  1. I can see it now. If people get this respec of advanced classes, then there will be clamoring for "respecs" of base class. Why? If you roll a Scoundrel for healing, but realize you don't like Scoundrel healing, then you have to reroll Commando or Sage and repeat the vast majority of content. (same thing for tanks). Really, it is only dps (the only role that exists with both advanced classes of the same base class) that would be able to simply "respec advanced classes." My main is a tank. If I found out that a chose incorrectly, I have to completely reroll.
  2. Shadow/Assassin types look better in pants, while Sage/Sorcerer types look better in skirts/kilts imo. (In other words, /signed on to more pants options for light armor)
  3. Kira staring up at Az (Female Type 3) does look very uncomfortable.
  4. To put a more specific example (I played a tank in WoW, so I'll use a tanking example): -Threat Meters make it easier to maintain threat. -Threat mechanics that are challenging to those without threat meters become a cakewalk to those that do have them. -To make threat mechanics challenging to those with threat meters makes it nigh-impossible for those without them.
  5. It is fun. If space combat was more like the movies, all you would be able to do is control a single turret on your ship, instead of controlling all blaster fire, missiles, AND limited piloting. You are at the weapons post, with limited access to piloting. Most of the piloting would be at the helm, instead . . . just think of it as your bridge companion at the helm.
  6. For those impatient folks . . . how about not learning run until, say, level 10 . . . make you WALK everywhere until then. MWAHAHAHAHAHA Actually, I don't see a problem with it as it is now. Makes reaching level 14 something to look forward to, just like the levels you get a rank in Speeder Piloting.
  7. What about splitting rewards, receiving 25% of the reward instantly, and the remaining 75% of it at the end of the match? (or different percentage breakdown). That way, those that need to leave due to RL or friends/guildies (guild needs you for a FP or Op run, for example) still get something for their efforts, but the rewards become so lopsided towards the end of the match that those who quit early because they are losing, etc., are shooting their rewards/time in the foot.
  8. Well, wouldn't the fix be is to release orange off-hands? My Guardian wouldn't mind an orange shield generator...
  9. Not really. Now, having those built-in to the game as options . . . that's good.
  10. So, you bought a game without doing your due diligence, then complain when the game turns out to be what it was advertised as being since pretty much its initial announcement?
  11. King Solomon wrote that there is nothing new under the sun. That goes doubly for arguments between gamers.
  12. There might be a total character cap per account (I think WoW had a cap of 50 or so), but I have not seen it. Character transfers between servers may happen in the future (as that is a typical post-launch addition for MMOs, for a price), but not now.
  13. Make TOR WINE compatible (or help the devs of WINE make WINE TOR compatible), then OSX, Linux, BSD, and Solaris users can run TOR. Just making a OSX port of TOR only grabs a subset of those users.
  14. I think the purpose of having crit-crafted gear having augments is to make crit-crafted gear the best of its type (thus, crit-crafted oranges will be the best oranges). I am also wary of making vendor bought gear universally better than its crafted equivalent (non-crit orange gear)
  15. That actually sounds like a good suggestion . . . might want to drop it in the Suggestion forum, where it would be read by those in BioWare tasked with getting suggestions.
  16. It is interesting how that sort of bad game design is often lauded when it comes from a development house, like Square-Enix, but, when a game/dungeon master does it, it is rightfully seen as terrible.
  17. Players are NOT no-names. At low levels, some may treat them as such, but even that treatment is reduced and mostly eliminated by that level. If you want to play an MMO where your character is some no-name, TOR is not the game for you.
  18. What I hope is that other story-driven and choice-driven MMOs (like GW2 and Copernicus) become successful with slightly different ways to implement it, so then the next generation of MMOs can combine elements of TOR, GW2, and Copernicus (or they start adopting each other's elements). What I like about GW2 and Copernicus are the old TSR folks working on them (Jeff Grubb, Mary Kirchoff, Salvatore, etc).
  19. I posted a suggestion like this earlier, which quickly descended into to bowels of this forum (aka off page 1). So, I agree here. Also, RE-ing orange vendor-bought gear should yield schematics for them, so you can get Social gear with Augment slots.
  20. Technically, you have a 400 item maximum per server (8 slots * 50 items), which should be more than enough.
  21. When anything reaches a level of size and maturity, change becomes in smaller increments. It applies with genres, industries, people, organizations, etc. That is just the natural progression of things. (Look at aircraft. In the early days of flight, you had a wide variety of designs and fast, radical change in those designs. Today's aircraft are not much different in design to those manufactured post-WW2.)
  22. Every MMO with the Advanced Class mechanic. In DAoC, with much slower leveling and the ability to lose XP upon death, getting to level 5 so that you can choose your advanced class took even longer than 2 hours...
  23. I would disagree on one minor point. It isn't "international law" but various national laws. Officially supporting one country opens up to the game to have to adhere to that country's laws, as well as increased support specifically for that nation. By not being officially supported in said country, but also by not blocking people in said country, they can allow access to the game without having to deal with the regulations and governmental types in those countries.
  24. This is part of the reason I am wary of dual-speccing. My Guardian is a tank, Scoundrel is dps, and Sage is healer. Not even sure if I am going to dual-spec any of them; although, I know that people run with groups that would force folks like me to dual-spec my characters.
