  1. What really churns my butter is that they didn't make separate unlocks for head+chest+legs and gloves+belt. They were from different packs, Blockade Runner for the first three, and Space Pirate for the other two, if i remember correctly. Space Pirate was such a "weak" pack, that very few people bought it compared to the other packs, so virtually the gloves and belt are non-existent nowadays. There is something in the 2.4.3 patch notes that might relate to this problem: Does this apply to older or discontinued armor sets ? But notice, it says belts, bracers and headgear. Does this mean that Revan's gloves won't be found in these boxes ? I know this problem has been raised over and over and i'm beating on a dead horse here, but it's a problem that's been there since the collections were introduced, and we still got no update on it.
  2. After i read the patch notes, the first thing i did was buying Revan's Mask from GTN (for a very high price too) only to discover the patch notes lied and made me poorer. Still clips on body type 3. Tried several robes with hoods, it clipped through all. How cute.
  3. Actually, not really. I know from modding fallout 3 that you can create a mesh that only applies to the head when a hat is worn. When i put a hat on i don't expect long curly braids coming down from under the hat. But a simple short hair/crew cut that works nicely with the hats can be done. My sniper is a female and i can't wear those nice imps hats because she looks like a cancer patient. Now, Rep hats are nicer in that, at least they hide the baldness, but a simple hat like the OP posted from the "Return" trailer would be great. So, for instance, you got some, what, 3-4 hair types for males that involve baldness ? You know, the punk ones. Exclude those and for the rest of the hair types, including female, they could add a replacer for the hair, some buzz cut style that doesn't clip with the hat but still shows some hair of the color that you chose. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours of work... but well, they seem to have other priorities.
  4. It's not gonna happen, man. Take a look at all the hats from imp side, the officer-style ones, they make your hair disappear. TD-07A Panther Headgear for example. Man, woman, chiss, cyborg, you put that baby on, poof, the hair is gone. Seems they couldn't fix it and that is why they "fixed" the Rep hats with those ugly band-aid neck whatever, so they'd cover the back of the head completely and hide the baldness. Cute, huh ? Band-aid fixes and taking shortcuts since launch. See also: twi'lek lekku.
  5. So.. making your subscribers happy (with minimal effort and while maintaining balance) isn't a logical course of action ? I beg to differ.
  6. Hm, perhaps i've misjudged you. After all, personal preference is what is all about. If you're happy, that's cool. But your campaign seems very close to actually supporting EA's behavior. I perfectly understand what you're saying. When i quit WoW after some 5 years, 10 chars to max level, professions, gear and all that, i never looked back either. But there was a subtle yet very important difference: i felt like i got the bang for my buck. All those years and all those money weren't wasted. If i quit SWTOR now, i feel like i wasted my money, like i didn't actually get what i paid for. Well, it should. This isn't the dark ages. Humanity should be driven by higher intentions. That's a very healthy attitude, but it also plays right into what EA wants. Don't get me wrong, i spent some cash for Cartel Market items too. So primarily i'm angry at myself because their tactic worked. But if it works, it will encourage it, and they'll keep employing it, and is that really the game we wanted a year ago ? Yeah, but they could be smarter about it. It's about long term planning. It is legal, but it's just bad business and short-term gain. I hate the same things. It's like they dug up the old cosmetic gear threads, created what community wanted and put a price tag on it, doesn't it ? And because we're suckers and we're invested in our toons because we love SW and we're geeks, we actually buy that crap. Because our love/loyalty/nerdiness/fanboiness to the franchise makes us actually come up with the money to pay for what we want. EA is monetizing on that and it makes them look like jerks and makes me feel like an idiot. It's not good business, not in the long run. Apologies if i offended you, but i do believe EA is overly greedy and intentionally short-sighted, and that makes them cartoonishly evil.
  7. Holiday events should have a place in mmos. Not because Life Day or Wintersday or whatever should be special. It's because there's something special in the really real world. Something happens to the player beyond the pixels and good companies know to "exploit" that, except "exploit" isn't really the word for it, because the benefit is usually shared between the player and the company. The company gets some money, the player feels better in game, feels that it's a dynamic world and whatever. So a smart company will emphasize on the holidays. It's good for them, for the game and for the community. Also, EA needs to remember something. I swore allegiance with my credit card on a monthly basis to SWTOR, NOT to Cartel Market. I support the game and the company with my money because i hope for more content, in all its forms, more PvE, more PvP (god forbid, maybe even world PvP), more class stories, more unique gear, more gear that the community is asking for ages now and so on and so forth. Look, if you've been around these forums for a while, you've seen it all. Jedi Knights asking for hood-down armor or masks. Marauders asking for hood-up armor. Inquisitors asking for non-tunic robes with hoods. Special lightsabers. Special blasters. It's like they dig up old threads, see what community wanted 4 to 6 months ago, then make it in game and put a price on it and stick it in the Cartel Market. Again, EA/BW... and maybe for the last time: i'm paying my subscription for SWTOR, not Cartel Market.
  8. For Hutts. More traditional gear for Hutts.
  9. Probably because it doesn't proc in PvP as much as it procs in PvE, most of the attacks bypassing shield/parry/dodge mechanics. I still like it though, because at least it cannot be dodged and i still get procs in PvP. Oh, and point per point, Guard Stance > Blade Barricade. Unconditional 6% defense is a lot better than situational 3% defense.
  10. Not exactly. There are plenty of examples in the lore where BHs use rifles. Best i can think of right now is Canderous Ordo from KotOR. Sure, he's a Mandalorian. But look how similar BHs and Mandalorians are. If i remember correctly, Canderous uses a heavy repeater. It just fits. But this isn't the reason why they should give free reign for blasters and rifles to everyone. The reason is that from a balancing standpoint, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOU WIELD. I have an Operative and i'd love to use a blaster pistol. Heck, he uses one in most of the cut-scenes in the game. A James Bond-like Operative shouldn't wield a heavy rifle, but a pistol. I think we're beyond the point where orange loot is a problem. We can get just about any item we want. They don't even need to add new stuff. If you want a rifle, pull off the barrel and the mods from your pistol and stick them into a rifle. There. You just made a lot of BHs and IAs happy. A Merc and Gunslinger would still have to dual wield. Also a Sniper and Commando would have to stick to their signature weapon. But for PTs, OPs, Vanguards and Scoundrels there's no logical reason to restrict them to a single type of weapon only. Adding more customization to characters should be encouraged. My Vanguard would keep his rifle, but my OP would switch to a blaster in seconds. Also my PT would probably switch to a rifle, but i'm not sure. Thing is, BW should think of it as "whatever floats your boat". There's no balancing issue, it's just cosmetic. It would be cheap and it would make a lot of people happy. Where's the harm in that ?
  11. I hope they won't. It would open up a lot of possibilities and some dead hybrid specs may make a comeback.
  12. Earliest you can get a hold of that is from Cademimu flashpoint - Cademimu Sharpshooter's Jacket. It can also be crafted by Armormech - Fortified Lacquerous Jacket. There's also one random drop TD-07 Scorpion Jacket.
  13. Entertaining as always, Watcher, nice game, zero deaths and top damage. Mid-zone control at its finest.
  14. Well, to give credit where credit is due, the support team did help me with my crystal and stylish top, removed them from my inventory and then sent them via mail. Problem was that they are marked as "bind on pick-up" so when i took them from the mail attachment it was the same story all over again: instantly bound, without a timer.
  15. I wouldn't say painless. There's a LOT of undocumented stuff you will miss as f2p. They don't tell you that: - Reverse engineering items have the discovery chance cut in half for f2p - Planetary comms are capped at 20 - You get less stuff from quests as f2p, and also you receive a lot less of the new tionese comms reward at lvl 50 as f2p I'm sure there are more, i'm waiting for my ex-sub, now f2p friend to update me with more undocumented goodies. You know what bothers me ? Not that they limit this stuff for f2p. It's that they lie about it. See, you can have the slight impression that sinking some money into the cartel market to buy unlocks will earn you a good f2p experience. So you buy the cargo bay unlock, crew skill unlock, inventory unlock, whatever. Everything you need. Then you go f2p... and discover all those undocumented "features" of f2p.
  16. Don't post tickets. I mean it. I posted a ticket regarding some items that came bound without a timer from the new pack, the support guys were fast and nice to send them via mail... but they were BoP and became bound again when i took them from mail. But the worst part about this is that after the ticket, all my keybinds except quickbar 1 were GONE. So if you love your keybinds... don't post tickets
  17. This seems to be the direction they're heading to. They should know that the people sinking money into the cartel market are mostly subscribers. Screw them over one time too many with cheap tactics like these... does not bode well.
  18. This. Especially when you advertise them at character creation screen so the items ARE in the game. Especially when you could implement a simple system for crafters to make armor of a color of their choosing and combining parts of armor or whatever. Especially when you seem like you've dug up old threads about Maras requesting some decent hooded robes, Inquisitors asking for non-tunic hooded robes, Reps asking for hood-down robes and so on and put all those items in the cartel market for a price tag. But hey... that doesn't bring profits, doesn't it ? What's next, twi'lek lekku over the shoulders coming down in front, unlockable via some cartel market gamble ?
  19. Dear Kurugi, here's some things you have to understand about swtor pvp. First of all, it's very movement-centric. Line of sight, range, attacking and defending are primarily based on mobility. A Merc/Commando simply doesn't have this. So, let's take a look at what lack of mobility means for each of the classes you talked about. Obviously, as a ranged class, lack of mobility means melee will catch up to you. That's bad. When they do they will either burst you or CC you. How do you counter each of these situation ? Let's take it from the top: Sniper - even as a 0/0/0 spec a sniper will have Cover Pulse to knock back his aggressors and Entrench to make him immune to CC. This is huge in the current context. Not only a special fotm class can't charge you (hey, i'm not pointing any fingers, just sayin') but even if they do make it near you through your leg shot and possibly heavy shot (Ambush knockback) or Interrogation Probe or Corrosive Grenade, they will still have to deal with your Cover Pulse and Entrench, possibly Diversion and Ballistic Dampeners also, not to mention Flash Bang and Debilitate. So the turret-mode Sniper itself is a counter to mobility, and the cover mechanic protects him from being charged and grappled, so what he lacks in mobility makes up in defensive abilities. As far as dps goes, yes, it's a lot like the Merc - mainly subject to LoS because Snipe and Ambush can't be interrupted -- yeah, exactly, they're abilities that can only be used from cover that can't be interrupted while in cover . Even so, a sniper can have plenty of instant casts, from and out of cover, and when talented for it, Snipe can become instant when entering cover AND when activating cover pulse. Engineering and Lethality even have DoTs to alleviate the pains of LoS. Sorc - the Sorc still isn't the best class out there in pvp, but they're in a better place than Mercs. Firstly, they aren't cast-based unless they go full Lightning. Now, no one goes full Lightning for pvp, because that would put them in the same spot as the Mercs. Sorcs only take the utility of Lightning which are the bubble stun and the overload root. Think about that for a second and realize how much control a sorc can have. They already have Electrocute and Overload, and they can spec for instant whirlwind that can stun for 2 sec, another 3 sec of stun from the bubble breaking and improve their Overload by adding roots to it that last at least 2 sec. That's all in one spec that can include Death Field (instant) and Wrath (proc that makes Crushing Darkness instant). A full Madness sorc will give up the bubble stun and the overload roots but will have an additional instant dot spell which includes a 2s root. Add to that arsenal (hurr hurr see whut i did thar) their Force Speed and Force Slow and you can get an idea about how complete a class can be regarding control. Their bubble stun counters burst quite effectively, the faster the bubble breaks, the faster the attacker is stunned thus disrupting his cycle. Also the Sorc's DoT based play doesn't much care for LoS once he gets to put the pain on. Let me put it this way, a Sorc may not be able to kill you, but if he wants to run, he can run from you forever. Now, as opposed to the Sniper, the Sorc is very susceptible to charges and grapples, but, happy day, someone at BW gave the Sorc the tools to defend himself via control Merc - should i even get into it ? After playing a Pyro PT, Pyro Merc simply makes me sick. PT has a guaranteed snare on-demand from a no-cooldown, instant cast Flame Burst, resetting the cooldown of Rail Shot is done also by instant abilities, 10m range doesn't mean anything because that's where the PT is supposed to be... ugh. Stop me. This is about Merc. Okay. Just about everything in the DPS trees is centered around you NOT moving, but without providing you with any defenses. As pyro, you won't ever get to reset the cd of Rail Shot every 6 sec because it can only be reset by abilities with cast/channel. Not in PvP, because every single cast you have is interruptible. Power Shot, Unload, Tracer Missile, Concussive Missile, Fusion Missile, heals, everything. Not only that, but you're pretty dependent on those casts with little else in the way of dealing damage, so LoS is quite a big issue for Mercs. You have your electro-dart as the 10m CC like everyone else, your 2 sec cast Conc Missile as mezz and your jet boost as a knockback. Also, your Energy Shield. And that's it. No speed increase, no interrupt immunity, no CC immunity. At best, you can use power surge to get off a conc missile and AFTER 5 tracer missiles you can heal yourself instantly for some... uhm, moderate amount. Your energy shield can provide a root removal, you can cure yourself of some dots and effects, but usually you won't have time. You're lacking mobility -- they will catch up to you. You're lacking survivability -- there's no problem in bursting down a Merc. You can be interrupted -- thus you can be denied 40 to 80% of your dps. You can be chain CCed. You're the turret class like the sniper, but without the cover system to protect you from charges and grapples and without the interrupt immunity and the AOE damage reduction. You're like a Lightning Sorc - except you don't have root on your knockback and stun on your bubble, and your bubble has a 2 min cooldown, untalented. You may say "heavy armor", i will say tech/force/elemental/internal damage. You may say "you look awesome !", i will say... true. I'm not saying exceptional players like Nightkin here can't make a Merc work. They can, but it's not because the Merc being in a good place, it's actually in spite of the situation of the Merc. Now.. i rambled a bit also, but you're right about one thing -- nobody wants to have the same stuff across the board. Homogenization is bad, even if it leads to better balance, it defeats the purpose of having classes. That being said, i wish Mercs/Commandos would have something like a WoW hunter's Disengage, which is a "reverse" knockback -- the hunter jumps away from the target he's facing for some 10 meters or so. You could call it "Retreat" for BH and "Fall back" for Trooper. It's something no other class has and it would be unique. Also, since i'm in hunter territory, we could do with one of those frost trap/freezing trap thingies... of course, they'd have to be named cryo mine or something but you get the idea.
  20. But being a sucker doesn't help. I had some 2k coins and i used them all to buy packs hoping for the Revan mask. Not because OMG REVAN but because republic side completely lacks full-face masks. Heck, even half-face masks, like respirators. But i'm a sucker and instead of using those coins for some quality of life unlock (like account-wide extra cargo bay) or a 100% "drop" (like honored adept's shroud) i hoped to get something i wanted for a long time. See, they lure you with stuff that should be in game but isn't: - Full face masks that work with hoods (especially for republic side) - Hood down robes for consulars/knights - Hood up non-tunic robes (especially for imperial side, for both inquisitors and marauders) - Good looking blasters/rifles/lightsabers that can be achieved at a lower level - Cross-faction and cross-class items (trooper-like gear for bounty hunter and the reverse, imperial agent gear for smuggler, adaptive armor for any class, etc) And because i care so much about how my characters look and feel, i'm a sucker and their cheap tactic WORKS on me. That's what's really insulting for me. Lurk the forums, see what community wants then put a price tag on it, and/or make it a gamble and profit. Disappointing. EA, man. Bloody EA.
  21. Color convergence might be a factor. Some colors just don't "kiss" well. If you suspect colors might not align themselves well, use a monitor test. Back in the day i used a nokia monitor test for my CRT to tweak color convergence, but it shouldn't be an issue on LCDs. But mostly it's the "ugly as sin" factor. I only use such crystals for stats in generators/shields or whatever. I'd rather use a +3 endurance crystal that looks cool than a +41 endurance crystal that hurts my eyes and what little sense of fashion i have. I mean really, cyan-blue is not THAT bad, but pink-purple crystal makes me lose hope for humanity, galaxy and gaming in general.
  22. Agreed about the dark side. My red zabrak became pink... which earned him a permanent mask until this is fixed. I have no desire to be a pink bad-***. Darth Bane, Darth Krayt, Darth Malgus, Darth Maul. That's what should DS look like.
