  1. Someone posted an extensive list of things to do in order to fix the issue, but none actually worked for me. Perhaps they will for other people? Anyways, having to resort to extensive and complete "programmer" fixes on your own, especially with limited knowledge of how computers work, is still unacceptable! The fix should be in the game itself. But it seems like either broadsword has no actual fix/doesn't know how to fix the issues of 7.4+, or that they couldn't be bothered to fix it. Either way, it's not on us to fix it! It's on broadsword.
  2. Same issue sometimes. Honestly, this game is completely broken and unplayable by a large percentage of the player base at the moment. What's totally unacceptable, is that this has been going on for over a month!
  3. With what little of the graphics and lighting I've seen since the update, I am not surprised. I can't even play the game longer than a couple minutes without it crashing to either a black screen or to the desktop. But I have noticed that on the fleet, force lightning abilities seem to have this awful glare that didn't used to be there and it hurts my eyes. Honestly, the 7.4 graphics update broke the game and those who can still play it, are experiencing worse graphics than before the update. The solution is simple: revert back to before 7.4, then re-apply the update without the graphics changes. Clearly, the developers need to stop applying patches and updates until they have at least a 98% guarantee of non-game breaking bugs, or bugs bad enough to completely ruin the player experience!
  4. Can't be my computer. I can play my other games just fine. And they have some impressive graphics. No black screen with total war games running on max graphics and fielding 10 000+ high detailed models running around the battlefield. No black screen for Baldur's Gate 3, max settings. No black screen for civ 6, age of empires 4, etc. So whatever they did with 7.4, clearly is the result of horrible programming that causes this issue. I want my money back!
  5. Nope still not working! Besides, I begrudgingly did all this, but nothing worked. A player should not have to resort to such extensive fiddling & tweaking to play a game. If players are forced to attempt all this tech support stuff, the problem isn't with their setup, it's with the game itself. And the game's lack of usability and function. I've been playing SWTOR on and off for years, and never had these kinds of problems before 7.4. Therefore, the only explanation is 7.4 is the issue, not my computer. And not the computers of all the rest of the core player base who are facing the same issues!! So clearly, the developers and team at broadsword need to get their bull in order! Fix your blasted problems yourselves so we can play a game that functions! It's the bare minimum. So since your faulty ficken9 product does not work anymore, you should offer some sort of refund or compensation to players who subscribed within the last month, only to be unable to play a defective product. Better yet, rollback 7.4's graphic changes. I honestly don't see much of a difference where it counts. And what little graphics I was able to experience before the game kept on crashing, actually seem slightly worse than before the update. It's not an improvement. Do not fix what's not broken (for the most part)! The update ruined the game for a third of your player base - minimum. You will loose paying subscribers. You will go out of business because players have frankly had enough bull in terms of everything failing in this game over the past year and a half.
  6. I tried all this! It didn't work. And the black screen & crash times are even more inconsistent. Sometimes the issue happens within seconds, and for a while I thought I fixed the problem where I was able to play for about 8-10 minutes or so without issue. But nope. These are my computer specs: Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics 3.80 GHz Installed RAM 12.0 GB (11.3 GB usable) Device ID 2CDC5840-AB03-44DE-BF99-41A3E9B3D947 Product ID 00342-21939-40520-AAOEM System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor These are my monitor specs: Desktop mode 1920 x 1080, 60 Hz Active signal mode 1920 x 1080, 60 Hz Bit depth 8-bit Color format YCbCr444 Color space Standard dynamic range (SDR) This is the one crash report that happened today (for some reason, I wasn't getting them every time yesterday either) [See attached file]
  7. Having the same problem. Part of me is thinking that the devs, and broadsword are all aware of the game-breaking bugs plaguing this game. And are just doing the bare minimum of their job description. Probably in hopes that they can still receive a paycheck whilst desperately hoping the game fails so hard, it gets shut down for good. Then they can move on to other projects, instead of being stuck moderating a 12+ year old game.
  8. Major bug! One of two effects happens at random. Effect 1) The game crashes completely, and the application just quits. Sometimes there's an error report, other times, nothing! Nada! Afterwards, it won't even load as if both the in-steam application, and the desktop application aren't even being registered. Then if I restart my computer, everything is fine! And the game plays as normal. Until, a few minutes later until this happens again. Effect 2) The screen goes completely black. Regular gameplay does not seem to be effected. Just a black screen with no control over where I am going, or with what I am interacting with in game. Then I'm forced to use ctl + alt + delete and force the game to close via task manager. Sometimes task manager doesn't work, and the only option is to force-shut down my computer, which can't be good for it. If I can use task manager, I can reload the game in gameplay seems unaffected until either it randomly crashes, or the the screen randomly goes black. When I mention randomly, I'm on the fleet ( haven't even been able to leave the Imperial fleet yet without these bugs!). My character could be talking to a vendor, moving around by foot or vehicle, or just standing still. It makes no difference what tabs are open, or what actions my character is taking. These crashes are always after a few minutes, with inconsistent times . First crash happened within a couple minutes, the next after about less than a minute. And the most recent crash, about a minute and a half. Fix the damn game! This product is riddled with more bugs than a cadaver of an entomologist who's dying wish was to be buried with his treasured insect collection! Fix the product, or the game will inevitably die in shame due to faulty programming.
  9. Honestly, seeing how bad the state of the game is currently made worse by 7.4, I'm kind of hoping that this is the year the game will finally die and shut down for good. I feel like I'm watching Old Yeller and wondering who will have the courage to finally take SWTOR out behind the shed with with a metaphorical shotgun. *Imagery to have in mind* A rabid Aric Jorgan bites Bowdaar. The Wookie starts foaming at the mouth. With a look of pain and sadness, Theron and Lana take Bowdaar out behind a shed on Odessan. A shot is heard. Screen fades to black. Silence. The game is dead.
  10. Couldn't be a corrupted install. I tried through steam, and through the non-steam install. And multiple times. Regardless of how the game was installed, the results were consistent. The game plays and runs. But with negative efficiency. Most likely OwenBrooks is correct. It's probably a memory leak issue. And one that the devs haven't completely fixed yet. Which leads to the notion: A patch should not be released until there is a 100% guarantee that such major game breaking issues will not occur. The smart thing would have been a) for the devs to delay releasing the patch until they had that 100% guarantee. OR b) roll-back to before 7.4, take a couple weeks to a couple months until they have a 100% guarantee that no one in their player base would encounter this. But the devs in the past, and now with broadsword, have a consistent history of ducking up patches and updates. Either because of greed or incompetence. Who knows!
  11. Having the same problem since the update.
  12. Why should we have to do any of this? Especially if someone is rather terrible with computers. Looking up and having to specify these things is just bad game design! The game should be able to detect and do that for us. The game should be able to run smoothly based on the minimum requirements. But it still doesn't even do that! My computer can take the highest settings of any game normally. It's a high end gaming computer with a good graphics card. Yet, since 7.4, even on the lowest settings, the game crashes and cannot function.
  13. Even after the patch to fix 7.4's game breaking bugs from launch, the game is still unplayable! Quite literally. I'm stuck on the loading screen, until the computer crashes. I tried a fix. Which was to manually delete the settings file. That solved the problem. All graphics were set back to default. Then as it turns out, no matter the settings (Low or High), the lag is so terrible that it takes almost a minute to complete a single step forward!. On high, the graphics look so dam n blurry! On low, even worse. I checked the CPU usage. And found out that there is still a bleedthrough. After about 10 minutes of misery, my computer crashed. Now this might be expected, if my computer was old or outdated. However, my computer is only about a year old. And it's a very high-end gaming computer with an impressive graphics card made for gaming! I'm able to play Warhammer Total war on this computer with full graphics, and a mod that triples the amount of units on the battlefield. And my computer can take over 24,000 troops on the battlefield from that game without any problems or overheating. So explain how SWTOR, a rather old game, can cause crashes and shi tt y graphics, despite my computer? My computer is not the issue. The issue is with whatever bugs are causing a CPU bleedthrough and/or infinite loading screens. The issues are with 7.4 being broken and not fit to publish! Please devs, make sure you fix your stupid patches before you publish them for your stupid game!! I can handle a patch that has non-fatal or game breaking bugs. Like a bug that makes random, non-story related NPC's face disappear. Or a random cosmetic outfit causes some minor visual glitch when in a heroic mission cutscene. Or an out of place voice-line for only that one mission. But a series of bugs that make this game unplayable, even unloadable is unacceptable! Fix this. Patch and fix the patch/fix for 7.4. Or take the servers offline, rollback 7.4. Work on the issues for a couple weeks. Then re-apply 7.4 when you fixed all the issues! It's not rocket science. Okay, rant over. Now for the minor bug I encountered. When opening the game, the client makes me "accept" and check the boxes for the user agreement each time I open the launcher. It's just a minor annoyance. Since I've already done that in the past. And it seems to demand I do that again, each time I exit the game and re-enter. It's pointless. I will uninstall the game. I already canceled my subscription. And I shan't play this game again until the devs fix the game breaking bugs with 7.4! And if the new graphics updates still look this bad and lack any functionality after 7.4a,b,c, etc, then what's the point? You ruined and broke your own game beyond repair and should just close the servers, apologize to the community and quit your jobs.
  14. It's happening to me a lot lately too. But so far not on Arenas. Only on Warzones. Usually the character gets stuck and won't move or act during combat for some reason, then obvious ends up slaughtered, or you type in /stuck, and respawn in the start area. But you are still stuck and then get booted. On a side note: whilst complaining about this bug in chat, I found that the word "damn" was censored in warzone chat. But not in fleet chat. What's up with that? "Damn" isn't even a swear word. At least not for any reasonable person. lol
  15. Happened twice to me today! And it really sucks because one of the times, we won the warzone, and I had 13 medals. But after the warzone timed out, and my character returned to the fleet, I checked and found out that no progress of any kind or rewards were given..
  16. We all want the ability to stealth sometimes. Just to avoid those pesky mobs, or get around the map quicker without having to stop and fight every nameless big bad that comes along. I 100% support the notion of adding a legacy unlock generic stealth generator (no combat perks, and no group content viability) in order to move around the map quicker. But maybe the developers decided not to go with that. Here is a possible alternative idea. Cybertech crafted stealth generators!! At Cybertech crafting skill 800. We could be able to purchase the schematic to craft a stealth generator. I'll leave whatever components needed to craft to the developers. I'm sure they already have plans for what materials will be added for 800 crew skills. It would work something like the universally usable stealth generator bought for use only on Iokath. But work for any map. The parameter of course would be, this craftable stack wouldn't be available for use in PVP, or Group content. As that would just be unfair. What it would do is simple, craft the generator, click it, and a UI thing appears much like the UI in Heroic Moment. There would be a stealth icon there. The stealth would reduce speed like normal. Provide NO combat benefits. And be as detectable as a lvl 1-25 Assassin. So basically making you just invisible enough to get around the map without being forced into combat (though occasionally you would be spotted). There would be three items to craft of increasing rarity. Dissemble the green item to get the blue and the blue to get the purple schematic. Green Experimental Stealth Generator (2 per craft, 4 on critical): Provides 1 hour of access to stealth. Character death removes the effect. Blue Prototype Stealth Generator (2 per craft, 4 on critical): Provides 1 hour of access to stealth. Does not inhibit character speed. Decreases rate of detection. Character death removes the effect. Purple Advanced Stealth Generator ( 2 per craft, 4 on critical requires 5 legendary embers to craft): Provides 3 hours of access to stealth. Does not inhibit character speed. Decreases rate of detection. Character death does not remove the effect.
  17. Mandalorian Bulwark/Trooper Marine: Close Ranged & Melee Tech class. Bulwark: Heavy armor, Blaster rifle main-hand, Double-bladed vibrosword/pole-arm secondary weapon. Uses Physical Acuity as energy source. Each attack costs Acuity (kind of like Force for force-users). General Abilities: [some of the abilities could be] Blaster bolts (basic) | Heavy bolts (costs Acuity) | Rushdown (secondary) - charges and leaps to the enemy causing melee damage with melee weapon. Basically a tech version of force leap. | Spinning strike - melee damage to up to 8 enemies. Weak and standard units get knocked back. 1min cooldown. | Wide-beam laser - deals damage in a forward arc, increasing damage the closer the enemy. Can hit up to 8 enemies. | Thrust - High melee damage to single enemy. | Smoke Grenade | Stun Grenade | Shrapnel Grenade. (in the abilities screen, you pick one.) | Energy Shield (passive select/deselect) - Activating this causes a portion of all damage to be absorbed, but halves the damage of all your abilities. | Camouflage Generator - 8 seconds of stealth, 2min cooldown. | Vendetta - All melee strikes are critical hits against targeted enemy for 20 seconds. 5min cooldown. | Stun Bolt - stuns the target, deals damage, slows. | Slashing Strike - melee damage, deals double damage for foes under 30% health. | Needle Bolts - Kind of like a tech version of volt-rush. | Interrogation probe - dot damage to single enemy over 9 seconds. Bulwark Crusader (tank): Harrowing thrust - very high melee damage to single enemy. Generates threat. Replaces thrust. | Advanced Energy Shield (replaces) - Absorbs twice as much damage as normal. Halves the damage of all your abilities. | Call of the Crusader - You, and all nearby allies gain +20% mastery, power, critical, defense, and endurance for 30 seconds. All weak and standard enemies suffer -10% to their damage for 6 seconds. 5min cooldown. | Spear-Wall - high damage melee attack that causes high threat. Knocks back target enemy in a forward arc. Can be used again and again after the first time with no additional Acuity cost, each time increasing chance of critical, so long as character does not move, turn, or use another ability. Bulwark Avenger (DPS): Fury Bolts - A channeled series of high energy bolts. | Spear Dance - dps damage against a single target with a flurry of acrobatic moves. | Whirling Javelin - Throws your secondary weapon at an enemy. Stuns the enemy until they receive further damage. Like the assassin ability. | Explosive Needle Bolts (replaces) - each bolt explodes causing aoe damage. Bulwark War-Monger (DOT): Wide-beam Radiation (replaces) - deals dot radiation damage for up to 8 enemies in forward arc. | Electrostatic Blade - For 20 seconds, all successful melee strikes leech Acuity and increase damage by 3% per stack (up to 4 stacks). | Tainted Kolto Bolts - initial damage to single target, and very high dot damage to said target over 18 seconds. Ticks with erosion counters | Irradiated Surface - aoe, dot. Spreads radiation over a surface on the ground. Hits up to 8 enemies. Grants erosion counters to enemies. Marine: Basically a mirror of the Bulwark, but with a vibrosword instead of a double-bladed one. These classes would allow some players to use a melee tech class, and have some uses for those non-lightsaber blades in collections.
  18. Hm. Apparently the issue is resolved. Quitting the game and logging back in resolved the issues. Nevermind.
  19. The UI is missing for both the tranquilizer & retrieve stimpack relic abilities. The tranquilizer shows up in "mission items". But the retrieve stimpack relic ability does not appear anywhere. After clicking the blue nest, Scrabbler is enticed. I tranquilized him, then realized the ability to retrieve the stimpack was mission. After the stun effect ended on Scrabbler, he disappeared. Just gone. After looking at Dulfy & other guides, one should be able to re-summon him by clicking on either the rocks, or the next again. This was not possible. I followed the Relic Hunt missions to the letter up until this point,. I know I did everything necessary, but it seems like there is a major bug in this mission regarding Scrabbler. Some players did not report any problems. Some reported the same problem via chat. Cannot progress on this mission until Scrabbler is fixed. Either fix this mission, or take Scrabbler to the vet to get fixed.
  20. Yeah, I get it. The bounty hunter is my least favorite class. Probably because the storyline and companion interactions are polar-opposite to the very fiber of my personality. I love Mako & Torian, but the rest I'd send out an airlock. Mako is sweet, but has an intelligent and unique outlook on the world, plus she's resourceful. A jack of all trades, backed up by genuine honesty. And Torian is equally sweet. Kind of dumb, though. But a man of integrity and honor none the less, so he's reliable at least. But Gault is a back stabbing, pathological liar & narcissist. If the game allowed us to reject origin story companions, I'd definitely either shoot him between the eyes, or make some deal where I never have to see his smug face again! That being said, "Okay Gault, I let you live, we go our separate ways, but you owe me big. Not credits, but if I ever have to change my face & identity, then you help me change identities free of charge!" Blizz is an annoying little sand-rat and every chance my sith characters get, we go on Jawa killing sprees! lol But anyways, I'd probably shoot him, stuff him, and sell him to a taxidermist.* Skadge is a moronic thug. Reminds me of the kids who used to bully me back in the 90's. I'd literally have him killed, dismembered, and then ship a severed houk finger to every family who suffered under his brutality as a message to all: "Skadge is no more, he suffered for his crimes at long last!" *Cartel Market Suggestion: Jawa Taxidermy decorations. Edit: Does anyone know the twitter feed "Crap Taxidermy"? I feel like someone could make a real life horror that looks like Jawa Taxidermy and it will be both nightmare fuel & hilarious at the same time.
  21. I'd definitely be down for a Stealth Field Generator Legacy perk! Here are my suggestions for the idea: a) Have it be a 5000000 minimum (5 million) credit Legacy-wide purchase. It's a quality of life perk and a very very very practical one at that. It's usefulness should be reflected in it's price. b) The perk does not add any combat bonus and the character must de-cloak to engage in combat (or be seen/discovered/attacked by a npc enemy). Furthermore, taking any damage would break the cloak. So falling or AOE damage breaks cloak no matter the source. No other abilities or clickable things may be used until the character de-cloaks. c) As with class stealth abilities, the cloaked character should have some sort of a speed reduction. Nothing too severe. But just enough. A stealth field generator should be for avoiding to fight mobs or entering combat when in the open world or a personal single-player phase. Such a thing is really useful for exploring worlds without having to fight, especially with alts since you probably already completed the content already and just want to blitz through the map to get to the main story. Moreover, a stealth field generator would be amazing for finding datacrons! Some are in enemy territory, or are in creature infested areas. All this being said, the active companion would also be cloaked while the stealth field generator is active. d) The perk should not be available for use in group content, or PVP. So no warzone, operations, uprisings, or flashpoints. This is only fair, balance wise for those classes that already have stealth.
  22. Once I pulled an all night studying. So when I took a break from readings to play SWTOR, I was in a rather loopy mood. On the general chat, I posted "Frosted Vrakes! They'rrre great!" after I received a Vrake mount via a Cartel pack. That was kind of funny. Another time, there was this troll posting about a Pyrotech Bounty Hunter Alt he created called "Bubba Feet". He went through a lot of detail describing the toon as Boba Fett's obese, slightly slow younger cousin. I forget the exact details. Though I remember the elaborate backstory he had for the character. I couldn't stop laughing.
  23. I wish we could have the option to create a personalized biography of our characters into the game. Like where was the character born, their life story, what lead them to their current path. For example, how did your agent become an agent? Were they the top of their class, or did they become an agent to repay a debt, or escape a crime? etc... Literally anything could be put as your character's description! [Of course, following the rules of SWTOR. No swearing, hate speech, etc.] If the developers incorporated a Character Bio tab into the Character sheet, it would be awesome! When one righ-clicks another toon, there could be the option "Review Character Bio", so that other players could read what you or someone else put as the bio. It could be left blank, or filled with an elaborite short story of your character! Such a thing would also open the gate for contests, such as a "best character bio story". Anyways, I feel like this would bring greater depth into the development of our characters.
  24. Hear! Hear! I was just thinking of this the other month. I really like the role-play element of SWTOR and mainly play solo story missions. Prior to 7.0, I created a Sith Marauder warrior character. My intent was to have from Acolye to Lord, two lightsabers would be idea for an inexperienced sith, yet unwise in the most darkest secrets of the force. My hope was that with the onset of 7.0, I'd be able to choose my secondary class and then change it, either through credits (like skill respecialization) or via cartel coints. Based on this model, I had planned to make my secondary class that of a Juggernaught. As, once my sith become the Wrath, he's be given new training and have greater potency in the dark side. Then, from KOTET & KOTFE, he'd be an assassin, as Valkorian's power gave him deeper understanding in the force. I assumed I'd spend whatever currancy needed to retrain the secondary combat style. After the chapters, he'd be a sith sorceror, as he would now be one of the most powerful force users in the galaxy and have an exceedingly strong connection to the force. But alas! 7.0 does not currenlty permit retraining secondary combat styles. So I deleted that character and made an assassin/sorceror Warrior origin instead. But it would have been nice to be a marauder on planets like Alderaan, and a Juggernaught on Makeb. On the topic of Combat Style Tokens, I think they should be a cartel addition. Perhaps anywhere from 1000 to 1500 cartel coins. Like a name change token. You can only use one, once per month per character. That way we could be an assassin one month and the next a juggernaught, you name it!
  25. Since the changes made with 7.0 , 7.01, I find it impossible to win the HK boss fight during the Foundry flashpoint. My classes are DPS Sorc & Tank Assassin (Secondary). My gear is 226 Thyresan, with 330 implants. All gear is augmented to augments rated 74. DPS class is fully armored/augmented with Force-Lord stats and the tank is fully armored/augmented with Duelist stats. Presence, survivability, and damage stims have been used as well as medpacks. I prefer to play solo/story and have fun roleplaying. I have tried multiple combos with my companion (lvl. 50). Healer, Tank, DPS in combination to my character as either a DPS or Tank. As such, I made 6 attempt to defeat HK-47 or whatever HK he is. I get him to between 40%-20% health, but then he does some kind of one kill shot. I'm dead in less than two seconds! Even if my health is full, static barrier up, or shield charges holding up, I still end up dead. Usually, my companion dies about 5-10 seconds before me, regardless of role she plays (Jaesa Wilsam). This flashpoint is unplayable on Story Mode since 7.0!!! Either revert the companions back to their stats prior to 7.0, or significantly bolster the player when playing in single-player flashpoints. Or at the very least nerf certain flashpoint bosses by a large degree when in Story Mode. I play SWTOR for the roleplay experience. I am not interested in group content, or having to redo the same boss fight/flashpoint over and over again, simply because I keep dying and cannot progress my character's story. I have yet to play flashpoints past the original story arc since 7.0, but if this nerf-infested character mess is going to prevent me from completing the Illum flashpoints, Rishi, post KOTET flashpoints, then this game isn't worth playing for my preferred playstyle. We will see. If the Illum flashpoints are the same level of frustration as the Foundry is on Solo, then you just lost a paying customer that spent about $800 on this game in the past two years. Bioware, do you really want to push away players who pay for your health insurance and rent? Because if so, you are doing a great job.
