  1. I mean if they were listening to feedback we shouldn't have ended up in this situation in the first place. They seem to give the impression that they listen to feedback , but they are set on their ways .... And 7.0 was received very negatively from the first time it got to PTS from what I've seen. I just hope they can fix and improve things until feb.

Man, so far I read very little about 7.0 because I usually like to surprised and I don't have time to participate on the PTS to give feedback and always some other PVP-ers or end gamers know what feedback to give. I've started reading seriously about what's coming in these past few days after hearing and reading some hints that it's a bit of a .... massive meh in terms of changes ? Now I am totally shocked , man. I am here since 3.0 and I don't think I remember reading so much negativity about an expansion . I mean the gearing looks horrible, the class changes for those of us that play PVP at the highest level looks terrible again . No one seems to like conquest, no one seems to like the ability trees . I scratch my had very hard now and I remember some serious negativity prior to 5.0 when they released that command system. Everyone hated that and we all know how that turned out to be and the massive exodus that followed... So I ask again. No one seems to like anything about 7.0 . So what now ? What was the point of all the feedback ? I can't comment on the story because I am sure that it's going to be okay and a lot of players will devour it in days , but what happens after that ? We are going to be left with all that messy stuff ? :eek:
  3. Having played a lot of ranked lately, I can assure you that dot specs have a place in arena . They need more work to from the player to get the most out of them, but they work . I played burst and switched to dot when I got bored and believe, it doesn't really matter what I was playing. My win/loss ratio was more or less the same . I had games where I was burst and felt that I would have done better if I was dot and vice versa . Most classes and specs are all viable, but some need more stars to align than others in order to be able to work at maximum potential. Also, WHO is playing them is another factor . In the end, I think that none of these specs and classes were designed to function in arena PVP and hoping for miraculous fixes in this 10 year old game is a bit naive at this point. They promised us more attention to PVP and ranked cheats reporting, but this seems to have faded now. We are on our own.

Let's summarize a bit the experience of a typical player who gets toxicity : Maybe you are player that plays unranked on a regular basis , you know you rotation, you know at least at basic level how to use your defenses , and you decide to que ranked because you want some good challenge. You hit up the que with your Jugg dps and you get a pop. You end up against some operatives , sorc and sniper and you are eager to start the match. After strat is decided, you finally go in and then..... one oper pops out of stealth and stuns you . You panic and you break, then the other one saps you from stealth again and they " chop chop" chop, chop" you down. You use your defenses , try all and you end up dead in like 7, 8 seconds . What happens next ? Your team will start talking nicely about your mom.... You see, removing the chat won't really fix that , but I appreciate the fact that you tried to make a point and brought some arguments as to why you want the chat removed. You believe that talking in chat is not " solo " enough and you should be totally on your own , without chat . It's an interesting concept , but I doubt it will be more than a thread on this pVp forum. You know, the devs don't really care about PVP . They are very slow to make changes...
  5. This is old story. It's like 10 years old ? In this case you have two options really: 1 . make your own premade 2. become better player , and premades won't bother you
  6. This post illustrates the level of maturity that a lot of players from the ranked community posses . Instead of coming up with an argument why that guy isn't right , you directly wanted to make your point by pointing out his elo, as if that that means anything in this ***show anyway . I am sorry. I forgot that only the cool kids from the top are allowed to have say in matters concerning PVP . 110 elo rated like the OP , who pays his sub the same way as you do should just go back in his basement , keep quiet and l2p. OP . Disabling chat won't fix ranked PVP, and you want it taken out because others were saying " nice words " to you . You can read the strat and disable it afterwards . Toxicity will not be fixed ever and you have no control over it . You have, however, control over the way you react when someone is toxic towards you. Also, people won't normally be toxic if you play at decent level , but if you die in 2 seconds every game for example.....

I didn't really follow the changes on PTS , but I expect the same usual story for 7.0 with some classes being totally useless and others being OP and being over represented in the que , which in return will just feed the class stacking . Just stop swtor for like a month or so and return to it . The problems of PVP will stand out the second you hit the que button after a break. Basically this is some kind of stun war game. 95% of your death are because of or a the result of some kind of stun , root, slow. Now add to it poor balance by making classes that can vanish , have good dps and have lots of stuns overpowered in comparison with others that dont' have that . Also.. what was the point of adding a double vanish tactical to sins ? What was the point of making maras able to vanish 20 times if needed ? In the end what does it matter ? It's a video game. Treat it as such . By the the way, mercs are fine as far as I'm concerned. You can kill them if you know what their defenses do. Of course one of the reasons why so many players complain is because in reality they don't know the other classes' defenses and how to counter them. For 7.0 the the most complaints will come from the arena type of PVP(ranked), which is the place where most class weaknesses can make a big impact on the outcome and where stun wars really matters. But it's fine as long as those who play that think it's " competitve" .
  8. PVP is really hopeless in SWTOR. Unranked is a total mess with players unwilling to care about objectives and it has become and endless lagball and voidstar spam. Gj btw ! Ranked is a toxic waste of manchildren crying and whining at every chance they get if they lose games . Also, it's super hostile to any newcomers so sometimes you wonder why it hasn't died yet. 7.0 chances in my opinion will just make more players leave . Cross faction was added to fix the problem created by the exodus of players . Rep side wasn't getting any pops because everyone was on imp , and reps were getting mauled all the time. At least on my server .
  9. Some clasases will be totally garbage from 7.0 onward in PVP..... and the fact that PVE players are the majority giving feedback on the PTS doesn't help at all. PTS testing and giving feedback ? Not much will change anyway. They are set to go on with those changes and probably some players will just quit .
  10. I wonder how can you be so sure you can go 2 : 1 or 3:1 in order to climb with how random these pops are teams are . I mean just 3 nights ago I played 14 games out of which I won 6 and lost 7 . 2 nights ago I had a 3 win 1 loss run and stopped due to being tired and then another night I could barely win games because I was constantly getting matched in weaker teams. Maybe it's me, but without que management, you really cannot be sure 100% you climb so easily . Not to mention if you play something non meta. Carrying depends also on what you actually play... and to a degree, how you play.

    The logic behind it was simple. They wanted to allow easy access for anyone for all types of game content, be it PVP or PVE. If you were a PVE player, you would never even bother to grind through all the RNG to get 2 sets of gear, 1 for pvp and one for PVE, not mention min maxing your stats . Starting with 5.0. the gearing system became very difficult for a lot of players and getting max gear for both game contents would have been a nightmare . With the removal of PVP gear, we can now que both types of content and honestly , having PVP gear was kinda dumb to begin with . The change was very good .
  12. Solo ranked has a very primitive design and it requires you to be able to carry bad players or to win games that look unwinnable , at least as many as possible. If you can't do this , you won't be able to climb. You have no control over the bad players or the matchmaking with class stacking . You also have to win most of your toss up games, games which are really close . Let's be honest. This game won't change ever it's solo ranked mechanisms . Every thread about this is pointless and it will just create pages of personal insults . \ Of course there could be some improvements , but there won't be many because this game's income isn't generated by ranked and it's players.

Hell there If you aren't a total noob, and I by that I mean you aren't the guy that has not much of a clue about how to play his class and you can do some serious damage in regs, there is no reason for you to keep playing for " practice" if you intend to become better in ranked. I hear this advice all the time. Go practice in regs... Practice what exactly ? The level of skill required in regs in very low compared to ranked and arena game play is totally DIFFERENT compared to 8v 8 maps. So if you are geared and know your class, you need to practice in ranked or early morning regs when you can get a few arena pops. 4v4 is very you need to improve and adapt. Good luck.

  15. I doubt you as a developer would spend resources on policing your own game... That's what I meant. They have limited budget as it is , I think , so they'd rather focus on aspects of the game that lots of players play. And we all know that is not ranked. The " they don't care" part is probably right , but if ranked made them more $$$$, they would absolutely, totally focus on it more. And not just ranked. PVP in general.
  16. Since ranked is more or less the same since season 1, I doubt we will see any change to it.... I always find threads about ranked problems totally pointless because : they can't stop people cheating, wintrading, they can't stop toxicity , they won't fix class stacking, they won't change the ELO system ever because it's easier and cheaper to have it like this, they won't change the importance of first 10 games , in short, they won't do anything. ONLY minor changes . It is always the same people that get the top spots and top rewards every season . So I don't know why the rest are unable to do so, despite trying . Regardless , it's fun , sometimes thrilling and is the only viable form of PVP this game can offer. Regs is just a joke ... you know that when have 10 solo kills after a match. It's not fun to play with people like that. You'd rather get globalled in ranked.
  17. nothing can be done about toxicity in ranked. it's something you have to deal with and swallow . If you are new and make mistakes, do your best to improve. I returned to ranked after a break from the game and I am playing every night on |DM and I haven't seen anything that is " too toxic" except the usual spits and some minor verbal stuff... It was 20 times worse in previous seasons . Its fine now. at least from my point of view. If you are decent and try and don't die in 1.5 seconds, no one is going to say anything .

    ... and that is why people avoid it, because it's creates frustration . You do your best you get middle fingered by the game and you lose due to things that have nothing to do with you or your performance. You can get the RP-er 3 times in a row and you'll just lose anyway. After 3 losses in a row due to this, how motivated will you be to continue ? You log another alt and hope for the best .... And remember that the ELO system was originally designed for 1v1 chess games.
  19. Negativity comes from the fact that we are humans . Some players are toxic by default, while others get pissed off because maybe it's their 5th lost game in a row due to factors they can't control and they just get super mad... It's understandable , because due this IDIOTIC lockout,we can't even quit the game and reque . You are forced to play a game where you are basically farmed by the enemy team. Not really sure what's the fun in that tbh or what was Bioware thinking.
  20. Hey, It's been a while since posted here. I just returned to PVP after a break from the game , and I am curious about how much crit I need for Fury Marauder ? For ranked.. I see a lot of players with all kinds of weird stats . 2.3k crit, 4k crit. 3k crit and I don't really know how much should I be aiming for. I am running currently with 4k .How do I even know if my crit is enough or not ? I don't like to test on dummies because ingame experience is always different. Thanks for the answers.
  21. Just don't forget that lock outs were added based on player feedback on these very forusm.. Remember how many complaints there were about how quitters ruin PVP ... Still don't understand why I have to stay in a game that is just auto loss stomp walk over... Lock out should be ranked only . For unranked all it does it is create frustration ...
  22. Thanks . I will try out this opener .. I didn't play like that. I always started with volatile and they were instant gone out of my range after, with me having to chase them lol. Felt like I am wasting time, while my other guy on the team is busy dying ...
  23. Hey.. After having some experience with the class in regs, I decided to give it a go in ranked and so far I ended up frustrated with it . I seem to be not very effective with it ... Not really sure what I am doing wrong but I often find myself having to chase the target cause they always run out of my range . I have no troubles like this as a marauder, but with oper it's annoying . If my team has a jugg or theirs a pt or vice versa , I end up not being able to make the kill fast enough , which ends up in us losing the game. I am not that garbage to end up getting globalled all the time , but I am not very efficient at killing something either(alone) . I see other opers that melt my face so fast and I am not able to do the same on my own oper with others . So any help in how I shoudl approach ranked on this class ? Some rotation and opener tips ?
  24. Hey.. It would be good to know how much PVP experience you have in general and how much unraked have you played compared to arenas , especially ranked ones. If you , let's say , played 85% regs and the remaining 15% was arenas, then that's one of your problems . I was in the same boat more or less. I always played unranked, did pretty well, but when I qued ranked all hell broke lose . In order to become good, you have to first of all stop unranked unless you know it's low population in que and you get some arenas . But you have to que ranked and go through this pain you mentioned here. There are a lot of factors involved in the outcome of your games,: your own performance, who is in your team and in the enemy, what specs are matched together . You should also know how other classes work and how to counter whatever they are doing by being able to watch their buffs . There isn't much advice anyone can give here other than be patient and practice , but I think one of the most important thing is to : STOP queing 2, 3 games and then getting discouraged because you end up losing and feeling miserable. I don't think anyone can become good at something by not failing at it first . So I advise you to not give up and keep practicing . Sadly , yes, you have to pick a meta class/spec unless you are PVP god at some weaker spec . You should play the class/spec you are best at.(whatever it is) Fury marauder is a good start due to good burst and cc immunity . But it's not easy to play . I main a mara and in some situations I feel totally useless . Years ago I was like 800-900 rated, but now I can keep myself around 1200-1300 constantly . I am not thinking of top 3 spots or things like that, I just like competing vs good players . Got a lot of toxicity myself from other players in the past. Some of it was justified but you have ignore it and move on. Focus on your own improvement , which I repeat, will take some time if you are patient enough. LIke I said earlier, many players que up, get some bad games and then get discouraged from queing.
  25. You mean Team Ranked where memme players sit in que 24/7 and farm casual teams ? Yeah, that's one hell of a competition that we must have in SWTOR at all costs . Like it or not, Solo Ranked is the only form of real PVP in this game , with all it's flaws ... Unranked is just pointless waste of time ... where you get absolutely nothing for winning or losing and that's why players don't give a damn about it and play like garbage or they ignore obj and farm kills/dps . And now with these silly win only changes , you are forced to stay in games that are just frustrating and auto losses anyway , due to factors totally out of your control.
