Yeah sorry I'm not being clear. I was responding to the statement that "7.0 pvp is the worst its been no matter what style you play" by pointing out that OP classes especially when they stack, no matter what version of the game you play in, makes the pvp miserable at times. So my argument would be in 5.0 when merc was beyond broken could be compared to many matches you would experience right now. In 6.0 you could say that skank jugg/Guardian with greet teeth and force bound with a merc heals and a couple lightning sorcs could be the most annoying thing you've ever seen in the game. So there's always a meta there to be abused by those willing to do so. Difference being now instead of facing 4 doods who want to exploit what's broken in game now u can face 8 of them 😂😂

Good points all around. A limit to specs would be ideal but impossible to sync with their current system & it work out well.

  2. Galactic Seasons are not enjoyable, rewards are lackluster or of little value. Subscriber Track same deal obvious.

    Dead silent about PvP.

No updates on class balance issues.

Glad you're adding Thrawn stuff, nice to have something to praise you guys about. Actually releasing cosmetics on time with SW events has been something we've been wanting to see awhile now consistently so... Improvement there.

UI changes are always concerning given the history for breaking things in the process.

I just want you guys to do what other good devs do and release a nice healthy looking update every once n awhile. I have never seen one from this game in the few years I've been playing.

Good example is look at Larian's response to the negativity over the ending content. They admitted fans wanted more & are addressing it. They're already on their second Patch of fixing problems.

You guys did that sort of honest work, we'd be ecstatic.

Meh I don't agree. I think 5.0 was just as bad because merc stacking and the insanely overpowered net made for some miserable matches.

Sure, but people still played it & had a chance at solo q's, people still dueled often, there were active communities to teach people how to pvp, etc.

It might have been worse on a balancing aspect but not in every single category. Not to mention you see a large excess of mercs & juggs for similar reasons, being overpowered.

  4. PvP is active mostly on Tuesdays due to poor Dev changes killing the game mode & adding in the battle pass.

You can get active Qs on Starforge but the changes have basically destroyed all casual play & solo is just rough as you'll almost always get the crappy team. You will be at a significant disadvantage as most Q in groups now to try & have some level of enjoyment still.

But PvP has been downright abandoned at this point. For YEARS the complaint has been the same: Get rid of Huttball, add a 8v8 deathmatch, add more levels, stop breaking the balance every patch cycle.

7.0 era PvP is legitimately the worst its ever been no matter what style you play. We're heading in the absolute wrong direction. And we get no feedback on it at all.

This game has  had so much potential.

    Fixed ya title 🤪

Aye, it had everything you needed to be the top tier MMO experience, initial devs gave such a good base game to build on.

But potential only counts for so much, then you add in the current Devs literally sabotaged the game in 7.0.

Just have to accept that it was wasted & they have had zero accountability which is the only thing that ever gives potential hope to thrive.

  6. Not saying anything most of us haven't felt at one point or another.

Let it out man, we're right there with you. 7.0 was the first expansion I've ever played where people were rejoicing it was delayed so that they had more time to enjoy a good version before the downgrade.

The game feels empty right now & its understandable to be frustrated. All we can do is hope something changes to steer the ship back towards some semblance of what it was.

Any news that comes from anyone on staff, including Keith, Eric, Jackie, you name it, should be taken it with a grain of salt, it's all PR.

Legitimately the main issue IMO. Trust has been eroded down to nothing for long term players. I genuinely remember Bioware's GM saying he was focused on rebuilding the brands name & reputation a couple years back....

Swtor gets moved to Broadsword.... Hard not to correlate the two things personally.

The only optimism I have is that Broadsword's other titles are decently maintained. The hope I have is that their new GM will be more involved to guide them in a positive direction. The concern I have is that the team Swtor has now is given more freedom and less oversight.

The chance that BioSword conducts any sort of meaningful moderation past absurdly vulgar comments in chat is just as high as the chance that @EricMusco responds to any of the real issues with PvP that literally everyone has been asking to address in the PvP Forums.

    ...0% chance.

I'm personally glad he responded. And I'd rather encourage more responses than discourage by complaining that we didn't get a response to something else (even if we think that something else was more important).

I agree with both takes and don't think they conflict.

We want meaningful productive conversations just as much on the range of issues. We get frustrated that we can't have them. I don't mince words even a little as I just don't believe sugar coating is effective when seeking results... But the door is open for them to work with the passionate fan base. Always has been.

They might erroneously simply see the base as an impossible to please, aggressive, & unwelcoming one. And while some amount of that exists, its not the larger portion. Most take into account their side as best their able to often.

If the Devs want to have a good relationship with the base and build a sense of warm community, they've gotta be willing to talk about the uncomfortable aspects honestly with us. Its always filtered through another channel in a way that isn't well received.

Engage with the critics who desire constructive results, be upfront, no spins or angles, just direct meaningful dialogue & watch how well the base responds.

But its on them, the hand has been offered out in friendship many times by many people. They simply have to take it and embrace the community that wishes to do the same in kind.

We all have the same goal, we want the game to be in its best shape & something that lasts + worthy of attracting new and returning fans.

Some of you need to get the devs off the pedestal you put them on. They are providing a service. We are customers. They dismiss their customers at their own peril.

This is the bottom line 100%, anything else is an excuse. This whole "limited resources" + "unrealistic expectations" takes are pure nonsense.

People literally would have been happy with story content + levels & not breaking the game further. No one really asked for Combat Styles for example, it came out of thin air. While the loadouts are nice, they mismanaged their resources.

If they would have made themselves a toolkit to create levels for example, simple sensible solutions.

We live in such a weird era where the consumers apologize & defend on behalf of a poorly done job.

Excuses do not make up for the results. Virtually every other MMO has put out substantial content this year. Necrom for ESO, Secrets of the Obscure for GW2, etc.

The last "substantial" content for Swtor was Legacy of the Sith, which is commonly referred to as a downgrade. The Devs then misled the entire base into thinking there was going to be a year long celebration. Which there simply wasn't anything at all. And now we're here.

To think they can't turn it around is illogical, there are plenty of players who would love to return. They simply don't trust the way the product is run. This isn't 2002. People return to games when they fix themselves all the time. Path of Exile, Warframe, etc.

Just stop covering for them and hold them accountable.

  10. The tantrum scene is my favorite, reminds me of prequel Anakin.

I hate when they bring back characters from the dead, but I swear if they did a "Return of the Baras" it would draw back a crowd off sheer enjoyment of the character.

But everyone wanted more class story content.

  11. There was a large issue with VPNs and the way the launcher delivered the new ToS. It would break the launcher completely if you tried signing in while under a VPN.

If you are using one, I would try doing a fresh install and launch it without it.

If not highly recommend utilizing Steams as aforementioned as its way more stable in most scenarios.

I've come to terms that there will never be a time where pvp guilds are a thing. Back before 5.0 was a great time but the game has forced them all out. Only pvp guild left on sf that regularily queues is no idea and those guys have the personalities of  early 2000's tv high school bullies that don't like the exchange student.

    The last line got me.

There were quite a few in 6.X era, we just mostly kept to ourselves or held events with other guilds who we knew weren't toxic. Was a good community of 5-6 unaffiliated guilds who would set times so people knew when to play Ranked, etc.

But it like most things in this game were gatekept, not out of arrogance, but simply to keep the community safe from toxicity due to lack of moderation or support from Devs.

  13. 6 hours ago, TrixxieTriss said:

It killed way more than that. Many casual pvpers played ranked too. And when most of your best ranked players leave, who also played causal WZ’s, who is left to teach new people or for them to play against & get better?

This is massively under appreciated. Most of what I know for PvP comes from more experienced Ranked players who took the time to teach me and my group how to be better. Their sole intent was to grow the community, 7.x was a slap in the face to that.

There was a great community of multiple guilds who worked together to try and make PvP a healthier place. I myself used to host massive duel tournaments & it was a great time for just about everyone. We would pay it forward and spend time working with newer or lesser skilled players.

All of us left initially at Legacy of the Sith, a small handful of us came back recently for nostalgia. I've tried to take newer players under my wing so to speak but now casual is more toxic then ranked ever was imo. You have matches where the majority of the players completely ignore objectives and just throw the match right away bc they don't care at all.

Whatever the goal was they clearly failed.

Returning player wandering the current state of both specs. is lightnin/Tel still the top one or is madness/balance finally caught up.

Someone in the Dev team hates Lightning as its been nerfed into the ground.

DoT specs are better at everything: Sustain, Burst, AoE, etc.

Playing a Lightning is literally only if you're sadistic at this point.

Madness however requires pressing about 4 buttons vs. the symphony of keys of Lightning and even if you mess up you'll do more damage. If you make one mistake as a Lightning you won't even be in the same tier.

Worse is they just boosted Lightning and it still doesn't keep up with the plethora of benefits so many other specs have.

Why the Devs decided to nuke a beloved spec into the ground? No idea beyond they simply don't understand or play the game.

  15. The majority of what you described is where the player base is at. There's just too much in the wrong direction with zero accountability.

I would love to say you're overreacting but most of it is pretty spot on.

I would say the average long time player simply hopes they don't make the game worse at this point. Most of us hate just about everything from the 7.0 era. The combat styles & loadouts, & map changes are about it in terms of positive.

Operations, Flashpoints, & PvP are all in worse states.

Class Balance is atrocious. The most complicated specs have to fight to be perfect, and even then they're not even close to being competitive with the mindlessly easy ones.

But if we're being realistic there's no reason to be hopeful. We're the equivalent of Princess Leia sitting in a cell after watching our home planet be obliterated by the Death Star that was 7.0.

We have no Kenobi in the dev team to look to for hope. Maybe the GM of Broadsword values the customers enough to demand accountability? But why should we expect change or optimism when we've been saying the same things for 2+ years now.

They'll brush aside losing players because to them it looks like the normal trend, when not seeing the writing in the wall. Players want to have a decent product like they used to & are turning to games with devs who are honest.

Look at Baldur's Gate 3, a completely unfinished at launch game generating massive praise simply bc they engage correctly with their consumers & provide what is asked. This game literally shares the same market. It doesn't take a rocket science to see the ways this could be profitable if they just actually put in the effort & most importantly:

    TREATED THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT.

    I'm genuinely confused. 🤣

You just said that deatchmatching was a big issue. I told you the reason why it's an issue. And then you said there are other things you would rather fix first?????

Yes. I would fix the fundamentals before focusing on the modes. You can't exactly have fair competitive play without it is all. I've discussed em in various threads but the primary issues like the sheer AoE/DoT dominance & the mess of stuns/slows, and others. Just you have to have a solid footing before you can run, and right now its a disaster.

Here’s a thought I just had. It’s not fully formed yet as I’m still semi asleep & on some strong meds. BUT here goes :

We all know that Quesh ball is so intrinsically broken now & I doubt they’ll every fix the maps bug’s & horrendous desync. So why not just turn that map into a 8v8 death match Arena? Remove the ball & scoring functions. Remove any of the leap & pull restrictions into the goal area.

Then people get an 8v8 death map that some have been asking for. And we go back to having just 2 Hutt Ball maps in the rotation.

As for determining the mechanics & how you win, Ive some thoughts. But I’d like to hear what others think first.

Cool with it, sign me up.

The way I would do it is have a lifepool weighed against a time limit. Say something basic like 64 lives a side. I'd implement a penalty for subsequent deaths. (If you die more then once within a set period of time, you respawn slower. Offset only by body count of active players.) This helps throttle players that come in with 360k health or lower from throwing the match in the oppositions favor.

Once it gets down to 16 I'd throttle again giving everyone one life left, giving everyone some semblance of fairness vs. again one or two bad players bleeding out the squad.

Should the time limit hit, sudden death with the arena getting smaller like a traditional arena.

A thousand ways to pull it off, but just my two cents.

nerf this jugg skank tank sh!t, i mean why play rage or vegeance at this point lol

My dude they don't understand the way the classes work at all on a fundamental level. Hybrid classes are beyond their comprehension at this point.

These are the same devs who think melee is at a disadvantage ffs & balance around "feel" rather then data. (Their own words lol)

When devs will bring us something like this? Everything here: new BIG expansion, several future updates, TRUE celebration anniversary and not mention ROADMAP. My comment from another mmorpg forum guild wars 2:

"Big news like this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-secrets-of-the-obscure-launches-today/ is hard to find in other mmorpg's (for example Swtor). Everything here .. many exciting details about new expansion, what’s coming out over the next several months, update 1 update 2 update 3, truly celebrating 11-th anniversary, not mention roadmap. No comment. Arena net really cares about their game and i so happy i started this and not other mmo, 7 years ago."

When? Why bioware and electronic arts can't be like arena net? I amazed how arena net cares about their game.

Kinda a poor example imo, they've consistently had bad writing, released horrid balance updates, and been a let down for about the same amount of time.

There are things I wish Swtor had that GW2 does:

Mounts (flying), Their Open World & The High Amount of Events, World v World, Dye System, Actual Class Customization

But GW2 stories, actual story levels, balance, and updates are awful.

They are certainly more respectable because they're honest & don't lie to their base about expectations, but as far as quality right now. They're in the same boat. Holding a very low standard for themselves and disappointing even low end expectations.

Again, it always comes down to the lack of competitive PvP. If I needed to actually do objs to get the rewards, I would do them much more. But instead I'm actively punished for playing the warzone as intended. No wonder no one cares to do objs anymore.

It is noticeable a lot of people have given up on the mode like this yeah. But if I encounter a group that isn't playing objective I'll just leave the match as those are worse then troll style premades imo.

    Warzones are for objective.

    Arenas are for kills.

Now having 8v8s that is just pure Deathmatch in the rotation would be fine too, replace Huttball with those and everybody wins.

But there's a huge list of things to do, first fix all the mistakes of 7.0's horrid balance philosophy, second add matchmaking, & balance the teams..  But we don't even get so much as a lazy "we hear you" these days.

So zero expectations this gets fixed.

Pre-mades have the Q as it stands. SWTOR Pvp is designed around it.

Solo players are the one without their own Q.

    "No, not like that... "

I agree, let them have their own queue since they definitely 100% want to fight other premades.

This is really it in a nutshell...

What happened is they didn't actually remove Ranked, they removed Casual.

You see ranked style teams in every mode vs. just specific ranked arena now. There is no matchmaking or balance at all.

I have a premade 4 man group, when we Q warzones we prefer to just split up and go have fun bc thats what it was for. We love using underperforming specs, and not taking it too serious. That was the point of Warzones... Casual fun play.

At this point though unless you legitimately treat it like Ranked was treated, you won't have a good time.

I can't Q with new players to teach them like I used to bc they just get demolished and quit the mode. No one enjoys playing against the 6 Madness sorc group or all Marauder premades, not because they're great players, but because the devs have given them a way to troll & grief the base. There are two premade groups on Starforge that actively discourage and kill the mode that play this way. Get any of em one on one and you crush them bc they're awful. They just spam 20 thousand dots that no one can overcome, no matter how fast you cleanse or heal. People having 6-11mil damage taken is just not fun for anyone.

It was nice when we had these two separate, a fun go at your own pace mode prone to solo one on ones or just pure chaos & then a more serious mode for more coordinated play. I don't mind a premade in a 4v4, but its like people forgot the point in Warzones...

    To have casual fun.

Damage rating?  Are you using those numbers on the main character sheet? They're meaningless.  You should look at the stats under that details popup, those are the important ones.

At level 80 I do better dps in basic, reasonably stat balanced, 324 gear then in 75 gear.

I can easily kick out 105-120k Thundering Blasts on a Lvl 75 vs. 90ks on a Lvl 80. Lightning Sorc.

I simply used the Damage Rating to be a universal explanation vs. Class Specific.
