost all fights are imps vs imps and thats one of the reasons why people are leaving the game (no one will play one faction game). Cross faction would change the situation

The Imps have their fair share of bads in PvP - its not just the Reps. Due to the lack of faction balance, the 'story' has taken its current path where both Imps and Reps 'work together' to defeat a common enemy.

Back in the day, both factions had a strong showing in PvP and it was super fun with Reps always being a bit more co-ordinated, especially on maps like Huttball.

As I said about, Eric was asked in that Snave interview if they are going to/can do more cross faction but its too difficult to do on most maps (I think only Huttball and Civil War are the options) but I guess this is what happens when you don't plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail.

  10. Its the game music probably. If YouTube gets a hint of the SW sound track or music from the movies, it will automatically slap a copyright on it. In most cases, you can still have your video live, it just means LucasFilm or whoever is claiming the copyright will make money from adverts shown, and get access to data on how many views that video gets etc.

HERE is a YouTube channel where you can download copyright free music to play in your videos.

With your current videos, remove the music and upload them again.

Here is an example of a copyright on a SW Battlefront video I posted

  11. does anybody get more then 30fps in war zones? Is it the game engine?

SWTOR is heavy on your cpu - NOT graphics cards. Turn down or off your shadows which will help performance. Yes, the engine is awful but the problems most stem from the game UI. Its 85% cause of the problems in this game. Clunky by design, clunky by nature - and this despite recent attempts to improve it.

And yes, give your PC a clean up but be careful!

  12. I think it would only be fair if you would make HK-55 available in cartel market for people who couldn't or weren't subscribed on January 11th 2016 instead of making it seem like a punishment for the people who weren't subscribed.

Why on earth? I saw it more of a punishment than a 'reward'. But this is Bioware and Cartel coins talk, so they probably will reskin it and call it HK-65 or something when the 'HK' Cartel packs drop

  13. Thank you for the help :) I will check out the servers that I've read about. And thats a shame about the lowbie pvp sets at 20 and 40, I loved the way they looked

I would take a look on the GTN for any armour sets you liked the look of. Bioware have managed to reskin almost everything 500 times so theres a good chance its on sale under a different name.

If you do the lowbie pvp quest when you ding level 10, on completion you will be awarded a full set of relics and implants - which were always hard to get early days for lowbies. Earpieces now also start at level 10. So you can have 1936 expertise in a blink.

  14. We don't need any more maps after the godawful Odesson. That took years to arrive too!

The current maps needed mechanical changes and have Civil War work more like Novare coast - instead of when team caps 2 nodes and reaches 400 points, the game is essentially over and players just exit(or even once 2 nodes are capped!).

Bioware don't pvp - never have and never will and since they can't Cartel Coin PvP, they have no interest in it.

  15. There's tons of videos, guides, 'how to pvp' stuff - truth is, players are just too lazy. I've played on the Harb for pvp, and it is probably the worst server I have ever played on in any MMO I've ever played for pvp standards.

You have rock bottom - then you have Harb. 7 players rush to cap a pylon, ALL of them leave it unguarded. The same goes for civil war. You can call for help 8,9,10 times - nada. Because your team - all 7 of them are too busy chasing ONE player in Voidstar, on the other side of the fence.

Huttball - where passing the ball icon has been removed by default for 99% of players.

^ all that is 65 pvp too.

When I wanted to become a better PvP'er in this game, guides and videos were few and far between but I managed to find some. However, PvP is about common sense and unfortunately, its the key ingredient missing from many players there.

  16. Hello, I've come back from a long break and my once big server "POT5" is now dead with me being the only imp online the fleet a lot of nights.

What is the highest pop east coast server?

Where is the lowbie pvp vendor?

Why does it look like I can do any dungeon at all in group finder?

    Thanks for the help

Shadowlands is probably your best bet. 90% of servers are now dead, with the few players left transferring when server transfers cost 90cc.

There is now no lowbie pvp vendor as such - they only sell weapons. Expertise is no longer a requirement for lowbie pvp. You just need to fill all your slots to max expertise at 1936 and when you reach lvl 65, its 2018 with full expertise armour.

Also, there's now no limit on warzone coms (200k), so if you manage to actually get a pop for pvp, you can save up your coms for a full set of gear.

With the DvL event, you could reroll on a new server and see what suits your time of play prior to doing a full transfer.

  17. I wish BW had the same passion as Yoshi Dev Team to give this game the same treatment. I mean there game oozes "we want this to be awesome for our players/fans" while SWTOR oozes "give us money, give us money, can i have monies naow??? U buy coins, buy coins now! "

/sigh. So much potential, its one of the frustrating things about MMO's.. when you see the potential, but the resources and heart just isn't there.

Which sums up how the majority of players feel about this game. I simply can't understand their design & decision making process outside of 'what can we make cartel coins from'? discussion.

  18. Whatever license they made at the beginning, it would seem is different now:

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-20-eas-star-wars-game-deal-lasts-a-decade

Unless you're talking about some kind of license specific to the relationship between BW and EA? Then I don't know.

But it would seem SWTOR's future is more contingent on EA calling it profitable than anything else. If they decide they want to take it down and pave the way for some other title, I'm not sure BW can do anything about it. EA is the one who has the contract with Disney, so they'd have the power, I would think, and that contract currently goes to 2023 for SW games.

What I am saying is, that the original licence was between LucasArts & Bioware pre-take over. EA stepped in, purchased Bioware and naturally took over all their IPs and licence deals. EAs new deal would depend if they included SWTOR or not.

Personally I doubt it SWTOR is in that new 10 year deal for SW games, given the history and just how bad 2016 has been for the game and given that Bioware were handed a huge budget from the EA 'Star Wars Battle chest' to fund these ridiculous chapter updates and promote the game during the SW: TFA hype.

When SOE licence was running out for SWG, they renewed every couple of years until EA demanded it be shut down prior to SWTOR going live - so although SOE wanted to renew the licence, LucasArts said 'no'. This was all pre-Disney too!
